THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: CIPRIA MILANO

A few weeks ago I was fortunately invited to attend the launch of Cipria Milano in Cape Town at the exquisite Nobu at the One and Only.

How amazing is this invite? Colours for days!

Cipria Milano was a brand I was not familiar with – and so I listened very intently to the details. It’s refreshing to come across a fresh approach to beauty, strength and confidence at a valuable price. All of which the brand lives up to.With now being freshly available on South African shores, Cipria Milano is fresh from Italy – synonymous with Italian standards of quality and most of all a great choice of hair care, fragrances, a wonderful selection of makeup and cosmetics that are innovative and of a very high quality but most importantly – the affordability is the biggest draw. The brand is proudly family owned and run with strong values and also prides itself in being diverse as well as cruelty free.

A unofficial slogan i took from the launch is… high end cosmetics do not need to be high priced. That is the message that they are trying to get across.

Some goodies we were given to try are the following and as you can see the prices are so affordable – anyone can look good!

NYX Butter Gloss

Let me start off this post by saying that I am in no way a lipgloss lover. I prefer lipstick in general.

20150823_105814

Then I received one of these butter glosses and still I was sceptical as it is just another lipgloss with a catchy name.

20150823_105757

My main problem with lipgloss is the feeling it leaves on my lips. My lips feel sticky and superficial in a way. I want to wear something on my lips without having to feel it. But I decided to give it a fair chance and try it and decide for myself without being biased in any way.

And I actually ended up liking this  a lot. It has a sweet scent to it that I find quite delightful. It applies like a dream and feels extremely comfortable on my lips. There is no feeling of stickiness and I know it is there, but it does not make me think of my lips the whole day. I understand the name Butter Gloss as it feels as if it melts on my lips like butter.

Shade: BLG02 Eclair

The shade I have is a very light pinkish nude colour and I find it perfect for the days when I want something more subtle on my lips. I will not be able to report properly about colour payoff as I have only used this in a very light shade and have not tried darker shades in this gloss.

This gloss has definitely changed the way I look at lipgloss in general and changed my mind in a very positive way. Will I repurchase this gloss again? Heck yes, it is worth every cent. It retails for about R124-95 which is a bit more pricey than other drugstore lipgloss, but I will happily pay that again. You can find NYX products at Clicks stores nationwide and they have a huge range of products available.

Till next time,

Leandra

Wet ‘n Wild Coloricon Trio Eyeshadow

I was sent this lovely little palette to review earlier this year, but fell instantly in love with it and it quickly became a  permanent fixture in my makeup bag. So much, that I had forgotten to write a review about it. So when I was using it once again Friday morning, I realised that it is very close to hitting pan, and that I should tell you how I have been experiencing it.

E380B – Walking on Eggshells

Now let me tell you why I love this little palette so much.

  1. The colours are simply beautiful.
  2. It blends easily without a fuss.
  3. No fallout of product at all.
  4. It does last a long time. Seeing that I have been using mine for nearly five months every day and it still has not physically hit pan yet.
  5. The shades in this palette are right up my alley and I have been able to pull off many different looks with it.
  6. It lasts most of the day, but I have found that if I apply an eyelid primer that it extends my wear to the whole day.

As you can see they are marked eyelid, browbone and crease. I have tried applying it as they indicate and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but I prefer to wing it each day and see what looks I can come up with.

20151014_070949-1

I know this picture does not do a lot of justice as the lighting is just so bad, but as you can see I used the browbone and eyelid shade to create this look. It is a very natural everyday look for me. And I use the crease shade a lot when I want to add a subtle smoky eye. The gold undertones in the brown is just perfect.

Anyway, I will definitely be repurchasing this product. You can find all Wet ‘n Wild products at Clicks stores nationwide and this little gem will only set you back R49-95, which is great value considering the great quality.

Till next time

Leandra

Ps: This products was given to me for reviewing purposes and has not altered my view of the product whatsoever.

Beautiful eyes with Catrice in 6 easy steps

I love doing my eye makeup. Even more so than my lips or my cheeks. I always feel that when my eye makeup is perfect, that everything else will fall into place. In this post I will explain to you how you can have beautiful eyes using only 6 Catrice makeup items.

20150905_111754

Step 1: Catrice Prime and Fine Eyeshadow Base (R62-99) – This is such a lovely product to use as you only need to apply a little bit of product. It actually enhances the colour of your eyeshadow and it makes your eyeshadow last longer.

Step 2: Catrice eyebrow set  (R89-95) – Fill in your eyebrows using this product. There are 2 colours, one for blondes and one for brunettes and it also contains a little tweezer. It is perfect for everyday use.

20150905_100949Step 3: Catrice Absolute Rose eyeshadow palette in Frankie Rose to Hollywood (R89-95) – This 6 pan eyeshadow palette contains lovely colours which can easily transform from day to night. The colours are highly pigmented and blends easily while they last the whole day.

Step 4: Catrice Velvet matt smokey Eyes Pencil in 020 Avockhaki (R44-95) – This pencil is dual ended with the pencil being on the one side and a little brush applicator being on the other side. It is matte and the colour payoff is amazing. It blends and smudges easily and this khaki colour compliments the rose eyeshadow colours perfectly. Perfect for daytime use.

20150905_100952

Step 5: Catrice Made to stay inside eye Khol Kajal (R49-95) – I prefer to use black eye pencils for a night time look. It is retractable and waterproof. This product glides on smoothly and stays put the whole day which is great. I just hate it when my eyeliner creep into the corners of my eyes after a few hours. This product is wonderful as it eliminates that problem entirely.

Step 6: Catrice Jet Lash Speed Volume Mascara in Ultra black (R74-95) – I love this mascara. The arrow shaped applicator does a great job at seperating and lengthening my lashes while giving me the desired volume I so desperately need. The deep black colour makes my lashes look really defined and beautiful. I am already using my second tube of this lovely mascara.

There you have it. Six products you can use from Catrice cosmetics which can be easily transformed from day time to night time looks. I have been using all of these products for a few months now and they are great quality and they all cost under R500, which is great value.

DermaFix BB Cream

A little while ago Fi sent me samples of this BB cream to test. I am however not a BB cream lover at all because they sometimes claim to be something that they aren’t. So most of the times I try a BB cream once and feel so disappointed that I end up going back to using my trusty foundation daily.

20150607_095104

I actually loved the product in the sample so much that I ended up purchasing myself the full size product. Here are my reasons for loving this product so much:

  1. It applies like a dream and for some reason I don’t need to apply a primer when I use this product.
  2. It gives maximum coverage, and this is the first time that I have come across a BB cream that gives me the desired coverage I want.
  3. It sits nice and tight on my skin, yet my skin is able to breathe.
  4. It lasts. My skin looks radiant and flawless the whole day.
  5. It has a SPF25. Great for me as I have now eliminated 2 steps in my morning beauty routine. No need for primer or SPF.
  6. The pump dispenser works like a dream.
  7. It does not smell of anything and does not irritate my skin in any way.

20150830_115615

“The DermaFix Corrective Coverage range is formulated to provide 4-in-1 benefits to variety of skin care concerns and skin tones, these benefits include;

  1. Treat the skin with high levels of active skin care ingredients.
  2. Moisturise and smooth dehydrated skin.
  3. Prime and perfect the skin’s surface.
  4. Camouflage and colour correct the skin’s tone.”

It contains active ingredients like Vitamin E, Soy Peptides, Powerful Antioxidants. They come in 3 shades, Light, Medium and Dark. My skin tone is very milky and most of the time I struggle to just find a product that matches my porcelain complection, and I was surprised to see that the light colour was a perfect match for me.

They come in a 32ml pump bottle and they retail for R250, and you can purchase them from Beautyworx online shop, and I just want to give a shout out to Beautyworx for their amazing customer service!

Seems like Dermafix has restored my faith in BB creams!
