Pout Perfection’s New Year Resolutions for our Favourite Celebrities…

Bonjourno Pouters!

It’s about that time of the year when people start reflecting back on the year — the good, the bad, the ugly. We usually take those moments of greatness and not-so-greatness and try to learn and grow from them by making New Year’s resolutions. Now, we all know how hard it is to actually stick with a resolution set, like, January 2nd, but I feel that celebrities have a better chance of sticking to their guns with the help of personal assistants, trainers, chefs, life coaches, etc.  With this notion, I can’t help but wonder what Lindsay Lohan and J.Lo are planning to change or work on in 2012. (Maybe going away? That’d be nice.)   So I’ve compiled a list of 10 celebrities and their imaginary (but likely) answers to the simple question, “Hey you, what’s your New Years Resolution for 2012?”.

Ashton Kutcher

“My resolution is to get Demi back…by tweeting how how sorry I am. I’m an expert at apology tweets.”

The Cast of Jersey Shore

“Yo! We resolve to drop off the face of the Earth and let Jersey go back to normal.”

Kristin Stewart

“My resolution is to try not to be so insanely socially awkward.”

Lindsay Lohan

“My resolution is to get my comeback started by doing Dancing With the Stars!”

“Our resolution is to adopt six more kids. The more the merrier!”

Kim Kardashian

“My resolution is hit at least 500 red carpet events and reclaim my title as Most Googled Woman. Oh, and also to work things out between me and my husband. Just kidding! But that would make pretty great TV right?”

Alec Baldwin

“My resolution is to host SNL for the 837th time!”

Katie Holmes

“My resolution is to get Suri to stop jumping on her bed and our couches. I have no idea where she gets this from.”

Ryan Gosling

“My resolution is to try not to be such a perfectionist…but let’s be real, I’m pretty much perfect.”

Jennifer Lopez

“My New Year’s resolution is to find a new hubby! Fourth time’s a charm, right?”

In all seriousness, do you believe in resolutions if so – what’s yours?

Happy New Year from the POUTPERFECTION team, party hard but also be safe!!

New Years Eve Bash – Remedies!

So girls, are you planning on partying the night away this New Years Eve?

I can picture it now; you’re at the bash of the century sipping the night away on your Cosmo’s and downing those tequila shots, dancing your ass off and having a ball…. next thing you know, you’re waking up in bed with your mascara all over your face and the headache from hell!

This is where lil’ MarindaLiza steps in to the rescue… *cue superhero music*

***How to avoid New Years Hangovers***

  • Have a big supper

This should be common sense to the usual partying pouter, but alas, not many people know this. Eat something filling and don’t drink on an empty stomache as the alcohol will go straight to your head and you won’t even make it till midnight (especially if you’re not one who drinks on a regular basis).

  • Have a little condenced milk beforehand

An awesome trick I’ve learnt is that if you line your stomach with a spoon of condenced milk (I’ve heard fish oil also helps for this) you have much less of a chance of waking up with that monster hangover.

Forgot to do that?

Hangover Cures!

  • A super greasy breakfast

Here in South Africa, there’s one thing we know for sure – there’s nothing like a Wimpy Breakfast to take away the hangover! So why does it work? Because the immense amount of calories and food involved with the meal serve as a sponge to the alcohol in your stomach.

  • A super healthy breakfast also works…

It’s actually the better option (obviously!), so try and drink a large glass of water, which will help move the alcohol out of your system, and team it with loads of fruit and veggies.

  • Vitamins!

Just like the money you spend on the booze, vitamins B and C are your body’s currency and oh my will you feel poor in the morning without them. B vitamins are quickly used up as the body processes alcohol in the body so some people swear by toast plus yeast extract (rich in B-group vitamins), while others prefer a high-dose B vitamin supplement such as Berocca. Take 1g of antioxidant vitamin C three times a day to swipe at all those free radicals you produce as your liver breaks down alcohol.

  • Coffee!

Yes my dear coffee lovers! To help increase alertness and get those tired, aching muscles more energised, caffeine (traditionally in the form of strong, black coffee) will help clear a fuzzy head and reduce headache.

Whatever you do, DON’T drink another alcholic beverage to take the hangover away…

This is only a temporary fix-her-upper so don’t even attempt it. You’ll just end up feeling worse.

If all else fails… SLEEP some more. It’s New Years day after all and no shops are going to be open.

Happy New Years Pouters!

Peace and Love xoxox

The Best of the Best : Plus Size Lingerie Models

Howdy Pouters!

Plus-size lingerie models are not uncommon in the industry these days. More and more faces and curves grace fashion magazines carrying a message that it is OK not to be size 0 or 2 to be beautiful, sexy and feminine.

Plus-size models are taking fashion industry step by step appearing in famous fashion magazines, posing in designer clothes and lingerie. Lingerie models on the curvier side are also becoming popular. This might be due to the popularity of such celebs as J Lo and Kim Kardashian who are being celebrated for their realistic curves, the comeback of retro style in Mad Men or the fact that the people are getting bigger in size.

I would like to introduce you to some of my favourite international plus size models!

Tara Lynn is an American plus size model who modeled Plie shapewear and H&M’s Big is Beautiful clothing and swimwear collection. Tata has also posed for V Magazine and Vogue Italia with her fellow models as well as appeared on the cover of French Elle. She has green eyes and brown hair as well as a degree in languages. She speaks French and Arabic fluently and knows a little Spanish. She eats organic food and loves listening to live music.

“As a 16 year old, I definitely felt like my weight was holding me back. I was supposed to have these bones protruding from my body and clearly that’s not the case, and not the way my body’s meant to be.” – Tara Lynn.

Ashley Graham is another American plus-size beauty who is known for modeling Lane Bryant’s Cacique lingerie appearing in an infamous commercial for the brand that has been banned from TV. She has also appeared in Vogue magazine and modeled Elomi’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection. When she’s not modeling Ashley loves doing community and social work.

She might be fluctuating from plus-size to normal but Crystal Renn has worked as a plus-size model for a few years to become known as curvy while gracing the covers of fashion glossy magazines, and releasing a book called Hungry: A Young Model’s Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves. Such models as Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley thank Crystal for opening the door into fashion industry for them. Even though there were plenty of plus-size model pioneers before Crystal the impact of her work has definitely contributed for bringing  plus-size models in Vogue.

Candice Huffine is one of the Vogue Italia cover girls. She has also appeared in V Magazine alongside Marquita Pring, Tara Lynn and Michelle Olson. She has also modeled lingerie for Bloomingdales and appeared in Yo Dona Magazine along with Inga Eiriksdottir.

Who’s your favourite??

You are all beautiful! *missfitzzz

Style Spotlight : Rooney Mara in Givenchy

Why hello there, Pouters! 🙂

I have stumbled across these images of Rooney Mara at the premiere of the much anticipated Girl With The Dragon Tattoo movie in London at the beginning of the month. She was wearing a gorgeous Givenchy gown that simultaneously revealed and concealed. Since making the film she seems to maintain some of the Lisbeth Salander edge by keeping her hair dark, her bangs blunt and her smile elusive.

She looks stunning and the hair and makeup is flawless, and the dress is perfect for her. She has really set herself apart from the rest of the celebrities out there fashion wise with this dress as her pick for her first movie premiere. I think its safe to say we can expect more avant-garde glamour clothing from her in the future. I have a feeling she will be our new darling of the fashion world.

What do you think of her dress? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Makeup : OLDER versus YOUNGER (3)

Hiya Poutlings! 🙂

How was your Christmas? Did you have an awesome day? I hope your Boxing Day is even more awesome too!

In theme with the missfitz: older vs younger makeup here is todays tip!

As we live in the time of the “smokey eye”, everyone adores intense lining of the inner corner of the eyelid with black pencil. This technique certainly looks impressive, but it makes the eyes look older and it can emphasize eye redness, as is the case with Milla Jovovich.

Shining kajal pencil, in contrast makes the eyes appear “whiter”, underlines the eye and enhances its brightness for this effect, with a well blended darker pencil on the bottom to really open up the eye and give a real bright eye effect, we can follow the example of Jennifer Aniston. missfitz secret tip: I’m not a huge fan of using white for the tear line, it works but I prefer to use a silver pencil and blend it with a brown/black underneath on the lower lash line. I’m a sucker for sparkles and well, its easier to blend it looks more awesome than using a white pencil. Note: its for a night time look only and may make you look like you are crying during the day!

let me know your eye opening tips! **missfitzz
