Why hello there Poutlings!
Happy Monday… Did you all have a good weekend?
My mum and I had such a lovely Sunday yesterday, we went to watch
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
MONTE CASINO TEATRO
I just love watching live theatre perfomances and unfortunately, I do not get to go as often as I wish I could… for various reasons however with my mums birthday coming up this week, we decided that we were going to watch the show. We watched Phantom about 8 years ago at the state theatre in Pretoria, which was amazing, but there was something even more special about this performance, which I can’t exactly put my finger on at the moment.
If you do not know the story of this musical, then please come out from your rock and read on to get a small grasp of what all the fuss is about. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera is a story of a disfigured musical genius known only as “The Phantom” who haunts the darkness of the Paris Opera House.
Amazed by the beauty and talent of a young dancer he captures her and trains her to be the best opera singer, unaware of her love for another man.
Obsession, jealously, madness and passion collide creating one real story of love.
Along with some of the most heart touching romantic music sung by the cast.
This story has been performed to over 100 million people in 149 countries worldwide.
Everything from the sound, lighting, acting, costumes, music, the cast and the set seemed absolutely perfect.
Pieter Toerien has done amazing work in presenting this full scale production in South Africa, which highly lives up to international standards.
The quick set changes had me sitting there in awe wondering WHERE they store all the stuff and HOW they can change so quickly.
If are put off by the price of the tickets, DON’T BE – you will not be disappointed – I promise you!
