Good Friday Morning !

So on the 29th of July 2014 was my Neapolitan Mastiff Nina’s first birthday and I just had to organise her a cake and prezzies.

Here is the recipe:

1 Large apple or two smaller ones
1,5 cups rice flour/gluten-free
1/4 cup corn flake crumbs
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon bicarb of soda

1/2 cup plain full cream yogurt
1/4 oil
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons honey
3 eggs
1 cup grated cheddar cheese

1 tub low-fat cream cheese
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons plain full cream yogurt
2-3 tablespoons rice flour/almond flour

Preheat oven to 200 deg C
Core apple then grate it, set aside.
Sieve the dry ingredients in a bowl.
In a separate bowl mix wet ingredients, add the cheese and apple.
Then add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.  Fold together and pour into prepared small cake tin or cupcake tin.
Bake for about 30 min until golden brown.

Mix all the ingredients together until it’s a smooth consistency.
I added edible colour and glitter. (optional)
I used a zip lock bag to do the piping. Just spoon the frosting into the bag and cut a tiny hole in the corner and let the decorating begin.

So give it a try! Nina also received some gifts and of course shared her cake with Donatella! Let me know what you think and comment below! Also remember that a healthy dog diet should consist of good quality pellets with a higher percentage of protein. Cooking food or left overs is not good for your pet. Dogs can’t digest cooked bones, it’s not good for them. This cake is a treat that my dogs will be getting on their birthdays. Just as we have treats on special occasions. Some of us more than most. lol.

Remember that your pets should be treated with respect and love, but as the Dog whisperer puts it… remember that: first it’s an animal, then a species, then breed, then a pet.

Lots of Blessings

Muchluv, Sandylashxx

Kitchen Fun. . .Banana and Oats cookies

Good afternoon Poutlings,

I trust you are all doing well, had a great weekend and loving the rain 🙂

So I have a few Beauty product posts I’d like to share with you all but thought i’d slip in another kitchen one seeing as the last one was beauty related.

I got to make my very healthy and Fit Viking Banana and Oats cookies last week,

He loved them so much that it is now a daily thing and he has them as snacks between meals,

So if you would like to try them, Keep reading 🙂

2 x Large Banana’s

1 cup of Oats

1 1/2 cup of Whey Protein  (optional, I added Cinnamon pancake for flavor and that extra bit of protein which is perfect to take to gym or snack on before, during or after)

You can also add Almonds, peanuts, raisins and all kinds of things you enjoy, I stuck to the simple one due to a strict diet 🙂

1. Preheat oven to 175°C

2. Mash the Bananas in a large bowl, add the oats and whichever mix-ins you’d like, I added the Whey Protein.

3. Using your hands or an ice cream spoon, Make little round balls and place them on either a greased pan or a pan covered with parchment paper, You can either flatten them or keep them round, I did however flatten them by pressing them down with a spoon as it’s easier to eat then.

4. Bake for 12 to 15 Minutes

5. Enjoy

This is such an incredibly quick, easy, healthy and delicious snack, Please let me know if you’ve tried them, what you’ve added and how you liked them 🙂

Kitchen Fun… Breakfast Muffins

Morning Poutlings,

I trust you are all doing well and having a great week 🙂

I’ve been a really good house wife the past few days doing some cleaning (you know those places that never really gets the attention it needs lol) I’ve also been playing around in the kitchen for a change, and I really enjoyed it as I’ve always been someone that absolutely LOVES baking but haven’t had much time for it lately.

Okay okay so I’ve also been Pintrest-ing again, ALLOT lol but if I didn’t I wouldn’t have gotten back to the kitchen.

So I’ll be sharing a wonderful recipe that I found on Pintrest by Mindy from Creatie Juice, I did however change it a bit so that’s what i’ll be sharing with you.

Bacon & Egg muffins:

What you will need:

4 x Eggs

1/4 Red, yellow or green pepper (I used red and yellow)

1 x 250g Diced Bacon

6 x slices of bread (I only used 4 because the BF doesn’t eat bread)

Dash of milk

Some Salt, pepper and i used a dash of Lemon Zest (its my fav spice at the moment)

Muffin Tray

Making your Muffins:

Preheat oven at 250 Degrees

1. Cook your Bacon as you desire and leave to cool

2. Chop the peppers into small bits

3. Mix your eggs, adding the some milk,  peppers, salt and pepper

4. Using a cookie cutter cut your slices of bread into circles and place them in your muffin tray

You can toast the bread or leave it as is. I only made 4 of the 6 with bread as the BF does not eat bread so i just spray and cooked the two without the bread.

5. Now add your egg and peppers mixture to your tray filling the half way

6. Add a spoon of bacon to each and top it off with cheese (Again I only did this with 4 as the Bf does not eat Bacon)

My muffin tray Before cooked

7. Leave to bake for 20 Minutes

Once done leave to cool before removing your muffins

They were Absolutely amazing and really quick to make, I’d def replace your normal scrambled eggs with these babies, they are absolutely delicious and allot more effective, Next time i will add Feta too though lol

You can change it about as you wish add what you like and remove what you don’t like.

Well best I be off to Pintrest, Still need something to bake for today 😛

P.S. Please visit Creative Juices at the link above for the original Recipe

Happy cooking

Good day my lovely Pouters!

What a lovely day it is, you wanna know why…. Today I made myself a light lunch before this blog entry, made out of the goodness of the tasty Red pepper pesto from Pesto Princess, some mayo, rye crackers, red bell peppers, and some olives with added cheese blocks. The pesto is from a brand called Pesto Princess, an awesomely fresh brand I recently came accross.. you just have to try them out!

Pesto Princess offers ultimate flavour with added freshness to insure you enjoy every meal.

Here’s some recipes you could try out when using your Pesto Princess flavours:

Pesto Pizza Split a loaf of French bread and brush with pesto. Top with capicola, shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan. Broil until the cheese melts.

Pesto Fritters Mix 1 cup each ricotta and chopped spinach, 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 cup each grated parmesan and pesto, and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder; chill 30 minutes. Deep-fry tablespoonfuls in 350 degrees F vegetable oil until golden, 4 minutes. Serve with marinara sauce.

Pesto Butter Mash 3/4 cup pesto into 4 tablespoons softened butter.

Tuna–White Bean Pasta Cook 1 sliced garlic clove in a skillet with 3 tablespoons olive oil, 1 minute. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, 1 can each drained tuna and white beans, and 1/4 cup pesto. Toss with 12 ounces cooked spaghetti and some torn basil.

Pesto Mussels Saute 4 sliced garlic cloves in a pot with olive oil until golden, 2 minutes. Add 2 pounds mussels and 1 cup white wine; cover and cook until the mussels open, about 4 minutes. Stir in 3 tablespoons pesto.

Pesto Potato Salad Cook 2 pounds quartered new potatoes in salted boiling water until tender, 10 to 15 minutes; drain and cool slightly. Whisk 1 cup mayonnaise, 3 tablespoons pesto and the juice of 1 lemon; toss with the potatoes and 1 cup diced celery.

Pesto Wings Marinate 2 pounds chicken wings in 1/2 cup pesto and 1/4 cup each cider vinegar, hot sauce and honey. Roast at 425 degrees F, 40 minutes. Toss with chopped basil and mint.

And here’s a great video showing you how to make the most delicious egg pesto melt

How did the quirky name, Pesto Princess, come about?
At a market in the early days, someone asked her what her company name was. Without thinking, she replied, “Pesto Princess”, and giggled.
And so it was.
