Plus-size lingerie models are not uncommon in the industry these days. More and more faces and curves grace fashion magazines carrying a message that it is OK not to be size 0 or 2 to be beautiful, sexy and feminine.
Plus-size models are taking fashion industry step by step appearing in famous fashion magazines, posing in designer clothes and lingerie. Lingerie models on the curvier side are also becoming popular. This might be due to the popularity of such celebs as J Lo and Kim Kardashian who are being celebrated for their realistic curves, the comeback of retro style in Mad Men or the fact that the people are getting bigger in size.
I would like to introduce you to some of my favourite international plus size models!
Tara Lynn is an American plus size model who modeled Plie shapewear and H&M’s Big is Beautiful clothing and swimwear collection. Tata has also posed for V Magazine and Vogue Italia with her fellow models as well as appeared on the cover of French Elle. She has green eyes and brown hair as well as a degree in languages. She speaks French and Arabic fluently and knows a little Spanish. She eats organic food and loves listening to live music.
“As a 16 year old, I definitely felt like my weight was holding me back. I was supposed to have these bones protruding from my body and clearly that’s not the case, and not the way my body’s meant to be.” – Tara Lynn.
Ashley Graham is another American plus-size beauty who is known for modeling Lane Bryant’s Cacique lingerie appearing in an infamous commercial for the brand that has been banned from TV. She has also appeared in Vogue magazine and modeled Elomi’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection. When she’s not modeling Ashley loves doing community and social work.
She might be fluctuating from plus-size to normal but Crystal Renn has worked as a plus-size model for a few years to become known as curvy while gracing the covers of fashion glossy magazines, and releasing a book called Hungry: A Young Model’s Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves. Such models as Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley thank Crystal for opening the door into fashion industry for them. Even though there were plenty of plus-size model pioneers before Crystal the impact of her work has definitely contributed for bringing plus-size models in Vogue.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST… MY FAVOURITE OF FAVOURITES!
Candice Huffine is one of the Vogue Italia cover girls. She has also appeared in V Magazine alongside Marquita Pring, Tara Lynn and Michelle Olson. She has also modeled lingerie for Bloomingdales and appeared in Yo Dona Magazine along with Inga Eiriksdottir.
Who’s your favourite??
You are all beautiful! *missfitzzz
