Good Friday Morning !
So on the 29th of July 2014 was my Neapolitan Mastiff Nina’s first birthday and I just had to organise her a cake and prezzies.
Here is the recipe:
1 Large apple or two smaller ones
1,5 cups rice flour/gluten-free
1/4 cup corn flake crumbs
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon bicarb of soda
1/2 cup plain full cream yogurt
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons honey
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 tub low-fat cream cheese
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons plain full cream yogurt
2-3 tablespoons rice flour/almond flour
Preheat oven to 200 deg C
Core apple then grate it, set aside.
Sieve the dry ingredients in a bowl.
In a separate bowl mix wet ingredients, add the cheese and apple.
Then add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Fold together and pour into prepared small cake tin or cupcake tin.
Bake for about 30 min until golden brown.
Mix all the ingredients together until it’s a smooth consistency.
I added edible colour and glitter. (optional)
I used a zip lock bag to do the piping. Just spoon the frosting into the bag and cut a tiny hole in the corner and let the decorating begin.
So give it a try! Nina also received some gifts and of course shared her cake with Donatella! Let me know what you think and comment below! Also remember that a healthy dog diet should consist of good quality pellets with a higher percentage of protein. Cooking food or left overs is not good for your pet. Dogs can’t digest cooked bones, it’s not good for them. This cake is a treat that my dogs will be getting on their birthdays. Just as we have treats on special occasions. Some of us more than most. lol.
Remember that your pets should be treated with respect and love, but as the Dog whisperer puts it… remember that: first it’s an animal, then a species, then breed, then a pet.
Lots of Blessings

A French polish can be a disaster when doing it yourself and can sometimes end up with a huge mess rather than effortless-chic. Essence have a genius French manicure brush which is only R31.95 and is curved to give you easy application of white nail polish to your tips in one fail-proof swoop in order to achieve gorgeous white tips which can then be topped by a nude pink.
I happened to give my latest purchase of Essence polish Nail Art Special Effect topper with a “feather effect” a whirl on top and I was seriously in love with the results! The nail art topper is only R34.95!
How I achieved my manicure:
- Prepared my nails by buffing and shaping as desired.
- Dipped my Essence French Manicure brush into my white Rimmel Brit Manicure polish for nail tips and in one swoop on each nail achieving a gorgeous white tip.
- Swooped one coat on each nail of Rimmel Brit Manicure in natural pink nail colour.
- Applied a coat of Essie 3-Way Glaze to each nail.
- Lastly applied a topped off with Essence Nail Art Special Effect Topper.
Quick. Simple. Easy. Cheap.
What is not to love? They were the perfect nails for my birthday on the weekend!
Good morning to you! 💋
Many times I get requested to show how I apply my eyeshadow. The one thing I enjoy about the way I apply eyeshadow is that it’s very easy, fast and when using other colors is will look very different even though I use the same method.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s not the only way I apply shadow. But this is the fastest way for me. It’s my “everyday easy look”. Ok, for some it may seem much, but honestly it probably doesn’t take me for than 20 -30 min to finish from applying the foundation and finishing off with my gloss or lipstick.
So here it goes: I start off by applying the color I want in the crease of my eye, then blending it out slightly. Not too much.
Then I add the highlighting color on the center of my eye and of course on my brow bone and I then blend all the connecting edges together so that no harsh lines are showing.
As you can see I apply a bit of color also at the bottom of my lower lash line and connect it on the outer corner of my eye.
Now it’s time for the eyeliner. I like to apply my liner quite thick, but start thin if you’re not used to it, and if you feel you could use more, then gradually make it thicker. Easier to add, than to take off in the instance of makeup application.
I then shape my brows, add mascara. I often use false lashes on the outer corners of my upper lash line.
Obviously I’ve already applied my foundation, but I finish off my whole look with blush and lipgloss or lipstick.
Once I’ve blended everything together properly and I’m dressed, accessorized and I’ve done my hair, the amount of makeup I’ve got on looks normal. Lol.
There you go. My easy makeup look using color.
See you again soon! 💄💄💄

Hey there Pouters
Have you ever looked at pigment pots in makeup stores and thought to yourself how on earth do people use it? It’s quite ‘shocking’. The colors are very deep, intense and bright.
In my opinion, the secret to using it successfully is in the 1) base, 2) blending and the use of water.
Here are a few photos of me using pink and purple pigments from INGLOT.
I first used a KRYOLAN white paste as a base for the colors to ‘stick’. As you can see, I also used sticky tape to form a straight line and also to catch fallout from the pigment powder. A cream eyeshadow was used on the inner corner and on the brow bone.
The more you blend, the less intense the colors will appear.
I shaped my brows, applied liquid eyeliner on the upper lashline, applied eyeliner on my lower waterline and of course topped it all with mascara.
As you can see the look isn’t as intense as it looked in the beginning when pigment was being applied.
I mentioned earlier that one can use water with pigments. That will cause a very intense look, but extremely difficult to blend. You’ll have to blend the edges out with dry pigment powder afterwards.
Another use for pigment is adding powder to clear nail varnish. You’ll have your very own custom nail color..
Enjoy your fabulous, colorful and
