Good afternoon to our readers.
Last week I got a request from a friend regarding what pregnant women should wear. I guess a lot of new mothers are terrified at the thought that they might have to change their whole wardrobe due to the fact their bodies will expand. Its like unknown territory. Gosh, even I’m stressing. But doing some research shows me it’s not as bad as I thought.
From what I can tell, you don’t have to go out and invest in a whole new wardrobe. Many things you already have can be used in the first few months of your pregnancy. But I think some retail therapy never hurt anyone?
INVEST IN GREAT FITTING UNDERWEAR
Go to a professional! Ask a store assistant to help you out here. A great bra can actually make you feel better about yourself, especially during pregnancy. Some women can grow a whole cup size when pregnant. Doesn’t help you just get those granny panties either. It’ll just make you feel worse. These days stores are making sexy underwear for the pregnant lady. Go for it!
GET THE RIGHT JEANS
Bootleg jeans are the way to go when you have a bundle of joy growing in your tummy and a bundle of lard growing on your ass and thighs. Balances it all out. haha! Ok, jokes aside. Get bootleg jeans that have a stretchy material. When you have found the pair, buy in different colours if possible.
DON’T WEAR YOUR HUBBY’S SHIRTS
Women feel so huge and bloated when pregnant and often raid their man’s closet to get those “comfortable” clothes. It’s his! Yes, sleep in his shirt, but don’t wear it in public. Dress up, it’ll make you feel better. (Apparently)
GET THEM DRESSES!
OPT FOR FLATS AND WEDGES
As a pregnant women gets closer to her due date, her feet swell up. Thank goodness for flats, sandals and pumps which are usaually available all year, plus they’re ever so stylish and cute these days.
LEGGINGS, FULL LENGTH DRESSES, TUNICS, PONCHOS AND FLOWY BLOUSES!
Remember that the smallest detail effects your mood big time.
Don’t forget to accessorize. Use a fashionable handbag with big sunglasses. Go for a chunky necklace to attract attention to your neck and not just your growing belly. Wear bangles, wear makeup. All of the “experts” also agreed on regular visits to the hair salon! Don’t forget to get manicures and pedicures regularly to make you feel extra pweeeedy.
DON’T BUY UNFLATTERING BAGGY CLOTHES.
Baggy clothes will only make you feel larger than what you are. Wearing nice comfy tights with a poncho is perfect. It’s giving you shape, but also covering the bits you feel you need to cover up.
DON’T WEAR POTATO BAG DRESSES
So apparently its a myth that you HAVE to eat for two! Some women use their pregnancies as excuses to go all out. I’ve had 3 pregnant sisters, they picked up weight, but lost it all and look absolutely fabulous. During their pregnancies they did their hair, makeup and ate healthy. I guess all these little things put together is what will affect your mood in a positive way, thus preventing you from eating out of depression.
REMEMBER TO WORK OUT
I’ve heard so many women saying they scared of doing too much work during threir pregnancy. But according to my mother and doctors, the more you do, the better. It just has to be the correct form of exercise.
I’m not saying we all can do what is shown in the picture above. But it’s just an indication of how amazing the body is and how far you can actually stretch it regarding exercises when pregnant. WOW, I’m shocked the baby didn’t pop out in the last picture.
WEAR THAT TAILORED JACKET.
Look the best thing I think you should do as a pregnant lady is to buy those baby and pregnancy magazines. They have info on where you can find stylish clothes. Try some online shopping if push comes to shove. There are a couple of places where you can catch a head start though, like WOOLWORTHS, A PEA IN THE POD, OLD NAVY, BELLY DANCE MATERNITY, TUMMIES MATERNITY WEAR, CHERRY MELON, LINDA O, MARION & LINDI, JENNI BUTTION, ME-A-MAMA, AND TRUWORTHS MATERNITY.
