Good Morning Pouter!

As you may or may not know, I love contouring and highlighting. Well, not so much highlighting, but definitely contouring.

I often share photos on our Facebook page showing how I look before and after.

There is one makeup artist and yes only ONE that perfects the whole contouring application. He inspires me with his before and after photos on a daily basis. One can only dream of being as good as he is, when it comes to drawing lines on women’s faces, transforming their “canvases” into works of living and breathing gorgeous art!

He is:

The best part? He doesn’t do the whole less is more nonsense, but only because he knows how to apply the more! Fine line people, fine liquid line!

He is touring the world where people can attend his workshops. So if you’re lucky enough to go…. GO!

I hope I can attend one of his workshops some day!

When Was The Last Time You Took a Breath?

Somewhere, once upon a time, amidst the flowery part of the internet, I once upon a time stumbled across this quote and happened to save it to my iPad. If you follow me on Instagram @flea143 you will have already seen it; but if you haven’t here it is again.

Tomorrow I have 2 weeks and 2 days until I move onto a new chapter in my life. I am excited for the new venture but petrified and sad to be saying goodbye to the past 5 years…. Which has been the majority of my ‘adult’ life. Work – who would of thought it would ever mean so much in my life? Haha. Teenage me is laughing at me right now. Sometimes, I really hate being a “grown up”. #thistooshallpass #breathe

I can’t remember when I came across this message or why I decided to save it, but I believe past me was looking after future me. I was going through photos the other day, it hit me, like a ton of bricks. It’s a simple mantra, and holds so true to a turbulent time in my life right now. I think, in its own little way that it brought me some peace of mind.

So, the moral of the story is to not let yourself forget to breathe.

Disney Princesses On Instagram

Whenever I come across these, they make me laugh because not only are these characters our pop culture idols of the past – what they say rings true to exactly how I imagine they would #hashtag and share things with their followers, being us. Plus, they are 99% better than most of the celebrities out there!

Do I have a product review for you!

Have you ever wondered what celebrities use on their faces and thought you’d never be as lucky to use it on yourself? Well, thanks to MELROSE ARCH, my sister NATALIE, and METROPOLITAN COSMETICS I now too have my own celebrity beauty product.

Apply an even layer to clean skin
Leave in for 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes and remove with water
Use as a full mask or spot treatment
Use as often as needed

You see, the lovely lady at METROPOLITAN COSMETICS explained that when you apply the mud, it’s black but when it dries it will dry become gray. However, it will remain black on all the parts of your skin that has imperfections. So all your spots, blackheads and enlarged pores will stay black, because the product is extracting all the impurities out of your skin. How interesting is that? So… I tried it and as mentioned it did as promised.
See all the black dots on the picture below?

This product is truly amazing. After I did the mask facial, I applied my makeup and it looks flawless. It’s smooth and feels so clean. LOVE it.

#Hashtag Your #Wedding on #Instagram – Good Idea/ Bad Idea?

Instagram appears to be taking over weddings and I am not sure how I feel about it. I was gleefully pinning my way through Pintrest, wasting time really, and I came across one of the people I follow boards which I am going to call the Wedding Insanity Board and I found the above posted photo. Long story short, this woman is far from being in a relationship, never mind planning a wedding. ANYWAY.

My immediate reaction was, is this really what technology has done to us?

When I think about it, I guess it makes sense. Regardless of whether you want your wedding guests to take their own photos of your wedding, they’re going to do it, and at least this way you can see all the photos without having to check every single guests Facebook account. Assuming everyone who uses Instagram hashtags your wedding with the appropriate whatever (like #ShrekWedding) it’s in a backwards way, an organised way to see all of your photos.

I feel though, that there is something weird about it, though I can’t figure out what it is. I guess maybe it’s the idea that a cell phone application is playing such a big role on such a personal day. Personal in the sense that everyone posts photos of their meal or their night out WITH THE GURLS on Instagram but not everyone posts photos of their wedding day, complete with filters and captions and hashtags. With the boom of digital photography we’re getting used to seeing people’s wedding photos on Facebook but it still sometimes feels weird to me, in the sense of, is it okay that I’m seeing this? If you’re the couple who posted it, and I’m your friend on Facebook then I’m going to assume that yes, it’s okay.

But what about the couples who don’t realize that their friends are posting their own amateur wedding photos on all of their internets? Having been actively involved in professional wedding photography, I understand that a bridal couple WANT ALL THE PHOTOS. The general consensus is that the more pictures – the better. But being on the other side of the lens, I can tell you this is not true. Do you want the pictures where you have been caught at the wrong angle and look decidely pregnant, when you’re not? Do you want to see an unflattering closed-eye picture or just a bad picture from your professional wedding photographer? No, you don’t. You may say you do, but trust me. You don’t.

I’m seeing more and more of these #OurWedding examples on Pintrest. What do you guys think? Is it weird or is it a natural progression that’s totally not a big deal?

As a fairly new user to Instagram, I am enjoying it. You can follow me if you do so wish – @flea143
