Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was quite busy with shoots and makeup and all that jazz.
On Sunday we took a quick drive to the Pretoria Botanical Gardens, yes I will confess, I have been living in Pretoria for 29 years and this was my first trip there.
Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff, there was music in the background, two bands, one from America nad the other from Waterkloof High school we’re playing together, I was muchly impressed.
We opted for a late brunch/lunch and found ourselves at the Milkplum Cafe Function & Conference Centre situated inside the Botanical Gardens. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the friendliest waiter, Lawrence, a very well dressed and very well spoken gentleman.
He offered us some awesome filter coffee to warm us up, after which I requested a Chain Latte. I dare say it was very well made, and as most of you know who follow me on facebook, i had a fit not long ago after someone decided it would be awesome to add a shot of espresso to a chai latte. Let that be a lesson to you all, Chai and coffee doesn’t mix! Mkay!
After reviewing the menu on what to have for lunch, which was a very tough decision, I opted for the spinach and feta Quiche. You can tell a lot by the way a Quiche is made. I’m sorry I don’t have a picture of it for you though, I ate it all before I could take a photo. I guess I’ll have to go back there for a photo.
Boy oh boy was I pleasantly surprised when my plate arrived. It’s not the normal thin crusty no filling kinda Quiche. It’s packed full of spinach a wonderful flakey baked crust. It has texture and awesome flavour and soooo delicious!
After our lunch we walked all the way around the reserve, which was a good way to work of that delicious Latte and Quiche.
So next time you go past there, make a turn at the Milkplum Cafe, and have a bite to eat. Don’t forget to ask for Lawrence as your waiter!
Milkplum Café is open 7 days a week. Free entrance for functions after 18:00.
