#NO CONTOUR MAKEUP#

What is the latest craze in the makeup industry? What’s the one word you hear in almost every makeup tutorial?

CONTOUR!!!

So I did a makeup application in which I didn’t contour at all.  I did however shape my brows as I cannot embrace those misshapen things, plus I didn’t apply any falsies.

So this is what I ended up with.

Here is my CONTOUR-LESS look!

Applying foundation

Mascara

My Nina joining in on the fun!

Nina is such a diva!

So I have on: Foundation, mascara, blush, shaped brows, lipstick.

I think overall this look is good for an everyday easy application.  Look, I enjoy wearing falsies on a daily basis, even if it’s just on the outer half of my lash line .  I doubt I’ll go falsie-less on a permanent basis.

The whole post is about not contouring, and I think, I can embrace it.  Unlike many women, I don’t mind my big nose at all.  It doesn’t function whatsoever… having chronic sinusitis and all, but it’s there.  Anyway, would I stop contouring all together? Nope!  I think contouring is great!  Remember when every makeup artist would tell you to blend, blend and blend in their tutorials and so forth?  Well, that still holds true, but if you’re into contouring, please do it properly and BLEND  the CONTOUR.

And if you don’t contour at all, well, that’s your decision.  It’s not the end of the world if you’re indeed a minimalistic makeup user.

If you ARE into CONTOURING, please learn from the best makeup artist, Samer Khouzami and celebs like Lilly Ghalichi.

Smitten about my Mitten…

Okay Ladies,

Thanks to BeautyWorx for introducing me to this beauty, I am absolutely in love!

Sadly I am one of those lazy people when it comes to skin care after a long days work or a late night out,

I know how bad it is for your skin and i REALLY do try hard to stick to my skin care routine and most of the time i succeed but I do have days that are just poo. So if you are like me, don’t change your browser page as this little baby is absolutely perfect for you and every other person out there that loves their skin.

Introducing SMITTEN

Smitten01

BE SMITTEN WITH YOUR MITTEN

Do you like to smooth, “squeaky” clean feeling on your face after washing but find foaming cleansers leave your skin feeling dry & cleansing milks remain on your skin?

Maintaining our skins natural PH levels are vital and this is done by simply not striping the natural oils from the surface of our skins and eliminating additional oils that may clog the pores & cause irritation.

With just warm water, SMITTEN gives a mild daily skin exfoliation while preserving its natural & delicate PH balance!

Absolutely nothing but warm to hot water needed for a beautiful skin – Smittens even remove waterproof mascara! That’s why SMITTEN are perfect for all ages, all skin types and all budgets.

By eliminating costly cleansers, wipes and eye makeup removers that can irritate your skin – SMITTEN gently cleanses your skin preparing it for your plumping serums, hydrating moisturizers and active ingredients that can be absorbed more effectively after it’s micro exfoliation.

SMITTEN are made up from fabric woven with fibers that have super-fine density. These fibers are 1/100th the diameter of a human hair and 1/20th the diameter of a single strand of silk. These tiny fibers are able to penetrate the finest, microscopic particles of oil, dirt and even bacteria on any surface.

Unlike the rounded threads of ordinary cotton cloth, which just push dirt along the surface of the skin, SMITTEN numerous wedge-shaped fibers actually capture and pull particles of oil, dirt, and bacteria  into the internal structure of the cloth and away from your skin.

The result is superior cleansing that eliminates the very environment (oil, dirt, bacteria, and grime) in which skin conditions can erupt.

SMITTEN care is also very simple – they wash like a dream. Use any mild soap, hand soap is best. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry naturally.

When traveling with your SMITTEN use the PVC pouch & forget about the cumbersome, leaking cleansers and eye makeup removers!

Smitten

I won’t lie as always I am a bit skeptical with trying out new things and because you don’t need to use your smitten with soap or a cleansing lotion i did as always raise an eyebrow at first, So after getting mine i went straight home (Keep in mind this was after a days work so I did have a full face of make-up, from foundation, to blush, 7 x eye colors, mascara the works) and I put my new investment straight to test and yes by my surprise I was and still am absolutely amazed by this fantastic product, I have been struggling with a bit of a dry skin during the past few months due to winter and i have a pretty set out skin routine from cleansing to scrub (No not every night), mask, toning and moisturizing and sadly even-though i use a high end brand I cannot say I had the same results with my products as I have with my Smitten after just one use, as you will see in the Video below my skin has breakouts (which is due to the oil content in my skin) which i did not have before hand and my skin was Uber dry so much that my foundation would flake even with wearing a primer AND moisturizer.

I have used the Smitten everyday since the weekend and cannot see how i would ever use a cleansing product like i did i however still tone and Moisturize though, but the Smitten exfoliates and cleans for me and my skin’s natural oil balance is back in balance, My skin is feeling silky smooth and Looks great (apart from the few breakouts, but you know what they say… it gets worst before it gets better hehe)

Seriously ladies this is definitely something everyone should invest in, I can with a 100% honesty say this pink beauty works like a bomb.

Please see the attached link for my first ever “vlog”, i was just going to blog it but the photo’s just did not do the smitten justice.

MY WEDDING DAY – THE SERVICE PROVIDERS – part 1, THE DRESS

Good afternoon Dahlings.

So on the 5th of October 2013, I got married to my babsie. Ever since, I’ve been terribly busy, but I’ve always wanted to write up a post about the amazing service providers that made the day unforgettable. Post 1 will be about the dress.

To plan a wedding is easy if you know what you want and you’re not influenced by too many different opinions. Trust what you feel is right. I started with a mental list of exactly what I DIDN’T want.
For example: no poofy dress, no veil covering my face as I walked in, no updo hairstyle, no bridesmaids, no flower girls, no main table, no buffet, no garter throwing, no dj, no blingaling, no sparkly invites and so the list goes on. Now you look at that and you’re probably thinking that I had a terribly boring wedding. Haha. Boy are you mistaken.

Let’s start off with my dress. I knew I wanted a lace dress, mermaid shape. I knew I wanted a mantilla and that I wanted to look elegant. In my mind I had a vision. We then booked an appointment at PRONOVIAS in Sandton. Honestly, the most exquisite and beautiful wedding dress store ever. If you haven’t heard of PRONOVIAS, I suggest you have a look at their site. Dresses from designers like Elie Saab, Manuel Mota and Atelier. We were welcomed by the amazing staff and our consultant sat us down and showed us all the dresses on the computer. I then had to choose my favorites. And from those favorites, I had to choose 6 dresses which she would then get ready for me to try on.
I tried on the 6 dresses, but by the 2nd dress I knew I found the one. It’s name was SILABA, by Manuel Mota.

I also got my headpiece, shoes and mantilla from PRONOVIAS. I’m terribly thankful for their amazing service, because I was losing weight before the wedding and they altered it perfectly with no complaints. (I didn’t lose weight for the wedding, it was a health issue I was facing.)

20140221-131004.jpg
They had to take down so much of the dress. Bear in mind that this dress arrived 7 months after the appointment I made in January. It gets made in Spain and then sent over. If you’re planning on going to PRONOVIAS, make sure you make your appointment 6 months before your wedding. Minimum!

Our dear consultant was Lindiwe. What a lovely lady. So cute, tiny, friendly but the biggest sweetheart ever.

This was on the actual wedding day. 🙂

My mother and best friend.
My mother, aunt and sister also got their dresses from PRONOVIAS. Of course my mom spoiled me with lots of cocktail dresses for my honeymoon. I’m so blessed.

What I also love about their store is that they have sales where you can get selected cocktail dresses for R1000,00. These were dresses that normally costed over R5000,00 and more. So make sure to just pop in for a cocktail dress, they may have a sale on the go.

Ugly Models

Hiya Poutlings

Taboo

I have a confession to make : I am absolutely addicted to National Geographic’s show Taboo.

For those of you that do not know what Taboo is about, its a TV documentary series that has been around since 2002. It is exactly as the name suggests TABOO. It shows an educational outlook into “taboo” rituals and traditions practiced in some societies. Each episode has details a specific topic like marriage or initiation rituals and explores how such topics are viewed throughout the world. Taboo generally focuses on the most misunderstood, despised or disagreed-upon activities, jobs and roles.

Now, I am not sure if this episode has aired on DSTV in South Africa, as I have a habit of only ever catching the end of Taboo when I finally sit down to watch some TV. However, while I was on YouTube, YouTube reccommended this for me to watch. Not sure what YouTube is trying to tell me but here goes nothing…

uglymodels.org

This is Dell. Dell was working as a delivery man for a courier company when one of his clients stopped him and asked if he’d ever considered being a model. He did some test shots and soon become one of the most in-demand models at the entire agency. There is just one catch : the agency is called “Ugly Models”. The owner, Marc French who recruits “unusual-looking” people for appearances in TV, film and advertisements, explains the appeal of his top model quite simply :

“Dell is not a conventional good-looking boy, you know, he’s got buck teeth, sticking out ears, he’s not what people say is normal-looking, because he’s quite ugly, really. But ugly in a great way and I love his features. I mean I think he’s quite striking.”

Some of the most extraordinary models in the business are a part of this agency in some way or another, like Sultan Kosen who is 8ft1, Elaine Davidson who has 2,500 body piercings and Prince Albert, a retired bank manager who had his first piercing at the age of 75 (he now has 241). Check out www.ugly.org to see more of the faces signed to the agency.

“I think the number one trait an ugly model’s got to have is what I repeat over and over again – to be comfortable in their own skin. I think you could say that I am looking for at the auditions – every kind of character you could think of – from fat to fit, large to small, and I never know what I’m actually looking for until they come through the door. Our models have worked for everyone from Calvin Klein to Italian Vogue and there is a massive demand for them. We have open auditions and the queues go on for miles with people wanting to get on the books. It’s amazing; you have little old ladies standing in line next to Hell’s Angels all wanting to give it a go. The reason that we use ‘ugly’ is because, why not? It’s such a powerful word, and everyone thinks of it in a certain way and it’s so great to have an unusual looking person and put them under the category of being ugly.”

At the end of the day, I do believe everybody has some beautiful qualities, and possibly some of the size zero models should be classified as ugly whereas regular people shouldn’t have to endure the life of being classified as ugly.

ugly.org

I don’t know if I could be comfortable in my own skin if I got recruited to be an Ugly Model, but hey, if you’ve got it, flaunt it…

ugly.org

If you never hear from me on PoutPerfection again, its because I’ve hit the big time modelling alongside Dell in Dolce & Gabana adverts and spreads in Vogue.
