Satiskin Event – Fragrances that ignite the senses

Hello Poutlings!

Lady Hellfire and I were recently invited to a press day at the Mane Fragrance House to attend a press day for Satiskin who introduced us to their new products to be launched for the festive season.

When selecting a fragrance for Satiskin’s range of bath time and hand wash products, the brand chose an international fragrance house that understood the importance of smell to women. The globally acclaimed Mane fragrance house established in 1871 is the creator of numerous Satiskin fragrances, and as sensations enthusiasts they are one of Satiskin’s chosen fragrance partners.

We were given an overview of how fragrances are created and how the elements all work together to create that perfect fragrance.

“Whether we enhance people’s daily experiences or create timeless fragrances, we capture what moves,” says MANE Director of Fragrances for South Africa, Olivier Cebe.  “At MANE, we create emotions by embodying our inspiration into our creations through innovation and technology.”  MANE perfumers based at creative centres around the world are able to select the best raw materials, the finest and most unique specialty ingredients and combine these with biotechnologies and synthetic molecules to create MANE’s next generation of fragrances.

Afterwards we were given a quick tour of the facilities by Oliver Cebe – MANE Director of Fragrances.

Karen says that another important element when choosing a fragrance is to understand that people have different preferences.  Our sense of smell creates strong emotions and passion.  Satiskin together with acclaimed fragrance houses identify fragrant trends based on the latest combinations, popular ingredients and creativity.  “Satiskin understands what women want from their bath time experience and the very important role that fragrance plays in their indulgence.”

All in all it was a very informative day and the fact that we met the only female perfumist, Fabienne Bourhis, in South Africa, made it an even more special day.

We are very thankful for the information sharing sessions. We look forward to reviewing some of the products we received in due time.

Have a pouty perfect day!

Product review: Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair Booster Serum

Disclaimer: This product was sent to me for review purposes, however bear in mind this has not altered my view of this product in any way.

Hello Poutlings

Well well, today I am very pleased to tell you all about this product.

I was sent the Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair Booster Serum for review.

I have been using it in conjunction with my current beauty routine and dare I say I am muchly impressed with the results.

This serum claims the following:

clinically validated age-defy and blemish clearing results with an authentically organic antioxidant rich juice base.

This ultra light serum is power packed with an optimum dose of fruit stem cells that boosts the skin ability to regenerate and accelerates cell turnover.

Well Poutlings, dare I say, with my problem-combination-sometimes-oily skin, since adding this serum to my beauty routine, I have not had 1 serious pimple or break out, my skin is not so sensitive and any scarring & inflammation that I had has virtually disappeared.

My skin feels smoother, more moisturised and best of all, as this product is light weight, my skin doesn’t feel tight at all. Plus I have that all natural glow that we all want.

I would gladly purchase this product in future and so should you!

You can order the entire range on Natures The serum is priced at about R900 but the other products are not as pricey and fall within the same price range as products that you buy at speciality skin clinics.

Have a lovely weekend Poutlings !

Car wash soap opera – Episode 2

Hello Pretty Poutlings

I hope you are all doing just dandy.

Well it’s time again for another lesson in “What NOT to do at the car wash” so let’s start…

1. Pimple Poppers
Now my sweethearts, everyone knows you shouldn’t be popping your pimples. Not yours… Nor anyone else’s. I know sometimes you can’t resist it, but at least wait till you’re at home, alone, before you start popping.

As for the couple in the car behind me… Sweety… You might have tinted windows but it still does not mean you can sit there popping the pimples on your boyfriends neck and face… Or maybe… Ar you taking your chance to do it now because he can’t get away from you?

2. Booger Picking
Here we go again, having tinted windows, does not mean you are invisible. Keep your fingers out of your nose. Yes you might think it’s ok to do it, it probably is in the privacy of your own home, but not in your car. I see a lot of people doing it these days.

Oh yes, hunni, I can also promise you, boogers surely have no nutritional value whatsoever. DO NOT EAT YOUR BOOGERS!

Well that’s all I have for you today as the car wash is rather quiet, guess everyone is hiding away from the cold.

Remember to keep warm this winter and load op on those vitamins!

Wannabe a model?

Hello Poutlings

These days every body wants to be a model, and everybody believes they are a model even after 1 low-budget amateur photo shoot, so, since we all want to be models, here’s a few tips of things you should do before a shoot.

1.       Hair

Please ensure that your hair is clean and dry. Your hair must be styled before you get to the studio, unless otherwise stated by the photographer.

2.       Body hair

Waxing must be done at least 1 week to 3 days before the shoot.

Shaving of legs & under arms must be done the day before the shoot.

If you are doing a lingerie or bikini shoot, please ensure that the bikini area is shaved or waxed. Really now, there is nothing worse than doing a lingerie shoot with hair sticking out of the sides of your bottoms.

3.       Facial hair

Many wone don’t realise that the shape of their brows visually impact the look of your nose. pluck them too wide in the middle and your nose looks huge, pluck too little and you might develop a unibrow. Having great brows that frame your eyes give your face definition and strength. You cannot do a glamorous makeup look if your brows are the size and shape of caterpillars.

And for goodness sake don’t over pluck those brows. Highly plucked brows do not make you look younger.

Shaping of the brows (plucking or waxing) should be done at least 1 week to 3 days before your photo shoot.
4.       Skin treatments
If you are considering having a facial done before your shoot, please do so at least 3 days before the shoot. Most of the times some facial products cause breakouts and by doing the facial 3 days before the shoot you can counteract most breakouts.
You must moisturizer your face and body before the photo shoot. So get a lovely rich body cream or body butter and start moisturising your skin. There is nothing worse than dry skin on a photo shoot. Also take the moisturizer with you to the photo shoot so you can apply it before you start shooting.
As for face moisturisastion, if a makeup artist has been arranged, please ensure that your face is washed and all leftover makeup is removed, this includes all mascara and left over eye pecil marks. Please use a good face moisturiser at least 30 minutes before you reach the studio. Yes we girls don’t like travelling anywhere with bare faces, but you have to bite the bullet for a bit, put on sime big sunnies and drive like a crazy person.
5.       Outfits
Choose your outfits according to the shoot that you have booked. Try them on before you go for your shoot to ensure that you are comfortable in them. If you take clothes that your are uncomfortable with, you will look uncomfortable in your photographs.
6.       Shoes & accessories
Remember to take shoes, at least 1 pair for each outfit. You cannot do a shoot in 5 outfits and wear the same shoes the enitre time.
Please make sure to take accessories along to your shoot that compliment your outfits.  These are small things, but quite vital as having a portfolio done with only 1 set of accessories just doesn’t work.
7.       Posing and facial expressions
These are vital elements to your photo shoot. It won’t help doing a fun photo shoot, if you don’t smile, or doing a boudoir shoot and looking like a deer caught in headlights.
Buy a few fashion magazines (the good quality overseas kinds) and have a look at the photos, practice them in front of a mirror, also practice facial expressions. It might feel strange, but it helps you to be more comfortable and allows you to know what your body can and cannot do.
As much as it is the photographers job to direct you when posing, it is also your job to be prepared and not show up with the “I don’t know what to do” attitude.
8.       Get some rest!
Please do not go out partying like a wild animal the evening before your shoot. It is rather unproductive to show up at a photo shoot when you are tired, hung over and have bloodshot eyes. IF you do happen to go partying the night before and feel like roadkill the day of your shoot, rather reschedule your shoot and make sure you have paid your shoot deposit / retention fee.

 9.   Oh, but the photographer can fix it…

No dearies, going to a shoot with that attitude doesn’t cut it. Photographers do not have the time to “Fix” things that you could’ve taken care of before you left your house. While you might think that you are their only client, I can assure you, you are not.

I hope some of you newbies read this and take this to heart, in the end it will make it all easier for yourself.

Have a good weekend poutlings!

Things you shouldn’t do at the carwash…

Hello Poutlings.

So here I am, sitting at the car wash, enjoying my lovely cappuccino with hazelnut syrup…

Note… Contents hot… Like me… Hahaha….

Observing the people…. To my left, a very young couple, to my right, 2 guys…
Well, as observant as I like to be, and as a quote or note to young people in love, for goodness sake guys, stop eating other in public. The odd 30 minutes it takes to have your car cleaned will not make your better half disappear. There really is no need to be hanging onto each other, or for your lips to be locked in some way that it looks like you are in need of some medical attention … And for goodness sake, love bites in public? How immature can you be?

Try to be civilized for a bit and stop making people disgusted in the way you act.

As for the 2 guys… One of which is a “wannabe” photographer who quote: just takes pictures of chicks for Facebook and because he gets paid for it unquote… Be careful what you say in public…

And phulease don’t discuss who you slept with…. *shivers*

Anyhow this my little rant for today…

Love & light
