NOT EVERYTHING IS OFFENSIVE

20140328-074558.jpg

Thought for the day.

NOT EVERYONE FINDS EVERYTHING OFFENSIVE.

The word ‘NOT‘ is offensive. You are NOT beautiful.

The word ‘EVERYONE‘ is offensive. EVERYONE thinks you’re irritating.

The word ‘FINDS‘ is offensive. He always FINDS the worst in her.

The word ‘EVERYTHING‘ is offensive. EVERYTHING you have done in your life was a waste.

The word ‘OFFENSIVE‘ is offensive. In my opinion what you said about so and so. This and that. Him and her. Them and they is OFFENSIVE.

What is my point?

Don’t take everything to heart. What I’ve been noticing about people these days is that they finding anything and any word or term offensive.

People. Relax!!! One of these days we won’t be able to use any words in any language, because somewhere along the way, a vowel, a consonant, a verb, a term was used in the wrong manner according to YOU.

You know what? Let’s just stop any form of communication. Because what is the point? People are over sensitive.

At the end of the day, different people in different cultures, countries and even the same families are exactly that….Different! Our sense of humors aren’t the same. Our levels of “offense” aren’t the same.

I’m not saying not to care about other people’s feelings, but if you show that something doesn’t affect you. Then it’ll die out. Sometimes the problem is not with others, but with you holding on to a mere term or word. Wow. Such a small and sad world that is. (If something major happened to you, then yes. Protect your feelings, but also understand. The billions of people out there don’t know what you’ve been through. And yes. You have to walk a mile in ones shoes to understand. But, this post isn’t about that. It’s about chilling the flip out)

Be considerate, but also. Don’t shoot people down if they didn’t know that they may have obliviously offended you. And if you correct them, do so understandably and don’t throw the offense back with a offensive defense!!! That defeats the purpose you supposedly stood for.

And if you disagree with me. Please comment nicely below. Don’t get offensive because I was offensive. Because I’ll find it so offensive and say something offensive. Then you’ll reply with an offense. Then I’ll hit back with an offense and then you’ll be cheesed off, because of the offense and well………… You see where this is going????????

Just embrace positivity. Be positive. Be a blessing. Don’t be a negative Sally. Don’t think you’re an emotional scientist looking at people in an emotional lab and you need to do some experiment. Let’s all change for the better, judge less (and I’m sure some may think this post is all about judging), eat clean. Lol. And drink lots of water. Read a spiritual book, brain-fart less and just give someone a hug.

Breathe in and out. Relax the tit muscles! Life is all about learning. But learn and teach kindly.

The word ‘not’ isn’t offensive. You are NOT all the bad things people say about you.

The word ‘everyone‘ isn’t offensive. EVERYONE looks up to you, because you’re an inspiration.

The word ‘finds‘ isn’t offensive. He FINDS all that you think are imperfections about yourself perfect.

The word ‘everything‘ isn’t offensive. EVERYTHING about you is beautiful.

The word ‘offensive‘ isn’t offensive. They stand up for what they believe in without being OFFENSIVE.

See? Same words as above. Different set of mind. What set of mind are you and I tuned to?

Muchluv, BeBlessed

MY WEDDING DAY – SERVICE PROVIDERS – part 2, THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Hey there! So I hope you enjoyed my previous post on my wedding day about my wedding dress and where I got it. If not, please check it out wedding dress

Post 2, is all about the photographer. Christopher Munton. Actually, he isn’t a photographer, think of him as an artist.

I personally can’t stand cheesy wedding photos one sees these days. And sometimes it is the photographers that just are inexperienced. If you’re planning a wedding, I suggest you pay for a good photographer. Photos are what you end up with to remember the day forever. Not the shoes, not your perfume, or the amount of people you invited. So if you’re going to settle for a cheap photographer with a cliche portfolio, then that is what you’ll end up with…

The venue I chose sent me a list of suggested suppliers of photographers, musicians, makeup artists etc. Scrolling through the lists, Christopher’s work definitely stood out! It wasn’t normal wedding photos. It was art!

So if you’re planning your own wedding and you’re in need of the best photographer, please contact Emily and or Christopher. You will not be disappointed! I must say, he is also such a great person! You feel totally comfortable with him. He captures the most wonderful moments without being all up in your face. Chilled and relaxed is how I felt. I feel that the mood of the photographer can set the mood of the bride as he is there while she is getting ready. So if he can relax you, you’ll be way more calm walking into the chapel. MY WEDDING DAY – THE SERVICE PROVIDERS – part 1, THE DRESS

Good afternoon Dahlings.

So on the 5th of October 2013, I got married to my babsie. Ever since, I’ve been terribly busy, but I’ve always wanted to write up a post about the amazing service providers that made the day unforgettable. Post 1 will be about the dress.

To plan a wedding is easy if you know what you want and you’re not influenced by too many different opinions. Trust what you feel is right. I started with a mental list of exactly what I DIDN’T want.
For example: no poofy dress, no veil covering my face as I walked in, no updo hairstyle, no bridesmaids, no flower girls, no main table, no buffet, no garter throwing, no dj, no blingaling, no sparkly invites and so the list goes on. Now you look at that and you’re probably thinking that I had a terribly boring wedding. Haha. Boy are you mistaken.

Let’s start off with my dress. I knew I wanted a lace dress, mermaid shape. I knew I wanted a mantilla and that I wanted to look elegant. In my mind I had a vision. We then booked an appointment at PRONOVIAS in Sandton. Honestly, the most exquisite and beautiful wedding dress store ever. If you haven’t heard of PRONOVIAS, I suggest you have a look at their site. Dresses from designers like Elie Saab, Manuel Mota and Atelier. We were welcomed by the amazing staff and our consultant sat us down and showed us all the dresses on the computer. I then had to choose my favorites. And from those favorites, I had to choose 6 dresses which she would then get ready for me to try on.
I tried on the 6 dresses, but by the 2nd dress I knew I found the one. It’s name was SILABA, by Manuel Mota.

20140221-130710.jpg
I also got my headpiece, shoes and mantilla from PRONOVIAS. I’m terribly thankful for their amazing service, because I was losing weight before the wedding and they altered it perfectly with no complaints. (I didn’t lose weight for the wedding, it was a health issue I was facing.)

20140221-131004.jpg

20140221-131004.jpg
They had to take down so much of the dress. Bear in mind that this dress arrived 7 months after the appointment I made in January. It gets made in Spain and then sent over. If you’re planning on going to PRONOVIAS, make sure you make your appointment 6 months before your wedding. Minimum!

Our dear consultant was Lindiwe. What a lovely lady. So cute, tiny, friendly but the biggest sweetheart ever.

This was on the actual wedding day. 馃檪

20140221-133009.jpg
My mother and best friend.
My mother, aunt and sister also got their dresses from PRONOVIAS. Of course my mom spoiled me with lots of cocktail dresses for my honeymoon. I’m so blessed.

What I also love about their store is that they have sales where you can get selected cocktail dresses for R1000,00. These were dresses that normally costed over R5000,00 and more. So make sure to just pop in for a cocktail dress, they may have a sale on the go.

The GLAMOUR GLOSS GIRLS – SA’s MOBILE GLAMOUR PROFESSIONALS

Good morning pouters!

I am here to tell you about a fabulous new trend in South Africa. It’s a mobile styling team! They’re the first of it kind in South Africa and they’re taking the industry by storm with their very much unique concept.

20130912-062512.jpg
We were lucky enough to interview the founder of the GLAMOUR GLOSS GIRLS, JUSTINE ISAACSON.

20130912-112312.jpg

Justine working her magic on a bride.

1) Looking at your concept, I’m sure many beauticians wished they had come up with the idea first. How do you feel knowing that you are “the first of its kind” especially in something so awesomely different?

I’m sure someone has thought about this concept but just not implemented it like we have..it’s exciting to know there’s scope for something fun and fresh in the beauty industry and I’m sure there is loads more to come!

20130912-062726.jpg
2) Was it easy getting others to believe in your dream?

Once people had experienced us at events, they loved the idea and so word of mouth has got us moving. It was hard to sell a new idea without actually seeing the service for yourself and of course making sure our beauticians and artists were top quality 馃檪

3) What are the most popular functions the Glamour Gloss Girls get asked to be part of?

We have been fortunate enough to have our artists and beauty bar at the launch of Topshop nationwide. That was truely incredible. We also had nail art in store for Women鈥檚 Day, Brutal Fruit glambassidor event nationwide and our personal shoppers/stylists inside Forever New stores styling ladies to name a few of our top events and we have such exciting glam events coming up for summer 馃檪

4) Where are you based?

I am based in Johannesburg but we have artists and stylists nationwide.

20130912-062813.jpg
6) Are you planning on franchising Glamour Gloss Girls around South Africa?

One day … 馃檪

7) What would you like our readers to know about you Justine Isaacson and your Glamour Gloss Girls team?

We really are unique. What makes us different is that we take beauty and create an entertainment vibe making you and your guests feel like stars. The GGG team cater for any size event or function. We tailor- make the event to suite your needs. Our crew are all skilled and bubbly, ready to pamper and preen guests and make them leave looking and feeling better than when they arrived.

8) What do you see in the future of the Glamour Gloss Girls?

I think there is a huge amount of growth potential. I would like to have a great team of mobile artists and different mobile beauty bars glamming up SA! I can see us making that happen!

9) How many beauty ‘technicians’ are currently in your mobile team?

We have about 32 artists and stylists in our team

10) What tips can you give for brides-to-be?

Make sure you explain exactly what you want to your stylists and artist and have a trial. It’s important to know what look you want so there are no surprises on your big day! What I also suggest is having a trial on a day where you will be going out at night to see how the makeup lasts.

Be careful of spray tans I don’t reccomended them on your face. Make sure you have a translucent powder on the day you can touch up with, it will take the shine away and keep the make up set all day 馃檪

20130912-064048.jpg

20130912-064053.jpg

11) Can you please tell us what your top 5 beauty DO’s are? And of course, the top 5 DON’Ts?

路 Don’t use a liner that’s darker than the lipstick we all know you have lips you don’t need to line them like that!
路 Don’t wear foundation that is too dark for your skin tone, rather bronze over but this will look awful!
路 I believe less is always more!
路 Eyebrows should always be well threaded..I’m a big fan of threading.
路 I love hair extensions ( as I have fine hair) provided they are done well! If it鈥檚 going to give you the body you need in your hair grea;!just make sure you going to someone reputable.
路 Keep a little touch up kit in your bag with a little tester perfume,a nail file, eyeliner, concealer and nice lipgloss you never know where youl land up 馃檪
路 For a flawless skin, make sure to always clean your face properly with the right product for your skin type.Cleanser and moisturizer daily and the occasional mask will help give you the most radiant look for summer.
路 Don’t underestimate how important posture is!
路 There’s nothing more attractive to a man than a confident, well- presented women so let’s strut our stuff ladies!!

20130912-064145.jpg

20130912-064149.jpg

12) Can you mention some of the products you use?

For nails, unless we are doing an event where they have their own brand,we use Tip Top – they have an incredible range of good quality colours!
Make up : we have MAC,Stila,NARS, Kryolon and a few other professional brands only.
Massage: we have amazing oils, some direct from Thailand
Hair: we only style hair for events so no products really

13) As you get to meet many different people, how would you describe South African style?

I think South Africans are definitely more conservative than Europeans but we are steering more away from that and becoming more unique in our own style; bringing in our culture diversities and becoming more expressive in our dress sense and style.

20130912-064255.jpg

20130912-064301.jpg

20130912-064305.jpg

14) What do the women of South Africa want regarding beauty?

They want quality more than anything! Women in SA want the same selection as overseas and want to look and feel beautiful with the best service possible.

15) If any professional wants to be part of your amazing team, how can they go about it?

They can email us at info@theglamourglossgirls.com with their cv. I am always looking for talented bubbly artists to join our team.

Thank you and we look forward to pampering you soon!

#WALNUT GROVE SANDTON

Hello fashionistas!

I’ve been extremely busy planning my wedding, so I haven’t really had time to blog. But I’m back 馃檪

(I was thinking, after the wedding, I’ll write up a post on my wedding. Nothing too detailed, but more like a summary on the wedding. Like which photographer, cake baker, venue, dress, menu etc I chose. But that’s in about two months or so.)

Getting on with this post. Whenever we go to Sandton, we always have lunch at the WALNUT GROVE. It’s got fabulous food, cakes, breads(gluten free options too) and amazing coffee. It’s got a comfortable and relaxed, yet “larny” vibe to it.

If you do go to SANDTON please visit the WALNUT GROVE. It’s worth it!

What I also like about their restaurant is that if you spend a certain amount, you’ll get a free parking ticket!
