Guest Contribution : First Impressions of Wet N Wild Nail Polish

For months I have been hearing about this beauty brand and that it was only available in certain Clicks stores. So when curious me got to try out a Red and a Glittery polishes I was rather happy.IMG-20150308-00011

I generally hate red on nails but decided I would use it paired with a glittery red on an accent finger. I totally love the brush , smooth strokes and no excessive polish dripping all over. I used a base coat and 2 coats of the polish. Extremely impressed as its lasted me 5 days before it started chipping and that to me was the sign to remove it. During the festive season I tried on the glittery on I used it as an overcoat of a beige/brown colour. I had to use several coats to get the colours of the glitter evenly over my nail. Once on it was rather pretty and I did get a few compliments. And the removing the glitter polish was a nightmare it took me ages, I scrapped and had to soak my nails. I wasn’t impressed with that and since then I have not used glitter polishes again.IMG-20150308-00012

I am keen to try out the other colours and products in the Wet n Wild range, I just wish more stores with stock them.

Guest Contribution : Wet ‘n Wild Mega Rocks Nail Glitter

If you love glitter on your nails, then you are going to love this product. I received the ‘At wild call’ colour to play with and had a lot of fun trying it out.Mega Rocks Nail Glitter 01 If you don’t know Wet ‘n Wild products then you should probably know that it is a very affordable American drugstore brand. And if you think that because it is affordable that it might lack in quality then you are seriously mistaken. I received a few of their goodies and are seriously falling in love with the brand. What makes this nail glitter seriously cool is the fact that the glitters are not round in shape, but they are actually hexagonal in shape, which makes for a very cool and different effect. It is a thick consistency that has two shades of glitter, one shade being bigger hex’s and the second shade a smaller hex, in a clear polish. In the one I tested the big glitters were purple/lavender and the small glitters were pink. I first used a very nude colour as a base and when it dried I added one coat of the glitter on top. Do not be alarmed about the thick consistency because it actually caught enough glitters for one nail. If you want to cover more of your nail with glitters then I would suggest you using more than one coat.Mega Rocks Nail Glitter Now the staying power of this product is amazing. I wore this nail polish for 5 days and still I had no chips! And because I wore the glitter coat on top, it actually protected my bottom nude coat. The picture with it on my nails was not taken on day one, but actually on day 4, just to illustrate how long it stays on.  We actually had done a bit of home renovations in the week I wore it and not even that could strip my  nails of it’s glitter. For me that is pretty impressive! Sometimes when we try and remove glitter from our nails, it becomes quite a time consuming exercise. Not in this case. Removal was a snap. I cannot wait to get my hands on more of these colours. You can buy Wet ‘n Wild products at selected Clicks stores and the Mega Rocks Range retails at about R59.95 each.

Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Polish

Using this nail polish was my first ever experience with a very well known and sought after drugstore brand, Wet n Wild which is available at selected Clicks stores.

The application of the polish was fairly easy, as the formulation of the polish is smooth and applies to the nail with ease however I did battle a little bit getting used to the oversized brush but once you get the hang of it works really well. Being that the shade I am wearing is not a dark or a light shade the pigment was lovely with one coat but for a fuller coverage I applied two coats and finished it off with a top coat. I am really loving the colour ON A TRIP and my nails are looking good!

Wet N Wild - MegaLast - On a Trip

All the shades In the Wet n Wild megalast range retail for R54.95 each.

Mani Monday – Essie Mint Candy Apple

Sometimes, I like to switch things up. This morning I woke up to a dull rainy day and decided – this is high time paint my nails. I chose a bright summery colour to contrast the weather and I am loving it. It’s fresh, clean, a little green and PERFECT for summer. It’s taken me a while to get used to the new Essie polish formula consistency as from previous it seems a lot thinner, which made it feel like it was hard to apply but now I am so pleased and I feel I’ve got the hang of I. I am finding that Essie seems to thicken up after use a couple of times which makes application tenfold times easier.

Here it is!

I bought MINT CANDY APPLE from Truworths (so happy Essie is available in retail stores now too) for R120.00

Have a fab week! My nails are already enjoying it.

Guest Contribution : Ciate Shell Manicure

I recently got to take the new Ciate Shell Manicure for a test drive and what a roller coaster it has been.

ciate-shell-manicure-femme-lifestyle

Firstly the kit is comprised of an instructional booklet , the cutest little funnel (so that you can put your shell bits back into the bottle) , and a coloured nail polish and in my case what I’d like to call a ‘Barbie’ pink.

This set comes beautifully boxed and my set was called ‘SHE SELLS SEA SHELLS – SHELL MANICURE’ , here see for yourself …

I set out by firstly reading the instruction… Yes I really did! Here is how the application of this set works when doing an accent nail such as my attempt.

Step 1 –

Apply a coat of colour to all nails except the accent nail

Repeat the process

Step 2 –

Pour your shells into the moulded plastic container that forms part of the packaging

Step 3 –

Paint your first accent nail and whilst still wet dip it into the shells, and press the shells down.

Repeat the process

And voila you have a shell manicure just like me …

Overall, I loved the look of this on my nails.

It was super fun to try and easy to achieve on my own. The nail polish itself lasted for about 3 days before showing tip wear and did not loose its shine. The shells however started dropping off within an hour and to be honest the texture is a little rough for me as it caught on everything.

This manicure however looks ever so pretty and feminine and the pink is just the prettiest and most feminine pink.

I have been stalking Ciate for sometime and I have really enjoyed the product and would love to try a few more in future.

Ciate Shell Manicure sets are available from Clicks nationwide towards the end of November.

It will retail for R349.95
