#GOODY BAG – WHAT DID I GET FROM THE KRYOLAN/EDL Hair & Beauty LAUNCH PARTY?

On the 24th January 2015 I attended the EDL Hair & Beauty Studio on Lynnwood and KRYOLAN launch party.

It was a fabulous affair indeed, there was lights, cameras and a lot of glamorous action.

We were surrounded with champagne, delicacies, music, photographers, sexy cars, people, celebs of course and so much more.  The EDL store was open for business and tours for anyone at the launch.  The owners Natalie & Esidio Camara and Elaine & Danny de Lima can be extremely proud of what they’ve achieved with this salon.  Across the board is the consensus that this salon is totally different to any other in South Africa.  It is a clean, refreshing, vibrant, professional space with that European feeling, as it’s situated right next to AROMA.

You will always see the owners, manager,  the professional artists, hair stylists, nail and beauty therapists there.  Ready to make you feel very special.

Towards the end of the evening, some of us lucky women received a gift bag with lots of goodies in.   The items were:

#BOOKS YOU SHOULD HAVE IN YOUR READING COLLECTION 📖

Are you a reader?

I enjoy reading when I have time in between all my other work I have to do around the house. For me, reading at night in bed makes me fall asleep immediately. So reading in the day is much better. That way I can keep awake and actually follow the story. 😋

Here is a list I shared with a friend recently. Have you read any of them?

1) Wild Swans – Jung C’hang (based on true events)
2) Corner Shop – Roopa Farooki
3) any book by Francine Rivers (spiritual)
4) The Shack – William P Young
5) The Cleaner Of Chatres – Sally Vickers
6) The Gabriel Method – Jon Gabriel (nutritional and inspirational)
7) Eat Pray Love – Elizabeth Gilbert
8) A Thousand Days in Venice – Marlena de Blasi
9) A Year in Provence – Peter Mayle (who wrote the story A Good Year, which they made a movie with Russell Crowe)
10) Water For Elephants – Sara Gruen (better than the movie)
11) The Purpose Driven Life – Rick Warren (spiritual and inspirational)
12) The Egg and Sperm Race – Matthew Cobb. (Which I’m currently reading. A must read! Absolutely fascinating)

Of course there are more. But these are my favorites thus far.. I’d like to start the Game Of Thrones books though.

#HANDS DOWN – THIS IS THE BEST MAKEUP ARTIST IN THE WORLD 💋💄

Good Morning Pouter!

As you may or may not know, I love contouring and highlighting. Well, not so much highlighting, but definitely contouring.

I often share photos on our Facebook page showing how I look before and after.

There is one makeup artist and yes only ONE that perfects the whole contouring application. He inspires me with his before and after photos on a daily basis. One can only dream of being as good as he is, when it comes to drawing lines on women’s faces, transforming their “canvases” into works of living and breathing gorgeous art!

He is:

The best part? He doesn’t do the whole less is more nonsense, but only because he knows how to apply the more! Fine line people, fine liquid line!

He is touring the world where people can attend his workshops. So if you’re lucky enough to go…. GO!

Go ahead! Get inspired by Samer today!

MUD By The Mountain

MUD WC LAUNCHThe launch for the press of the MUD Showroom in Claremont was small and intimate and involved a brief history of MUD as a brand, and how Brenda Botha, the owner of MUD South Africa has gone about launching MUD as a sustainable business model with an added purpose of rewarding professional makeup artists who make use of the products, unlike some other high profile brands within South African shores. Lindsay Fernandez is the proud owner and distributor of MUD within the Western Cape region and you can see her passion and excitement to be the name behind the MUD for the City of the Pretty Mountains, Cape Town and the whole of the Western Cape.

The MUD Showroom is actually quite large, it reminds me of a concept store, the products are displayed in a user-friendly interface with easily deciphered areas for Eyes, Face, Lips etc. The sales representatives are really fun and extremely knowledgeable about the MUD range, Vanessa covering the Southern Suburbs and Inge covering the Northern Suburbs will really give you the how-to and low-down on any questions relating to makeup and how to achieve your MUD look with the greatest ease. Vanessa did a small demo on Inge and transformed her look to ultra glam in about 10 minutes. When visiting the showroom, you will see its not just a retail space, its a place for education, a place for empowerment and a place to assist in getting your true beauty to shine through.

Before going to the launch I had too much excitement with the fact that MUD have officially launched their flagship store for the Western Cape in Claremont, directly opposite the main entrance to Cavendish Square in Vineyard Road. By now I am quite familiar from the brand and already sport some of their products on my day-to-day makeup routine but the simple fact that they are literally within driving distance excites me to no end because I can pop by whenever I have the chance and secondly, its MUD on my doorstep, goodbye credit card balance, helloooo pretty makeup!

Face Primer, Makeup Wipes, Lipsticks in Burlesque, Pink Twinkle & Rose Clay, Natural Lip Pencil, Cake Liner in Black and a complimentary Lip Glaze in Cantaloupe from attending the Launch of the Western Cape Showroom

True to form, I had pre-ordered a few goodies for me. Not for my kit. Just for me! I find as a makeup artist once I end up placing stuff in my makeup kit it becomes part of my work and I can not use it on me anymore, I think I have issues 😉 and in due time there will be reviews on these products and will undoubtedly be adding them to makeup kit in the foreseeable future. Anyone that happens to also follow me on Instagram would of seen some of these pictures, but I thought I’d share them here too.

For more information on the Western Cape MUD Showroom please contact  MUD Western Cape/ Rapid Culture and be sure to check out their Facebook and Twitter @rapid_culture / @MUDsouthafrica to keep updated with events, new products, existing products and specials!

Please Hold Onto Your Knickers, Mr Grey Will See You Now…

fifty-shades-greyAs much as I hate to admit, I have in fact read the 50 Shades of Grey series finally, yes, I know like all my lovely friends told me “about time” and all that nonsense, although I did it I suppose out of peer pressure? I really struggled to read the books and was simply bored with the language. I know a lot of people, men and women alike were so into it and it was the best thing since sliced bread. I actually don’t have a problem with poor literature as long as it gets people to stop watching TV and start to do some reading. ANYWAY, that aside…. I raised an eyebrow however when I saw all the same people frantically sharing the official trailer which has been released for next year February 14th, Valentines Day.

I must say that the way it is portrayed in the trailer makes me slightly more interested in it than the books and I will eventually watch the movie but I promise you I won’t be running to the cinema on Valentines Day to watch this. I can think of better things to do, like wash my hair or sleep.

But, even if you are one of those people who will be running to the cinema please people calm down, pull yourself together because at the end of the day its only a movie of a very poorly written story so please don’t get your hopes up that it will be any better. If you want good stories there are plenty out there but I do not necessarily think this is the one we should all be going googly eyed over.
