It’s been a hectic kick-off to 2013, we’ve all been busy with all kinds of stuff, but I just want to take a few minutes of your time and hopefully pass on a light-hearted message.
We are all faced with some kind of fear, and recently I’ve acquired one of a kind. Just a few weeks ago while visiting family, I managed to flip my car over on a dirt road, a road I’ve travelled many times before and no, I wasn’t speeding. It can happen to anyone, at any time.
I was afraid to go back, afraid to drive past that same spot, afraid to drive on that same road.
But I knew I had to do it, I knew I had to drive that road again, I knew I had to pass that spot again to see my family. But as they told from the day of the accident, Do not be afraid, do not let fear win you over, and that’s exactly what I did, I recovered for a few weeks (and boy was it an awakening when you realise it could have been much much worse than having bruised ribs and a contusion in your arm) I got my new car (Thank goodness for insurance and a wonderful VW Sales person) and the very next day, I went back to that road, I went back to the place where it happened, and I overcame my fear.
What is fear? Fear is mere a state of mind which hinders your sight, in which you bind yourself too tight that you forget to fight. So just take a deep breath, close your eyes, say a prayer and believe you can tame the fear, go for gold. You might scream a little, like a little girl, you might cry a bit, but soon you will realize that you’ve done it, you’ll feel merry that you’ve overcome that barrier, that which was once your fear.
I hope what your fear might be, you will take the leap and overcome it. Fear is just a story we tell ourselves, and once you learn to control it, you will overcome it!
