If you’ve seen these images on floating around on the internet, then you’ll probably have seem of the controversial comments associated with them…
These photographs were published in Plus Size Model Magazine, featuring the plus size model Katya Zharkova posing in her birthday suit along with facts about body size and eating disorders, the most iconic picture of them all must be the one on the top left where Katya is holding a “straight” model, almost cradling her.
A lot of the talk on various forums and blogs are screaming about obesity this and obesity that… We are all made different shapes and sizes, we are all different, and while some of the people who are over weight who eat unhealthy and don’t look after themselves are obese, but these pictures are not obese, I believe they just show an average women.
To be completely fair, the average size of women has changed dramatically over time but what also changes over time is the size of an average model is getting smaller over time which brings me to the point that I think the sizing for plus models is also ridiculous… I do not see in my mind how being a size 6 can make you plus size.

Good Monday Morning❤
SOME MORE FROM FASHION WEEK FROM NONE OTHER THAN
and if you’re not clued up on who they are in the haute couture world, an official guest member for the spring/summer 2012 fashion week in Paris.
This collection was show cased on Monday….
Alexis Mabille’s inspiration was
“It is only women who do not know how to dress that are afraid of colors”
and later explained that the collection was also inspired by a photograph of iconic model Lisa Fonssagrives on a beach, her face suffused with pink from the sunlight coming through her umbrella.
The beautiful models on the catwalk were : Emilia Nawarecka , Katlin Aas , Kamila Filipcikova, Caterina Ravaglia, Linnea Regnander, Eugenia Mandzhieva, Thana Kuhnen , Pauline van der Cruysse, Shena Moulton, Alana Bunte , Anais Pouliot, Kelli Lumi, Karo Mrozkova, So Young Kang, Tilda Lindstam ,Simona Andrejic and Antonia Wesseloh.
Each item of clothing, as I can only imagine you just saw from my collection of images from the show above, was monochrome. Alexis Mabille was really making the c0lour blocking statement as bold as he possibly could, and as such each models face was painted the same shade as the giant piece of tissue paper mounted to her head. I must be honest, upon first looking at these images – I hated them. The idea has started to grown on me and I can see some light at the end of the tunnel for the collection, however a lot of the critics haven’t.
Fashion critics have questioned Alexis Mabille’s quality of the couture he produced for this years Fashion Week, in comparasion to the grand masters.
A penny for your thoughts Pouters?
Fashion Week… is awesome. Are you keeping up to date with what is going on?
Well, here is something rather interesting that happened yesterday…
Jean Paul Gaultier, his models and awe inspired summer 2012 collection channelled every trademarked aspect of the late troubled singer who died last year, July at age 27.
Models channeling the late Amy Winehouse on the runway in Fashion Week
The models wore bee-hive hairdo, Amy’s signature eyeliner look and even had cigarettes whilst working the ramp to Amy’s hit song in the background – none other than…
THEY TRY’D TO MAKE GO TO REHAB
BUT I SAID
NO NO NO…
Celebrities gracing the audience included Catherine Deneuve and Dita Von Teese.
Amy Winehouse’s grieving father – Mitch said the runway “tribute” was a total shock to him and the rest of Amy’s family and has left them devastated. He believes that Jean Paul Gaultier is cashing in on the death of the late star and using it to his advantage to just make money. He also believed the show portrayed Amy at her worst, which is what he claims is upsetting the family the most. To make matters worse for the Winehouse family, is that the fashion show was 2 days after her 6 month anniversary of her death.
6 months since the death of Amy Winehouse
Jean-Paul Gaultier said he still believes the show was a tribute to her because Amy was an icon of the fashion industry.
I believe its unfair to Amy’s family for her life and iconic style were commercialised to this level, without consulting her family first. I believe Mitch set up a charity shortly after her death for people struggling with the troubles of drug and alcohol abuse, and in my opinion I think Jean-Paul Gaultier should at least donate a percentage of money to this foundation from using her as the inspiration and style icon for his collection.
I do believe his collection was fantastic, as some of the models really looked like Amy Winehouse.
What are your thoughts?
