#NO CONTOUR MAKEUP#

What is the latest craze in the makeup industry? What’s the one word you hear in almost every makeup tutorial?

CONTOUR!!!

So I did a makeup application in which I didn’t contour at all.  I did however shape my brows as I cannot embrace those misshapen things, plus I didn’t apply any falsies.

So this is what I ended up with.

Here is my CONTOUR-LESS look!

Applying foundation

Mascara

My Nina joining in on the fun!

Nina is such a diva!

So I have on: Foundation, mascara, blush, shaped brows, lipstick.

I think overall this look is good for an everyday easy application.  Look, I enjoy wearing falsies on a daily basis, even if it’s just on the outer half of my lash line .  I doubt I’ll go falsie-less on a permanent basis.

The whole post is about not contouring, and I think, I can embrace it.  Unlike many women, I don’t mind my big nose at all.  It doesn’t function whatsoever… having chronic sinusitis and all, but it’s there.  Anyway, would I stop contouring all together? Nope!  I think contouring is great!  Remember when every makeup artist would tell you to blend, blend and blend in their tutorials and so forth?  Well, that still holds true, but if you’re into contouring, please do it properly and BLEND  the CONTOUR.

And if you don’t contour at all, well, that’s your decision.  It’s not the end of the world if you’re indeed a minimalistic makeup user.

If you ARE into CONTOURING, please learn from the best makeup artist, Samer Khouzami and celebs like Lilly Ghalichi.

liebster-awards

The questions

  • What is your favourite beauty product you cannot live without?

special cleansing gelmac-studio-fix-fluidThis changes quite often. I fall in and out of products very frequently. Can anyone say brand fidelity? My longest standing beauty products would have to my Dermalogica skin care products and my MAC Studio Sculpt Fluid foundation and MAC Mineralize powder. I have always used these products for years and always restock them even though I am fortunate to have a countless amounts of brands that have moved through my dressing table/ bathroom cabinets.

  • Who is your ultimate date?

dateThis gorgeous man and just FYI ladies, he’s been my date for the past 7 years.

  • If you could go anywhere in the world right now where would it be and why?

HomeHome… or anywhere that feels like it. FYI, its people that make places feel like home. I love being at home with the people I love. With all my creature comforts. Bliss!

  • What is the last thing you take off at night ?Business

You nosy buggar…. none of your business. In all honestly, I don’t really know, depends what method I use before bed. I like to mix it up. It would be between hair clips/jewellery/makeup.

  • What would you spend R5000.00 rand on, if you were given 1 minute to make a decision right now?holiday

A holiday with le boyfriend. Somewhere…

  • What is top of your bucket list?happy

To be happy and have those around me be happy BUT I don’t really believe in bucket lists… if you are interested you can read about my ramblings on that, here.

  • Name and shame your worst public blooper … as in ever!blooper

I’m honestly so tired I can’t really think of anything worse than this… and this is pretty mediocre. When I was 11 years old I was given a mobile phone from my mother and at the time I was the only one at school who had a phone.. You also were not supposed to take mobile phones to school. Anyway, we had a morning assembling every Wednesday morning and I had forgotten to switch it off and my mum was only calling to leave a message to tell me to have a good day but it rang and interrupted the assembly and in front of the whole school I had to hand it to the principal. At the time it was the worst thing in the world, now I wouldn’t care less… lol. Sooo… sorry that’s a bit boring!

  • What is your favourite comfort food?

comfort foodChocolate is my day-to-day comfort food and anything super tasty like curry, stew with dumplings or when I’m back home in the UK nothing beats a steak and kidney pudding!!

All the blogs I frequent have been doing the rounds with these awards so I’m not going to nominate anyone 🙂

Guest Contribution : The Ingredients that Are Good and Bad for Your Pet Dog

The Ingredients that Are Good and Bad for Your Pet Dog

Meet Jordan Walker, one of the regular contributors at the Coops And Cages blog. As one who shares the same interest in dogs, Jordan will talk about those good and bad ingredients that could be found in our pet dog’s plate.

Ingridients that are good and bad for your pet dog

Dogs are one of the best animal companions. They could be your partners during your morning walk at your neighborhood’s nearby park. They could be your silly roommate that keeps you away from being bored. Or they could just be your energy fix when you’re feeling down. Because your pet dog makes you happy, you feel the need to feed him more as a token of gratitude, as a sign that you also care for him.

The happy face that you see from your dog when he’s eating makes your heart filled with warmth. But as a responsible pet owner, you need to be more aware and more conscious as to what you feed your dog. You want your pet to be happy, too, right? In this article, you’ll be able to know the good and the bad ingredients to your waggling animal companion.

The good and bad meat ingredients

Meat is an essential part of a dog’s diet because it is a great source of protein. Protein consists of amino acids which are important for your dog’s growth and development. Meat could come from chicken, duck, turkey, pork, beef, lamb and salmon. The lean parts of these meat sources are considered good meat, but how about the so-called bad meat?

Bad meats are generally the by-products of slaughtered animals such as the head, neck, lungs, liver, kidneys, blood, bones, brain, spleen, etc. Though most people think that these by-products are also meat since they come from animal sources, they are not really classified as meat because they lack real meat content. Plus, these by-products might be consisting of diseased tissues and organs.

Depending on the breed, size and activity of your dog, his protein requirements differ from any other dog.

Whole grains and corn/soy/wheat products

Foods containing carbohydrates provide energy to your pets. Examples of carbohydrate-rich foods are whole grains such as corn, soy, wheat, rice, barley, oats, potatoes, sweet potatoes, peas, and many more. It is often debated that dogs don’t really have a nutritional need for carbohydrates but they could still burn carbohydrates to use as an extra source of energy and help improve their digestion.

You may include whole grains in their diet as long as you provide them with quality ingredients. But among the whole grain products that you should cross out in your list are corn, soy and wheat, as well as the milling leftovers. This is because these whole grain products are only considered as cheap fillers in any dog food.

Essential fatty acids and animal fats

Fats have gained a bad rap in animal nutrition, but not all fats are bad. Essential fatty acids such as omega-3 and omega-6 are among the good fats that your pet dog needs. You could derive these good fats from salmon oil, flaxseed oil, canola oil, chicken fat and pork fat. These essential fatty acids add flavor to your pet’s food and they also help your pet to maintain a healthy and shiny coat.

On the other hand, animal fats which are obtained from the “4-D” class (dead, dying, diseased, disabled) are obviously bad for your pet’s consumption. If bad fats are fed to your dog, your pet would be at risk of developing health problems such as obesity.

Natural and artificial preservatives

Preservatives are usually added to your dog’s kibble to prevent early spoilage of the food, as well as improve its taste. Though preservatives are generally attached to the notion of unhealthy and artificial, there are actually preservatives which are good for your dog such as the natural tocopherols (vitamin E) and ascorbic acid (vitamin C).

Ethoxyquin, propylene glycol, BHT and BHA are some of the artificial preservatives you have to watch out for when choosing dog foods. These artificial preservatives are often linked with the development of several health conditions such as cancer, kidney and liver damage, and intestinal blockage.

Now that you have known what’s good and bad for your pet dog, it is really essential for you to read the dog food’s label. If you want your pet to stay healthy, stay away from the abovementioned bad food ingredients. As to how much good food your pet dog should consume, always ask your vet first. Dogs have different built, activities and health conditions. Based on their current health status, your vet may prescribe your dog to eat as much as this or as little as that. But generally knowing these tips, you know what food ingredients need to be consumed or avoided. Dogs would feel your love for them if you treat them as you love yourself. Provide them shelter, give them nutritious food and play with them!

#GOODY BAG – WHAT DID I GET FROM THE KRYOLAN/EDL Hair & Beauty LAUNCH PARTY?

On the 24th January 2015 I attended the EDL Hair & Beauty Studio on Lynnwood and KRYOLAN launch party.

It was a fabulous affair indeed, there was lights, cameras and a lot of glamorous action.

We were surrounded with champagne, delicacies, music, photographers, sexy cars, people, celebs of course and so much more.  The EDL store was open for business and tours for anyone at the launch.  The owners Natalie & Esidio Camara and Elaine & Danny de Lima can be extremely proud of what they’ve achieved with this salon.  Across the board is the consensus that this salon is totally different to any other in South Africa.  It is a clean, refreshing, vibrant, professional space with that European feeling, as it’s situated right next to AROMA.

You will always see the owners, manager,  the professional artists, hair stylists, nail and beauty therapists there.  Ready to make you feel very special.

Towards the end of the evening, some of us lucky women received a gift bag with lots of goodies in.   The items were:
