So have any of you seen the movie that everybody’s been talking about?
Well, if you haven’t you should get your bum into gear and go see it this weekend! Unlike some of my friends, I actually sat through the book (ask anyone who’s read it, the first couple of chapters are torturous) and in the end I was so happy I did. The book was full of twists and turns and nail-biting moments and the movie was no exception!
Rooney Mara portrayed Lisbeth Salander like nobody’s business and Daniel Craig did quite an awesome job at portraying Mikael Blomkvist.
The story starts off with Mikael – a journo, who’s been in trouble with the law for writing things about some famous dude but having no evidence to back up his claims – who get approached by some other old rich man who wants him to write book about his family. When Mikael gets there though, the old man doesn’t just want him to write a book about his family, but to solve the mystery of Harriet Vanger. Harriet was a 16-year-old girl who was kidnapped by someone in her family and (possibly) killed in the 60’s. Mikael gets promised the first rich dude’s (the one who got him in trouble with the law in the first place) head on a plate by old man Vanger if he can solve the mystery.
Following so far? Good.
Anyway when Mikael is stumped about something, he gets Lisbeth to help him. Lisbeth is a sort of autistic goth girl who is actually really, really clever and can hack into President Obama’s porno files if she really felt like it. She helps him with the case and they eventually they solve the mystery together.
If you ask me, it’s the best movie of the year and the year has only just begun! Anyway the acting is brilliant, the cast is awesome and the scene where Lisbeth attacks her guardian after he rapes her is pure epicness and so much of girl power, it’s insane!
Go watch it Pouters – if you like a really really good movie!
P.s I never saw the Swedish version so I can’t compare.
