MUD By The Mountain

MUD WC LAUNCHThe launch for the press of the MUD Showroom in Claremont was small and intimate and involved a brief history of MUD as a brand, and how Brenda Botha, the owner of MUD South Africa has gone about launching MUD as a sustainable business model with an added purpose of rewarding professional makeup artists who make use of the products, unlike some other high profile brands within South African shores. Lindsay Fernandez is the proud owner and distributor of MUD within the Western Cape region and you can see her passion and excitement to be the name behind the MUD for the City of the Pretty Mountains, Cape Town and the whole of the Western Cape.

The MUD Showroom is actually quite large, it reminds me of a concept store, the products are displayed in a user-friendly interface with easily deciphered areas for Eyes, Face, Lips etc. The sales representatives are really fun and extremely knowledgeable about the MUD range, Vanessa covering the Southern Suburbs and Inge covering the Northern Suburbs will really give you the how-to and low-down on any questions relating to makeup and how to achieve your MUD look with the greatest ease. Vanessa did a small demo on Inge and transformed her look to ultra glam in about 10 minutes. When visiting the showroom, you will see its not just a retail space, its a place for education, a place for empowerment and a place to assist in getting your true beauty to shine through.

Before going to the launch I had too much excitement with the fact that MUD have officially launched their flagship store for the Western Cape in Claremont, directly opposite the main entrance to Cavendish Square in Vineyard Road. By now I am quite familiar from the brand and already sport some of their products on my day-to-day makeup routine but the simple fact that they are literally within driving distance excites me to no end because I can pop by whenever I have the chance and secondly, its MUD on my doorstep, goodbye credit card balance, helloooo pretty makeup!

True to form, I had pre-ordered a few goodies for me. Not for my kit. Just for me! I find as a makeup artist once I end up placing stuff in my makeup kit it becomes part of my work and I can not use it on me anymore, I think I have issues 😉 and in due time there will be reviews on these products and will undoubtedly be adding them to makeup kit in the foreseeable future. Anyone that happens to also follow me on Instagram would of seen some of these pictures, but I thought I’d share them here too.

For more information on the Western Cape MUD Showroom please contact  MUD Western Cape/ Rapid Culture and be sure to check out their Facebook and Twitter @rapid_culture / @MUDsouthafrica to keep updated with events, new products, existing products and specials!

Smitten about my Mitten…

Okay Ladies,

Thanks to BeautyWorx for introducing me to this beauty, I am absolutely in love!

Sadly I am one of those lazy people when it comes to skin care after a long days work or a late night out,

I know how bad it is for your skin and i REALLY do try hard to stick to my skin care routine and most of the time i succeed but I do have days that are just poo. So if you are like me, don’t change your browser page as this little baby is absolutely perfect for you and every other person out there that loves their skin.

Introducing SMITTEN

Smitten01

BE SMITTEN WITH YOUR MITTEN

Do you like to smooth, “squeaky” clean feeling on your face after washing but find foaming cleansers leave your skin feeling dry & cleansing milks remain on your skin?

Maintaining our skins natural PH levels are vital and this is done by simply not striping the natural oils from the surface of our skins and eliminating additional oils that may clog the pores & cause irritation.

With just warm water, SMITTEN gives a mild daily skin exfoliation while preserving its natural & delicate PH balance!

Absolutely nothing but warm to hot water needed for a beautiful skin – Smittens even remove waterproof mascara! That’s why SMITTEN are perfect for all ages, all skin types and all budgets.

By eliminating costly cleansers, wipes and eye makeup removers that can irritate your skin – SMITTEN gently cleanses your skin preparing it for your plumping serums, hydrating moisturizers and active ingredients that can be absorbed more effectively after it’s micro exfoliation.

SMITTEN are made up from fabric woven with fibers that have super-fine density. These fibers are 1/100th the diameter of a human hair and 1/20th the diameter of a single strand of silk. These tiny fibers are able to penetrate the finest, microscopic particles of oil, dirt and even bacteria on any surface.

Unlike the rounded threads of ordinary cotton cloth, which just push dirt along the surface of the skin, SMITTEN numerous wedge-shaped fibers actually capture and pull particles of oil, dirt, and bacteria  into the internal structure of the cloth and away from your skin.

The result is superior cleansing that eliminates the very environment (oil, dirt, bacteria, and grime) in which skin conditions can erupt.

SMITTEN care is also very simple – they wash like a dream. Use any mild soap, hand soap is best. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry naturally.

When traveling with your SMITTEN use the PVC pouch & forget about the cumbersome, leaking cleansers and eye makeup removers!

Smitten

I won’t lie as always I am a bit skeptical with trying out new things and because you don’t need to use your smitten with soap or a cleansing lotion i did as always raise an eyebrow at first, So after getting mine i went straight home (Keep in mind this was after a days work so I did have a full face of make-up, from foundation, to blush, 7 x eye colors, mascara the works) and I put my new investment straight to test and yes by my surprise I was and still am absolutely amazed by this fantastic product, I have been struggling with a bit of a dry skin during the past few months due to winter and i have a pretty set out skin routine from cleansing to scrub (No not every night), mask, toning and moisturizing and sadly even-though i use a high end brand I cannot say I had the same results with my products as I have with my Smitten after just one use, as you will see in the Video below my skin has breakouts (which is due to the oil content in my skin) which i did not have before hand and my skin was Uber dry so much that my foundation would flake even with wearing a primer AND moisturizer.

I have used the Smitten everyday since the weekend and cannot see how i would ever use a cleansing product like i did i however still tone and Moisturize though, but the Smitten exfoliates and cleans for me and my skin’s natural oil balance is back in balance, My skin is feeling silky smooth and Looks great (apart from the few breakouts, but you know what they say… it gets worst before it gets better hehe)

Seriously ladies this is definitely something everyone should invest in, I can with a 100% honesty say this pink beauty works like a bomb.

Please see the attached link for my first ever “vlog”, i was just going to blog it but the photo’s just did not do the smitten justice.

Good evening, Poutlings.

I trust that you are all well and keeping warm.

Firstly I would like to apologize for being MIA for so long, If you know me personally you should know I have recently started working full time as a Make-up artist for one of my favorite brands, so I have been occupied else where, I will however try to blog more often as I have so many events and happenings documented that needs to be blogged.

Anyway enough about that, Lets get into it.

My blogs for tonight will be a two part blog of which this one will be about BeautyWorx and the one to follow about one of the products I purchased through BeautyWorx.

BeautyWorx_Logo_1

BeautyWorx is a online based shop for all your beauty needs.

Beauty-Worx was founded by Wendy and started with her business partner Bronwyn in 2013. Both have a love for anything beautiful but just don’t have the time to crawl the shops looking for their favourite brand or testing the new craze. It is also important that we sell the more niche, unusual or high-end products that we have already tried and tested.

“Our online store is available to anyone and everyone – even though we are ‘online’ we do our best to help wherever possible and like our customers to know that there is a person behind the pc. Our purchasing process is a simple one and who wouldn’t want to buy their Favorit products or try some new ones in the comfort of their own home completely outside of office hours?”

#RUBYWOO, HOW ARE YOU! 💄💄💄💋

Hey there gorgeous.

Recently I went to a dear friends wedding. So I thought I would show you show you how I did my makeup.

So many makeup artists say you should have one focal point on your face. And generally they’re right. But there is one look where you could pull off strong eyes and strong lips. And that’s when using Red lips.

This is how I do it…

20140614-180944-65384470.jpg

20140702-074714-28034184.jpg

First, it’s all about contouring and highlighting and of course blending it all properly.

20140702-075019-28219342.jpg

Then I add a shimmery highlighting eyeshadow in the corner of my inner eyes and on the brow bone. After that I apply black eyeliner and set it with black eyeshadow on my lower lash line.

20140702-075404-28444417.jpg

I then added a darker shade of eyeshadow on my outer eyelid and blending it to the crease. Giving it a slightly smokey effect. After which I add eyeliner with a tapered brush and an eyeliner paint pot. Of course I shape my brows. Brows are the frame of the face, the face is the picture. So I always shape my brows. As thick, as thin as I want.

I then finished off with falsies and the famous Rubywoo MAC red lipstick!!!

20140710-072957-26997951.jpg

20140710-073416-27256503.jpg
In a nutshell, I used KRYOLAN foundations, INGLOT eyeshadows and of course Rubywoo lipstick.

I love wearing this look when going out. It’s strong, yet feminine. 💋

Have a fabYOUlous day!!!

#BLUE EYESHADOW FOR DAYTIME

Good morning to you! 💋

Many times I get requested to show how I apply my eyeshadow. The one thing I enjoy about the way I apply eyeshadow is that it’s very easy, fast and when using other colors is will look very different even though I use the same method.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not the only way I apply shadow. But this is the fastest way for me. It’s my “everyday easy look”. Ok, for some it may seem much, but honestly it probably doesn’t take me for than 20 -30 min to finish from applying the foundation and finishing off with my gloss or lipstick.

So here it goes: I start off by applying the color I want in the crease of my eye, then blending it out slightly. Not too much.

20140602-063012-23412771.jpg

Then I add the highlighting color on the center of my eye and of course on my brow bone and I then blend all the connecting edges together so that no harsh lines are showing.
As you can see I apply a bit of color also at the bottom of my lower lash line and connect it on the outer corner of my eye.

20140602-063144-23504309.jpg

20140602-063144-23504471.jpg

Now it’s time for the eyeliner. I like to apply my liner quite thick, but start thin if you’re not used to it, and if you feel you could use more, then gradually make it thicker. Easier to add, than to take off in the instance of makeup application.

20140602-063754-23874760.jpg

I then shape my brows, add mascara. I often use false lashes on the outer corners of my upper lash line.

20140602-064149-24109149.jpg

Obviously I’ve already applied my foundation, but I finish off my whole look with blush and lipgloss or lipstick.

20140602-064556-24356271.jpg

Once I’ve blended everything together properly and I’m dressed, accessorized and I’ve done my hair, the amount of makeup I’ve got on looks normal. Lol.

20140602-064858-24538826.jpg

20140602-064858-24538960.jpg

20140602-064859-24539194.jpg

20140602-064858-24538582.jpg
There you go. My easy makeup look using color.

See you again soon! 💄💄💄
