Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate

When Clarins say ‘super’ in the product’s name, then you know they are meaning serious business. Allow me to deliberate a little bit.

Clarins created this product to act on all visible signs of ageing around the eyes, from Dark circles to Crow’s feet to Puffiness and Deep wrinkles. I struggle with crow’s feet, discoloration, age spots in my eye area, dark circles and puffiness and thought I am probably the best guinea pig for this products.

20150704_152816

This product is housed in a red, pump action bottle with 15ml of product. The consistency is a white, super light, gel like cream that glides on. They say you apply it twice daily around the eye area from temple to temple, so I envisioned me having a pair of spectacles on my face, and all the areas where the spectacles would cover my skin, would be the total eye area I would cover with this product daily (Take note, you apply it everywhere around the eye area, not just the bottom of the eyes, but the top as well).

This products contains the following ingredients:

  • Organic Harungana Leaf extract helps smooth wrinkles and crow’s feet.
  • Albizia extract brightens dark circles.
  • Guarana extract helps reduce puffiness.
  • Cassie Flower wax instantly smoothes.
  • Cupuaçu Butter nourishes.
  • Golden Pearls illuminate eye contours.
  • D-Panthenol enhances lashes.

Did it work? Yes, yes and yes. I started to see visible results in only 4 days. I am already at day 16, but haven’t had time to take a new picture of my eye area yet. Here is a picture comparing my before picture and my results at day 4.

collage_20150629095219812_20150629095324032

Both are my right eye, I think the angle of the pictures were taken differently. The results are staggering and it is actually hard to document it properly in a picture.

The skin around my eye area is less resilient (for a lack of a better word). To explain that statement I would say that my skin under my eyes was not the delicate flower it was supposed to be, it felt more like a rough patch. Now with using this product my eye area is soft to the touch, velvety, less blotchy and definitely just looks better.

It literally feels to me like this product erases a thin layer of damaged skin each day, over time fading away all the imperfections. I am impressed and will definitely recommend this product to anyone experiencing the same issues than me.

You can find them at Clarins counters nationwide and they retail for R825 for 15ml.

Love,

Leandra

Guest Contribution : Naturals Beauty Essential Collection Milk Cleanser

I love natural products and this was the first time that I used products from Naturals Beauty. I was sent a Milk cleanser  from their essentials collection.Naturals Beauty Essential Collection Milk Cleanser

Naturals Beauty is a Cape Town based family company that makes all natural products that are free from Petrochemicals, Parabens, Synthetic Fragrances and any harmful chemicals. The company was started when they realised the South African  market were seriously lacking natural beauty products that were free from nasties.

They aim to supply products that are affordable, have great quality and are totally natural.

It contains the following ingredients:

Polyphenols (Apple extract) – Has anti-ageing properties.

Omega Oils (Avocado oil) – Moisturise, Smooth, hydrate and refresh.

Sutherlandia and Cucumber – Keeps the skin healthy and radiant.

The milk cleanser has a creamy, thick consistency(it is not at all runny and watery like you would expect a milk cleanser to be, it is more like a lotion)  and smells wonderful. The scent is not too overpowering and you can smell it is naturally fragranced. It felt sheer and creamy when I applied it to my face. I gently massaged it into my skin and rinsed it. My skin was clean, refreshed, soft, smooth and any traces of my makeup was gone. I have been using it for two weeks now and it has not irritated my skin in any way, nor has it clogged my pores or left me with breakouts. This product actually calmed down my seriously over-stimulated skin in a very soft, yet effective way.

I love the fact that it is all natural and that it is so extremely gentle on my skin. I will definitely explore the Naturals beauty range more in future.

You can find these online at www.busweb.org and you pay only R80.00 for a 125ml bottle, which I think is great value considering there went so much time and love into this product. You can also follow Naturals Beauty on Twitter @Naturals_Beauty

Sorbet Skincare Collection

Sometimes being a beauty blogger has additional perks like going to flashy events. Last week, I was fortunate to be invited to attend the launch of Sorbet’s latest offering. The Skincare Collection. The event was the #SorbetSkinShow which showcased the new range in a different light on a runway.

In a nutshell, this collection of skincare is split into 3 ranges for specific skin conditions, concerns and care. The ranges are:

Hydro SkinSorbet Hydro Skin

Developed specifically for tired and dehydrated skin that needs a boost. The 4 products in this range are designed to restore a bright and healthier looking complexion by incorporating moisture back into the skincare regimen.

Salon Skin Sorbet Salon Skin

Developed specifically for problematic skin concerns and curb irritated skin. Mixing a bit of science and nature together has resulted in the 8 products in this range which are designed to stop problem skin in its tracks.

Age EffectSorbet Age Effect

Developed specifically for mature skin that the signs of ageing skin are a concern. The 6 products in this range are an intense anti-ageing solution for a more plump youthful appearance with reduced appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Over the course of the next few weeks I will be incorporating a few products into my skincare routine. I will share my experience with these products with you.

All of these items will be available at Clicks and Sorbet stores nationwide. I believe a great present for anyone who is looking for an updated skin routine over the next few weeks of festivities!

Know Your Oils : Anti-Ageing

I don’t know about you lot, but I always shudder at the thought of having to use an entire anti-ageing range, luckily I do not yet, but I’m sure one day that will not be case… I dabble around with a few different products here and there but still I have teenage skin, so lets hope it doesn’t turn into old lady skin over night… and in order to make sure that day is later rather than sooner, use some preventative measures in the form of oil to look after your skin! Remember, prevention is always better than cure!

Here are my top picks…

ARGAN OILArgan Oil

Also known as Moroccan oil, it is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids.

ACAI OIL

Acai Oil

Rich in antioxidants, which help to protect the skin from harmful free radicals and the oxidation of cells.

FLAXSEED OIL

Flax Seed Oil

Also known as linseed oil, this softens the skin while providing essential fatty acids.

SEA-BUCKTHORN OIL

Sea Buckthorn Oil

Rich in skin-loving omega3,6,7 and 9 oils.

Dermaceutic Milk Peel

I must confess, I am very fond of going to a salon or spa to relax and unwind, it is my ultimate guilty pleasure. I love the salons that echo peace, tranquillity and a safe haven to unwind and distress and to top it all off they make you feel wonderful when you leave. To me that is the epitome of luxury and being spoilt – even a wax or laser hair treatment makes you feel better (once it’s finished) and you feel refreshed and ready to take on the world.Guilty Pleasure

Ageless FacesThe salon I visited for my peel was Ageless Faces, and they are a quaint but luxurious skin clinic located in Claremont, Cape Town who specialise in innovative anti-ageing treatments in order to prolong the need to go for cosmetic surgery apart from chemical peels they offer a wide range of treatments including but not limited to Aesther Isolaz laser; PRP “Vampire” Facials; Botox & Fillers; Dermaroller Collagen Induction Therapy; Mesotherapy; Cryo-lift; Dermapen and general beauty treatments including eyelash extensions; Caribbean Spray Tans and pride themselves in only using the top products available in order to achieve the maximum results. Dermaceutic

If you are unsure about what a chemical peel actually is, have a read of my post over here.

Until recently, I have read and heard a lot about peels but it was still very much an area that I was not familiar with and was a bit horrified after seeing shocking results of peels that have gone wrong in the past but being given the opportunity to go and experience a Dermaceutic peel who are the most well known and renown brands for facial peels and being the preferred market leader for over 30,000 aesthetic dermatology specialists worldwide, there was no doubt in my mind that I had to finally embrace a peel and see exactly what all the fuss is about when it comes to peels and what a better way to start off than with the industries best?  I was so excited/nervous before having my peel that I did not think to take before and after photographs to share but no one wants to see me without makeup anyway 😉DERMACEUTIC Milk Peel Treatment

Dermaceutic offered me to go and try their Milk Peel Rejuvenation Treatment and don’t worry because I didn’t know what that was either but I eagerly said YES and jumped at the opportunity. In the broad scale of what peels are available saying on a scale of one to three with number three being a super strong concentrated resulting in maximum downtime following; two being a peel of medium strength which will result in a couple of days downtime; and finally number one being a peel that is of the most gentle nature. The Milk Peel on the before mentioned scale to me, in my opinion would be a one-and-half as it is very gentle on the skin and does not cause the skin to react in such ways that only little or in most cases no downtime is necessary following the treatment however it is very active and the results are very effective and even though there is no specific downtime following the peel it is recommended to be extra vigilant about moisturising your skin and ensuring that you adequately protect it from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

The peel in total probably took a maximum of 15 minutes. It started off with cleansing of the face to ensure that the peel is being applied to the top layer of skin so that it can penetrate the skin faster, once my skin was sparkling clean around my lips and the base of my nose my aesthetician applied some Vaseline to protect the areas where I would be most likely to react very quickly to the peel. The peel itself is then applied on a small brush to the forehead, nose, chin and then finally my cheek area – carefully avoiding the delicate eye area. Upon the peel touching my skin I felt a slight crawling sensation – nothing unbearable – but I could tell there was something very active on my skin. My wonderful aesthetician fanned my face but before I knew it (I think it was 2 minutes), it was time to neutralise the peel which was an incredibly soothing and pleasant feeling.

My skin felt slightly sensitive following my treatment but I was offered to use some Oxygenetix Treatment Foundation to hide the slight redness and was advised that this would also help speed up the recovery process of my skin. Although it was a slight shade too dark for me, mixed in with plenty of moisturiser – no one noticed! On the days following my peel my skin was good –  some of the trials of the Milk Peel experienced slight flaking of the skin but there was no flakiness for me! Only bright, refreshed looking skin which I religiously moisturised (as instructed) on the days following the peel.

The Milk Peel is designed to restore a healthy shine, increase collagen production and leave the skin natural even looking complexions. I don’t believe before I had the peel that my skin was dull but my pores certainly felt quite clogged and in need of a good extraction (the worst part about facials – right?) but after having the peel my skin feels smoother and I believe it is naturally brighter and more radiant and my pores are more clear albeit still large! On days 5 and 6 following the peel I had a few spots come up (quite rare even though I do have an oily skin) but they were really nothing serious and went as quickly as they arrived. I’m still happy to just wear a bit of BB cream over my moisturiser instead of a full face of foundation all-day everyday. Foundation is great for special occasions and photographs but I’m really going through a less face-cake period in my life and enjoying having a natural and glowing skin that’s not being faked by wonderful NARS Sheer Glow Foundation.

A course of Milk Peels are recommend in similar intervals than what one would expect for facials as having a course of regular Milk Peels would eliminate the need for monthly facials and be replaced by monthly peels. If you are looking to feel pampered then treatment masks can be applied once your face has been neutralised but this is a nice-to-have and not part of the peeling process. I am planning on going for another one in about 6 weeks from my first (depending on my budget) and I am really looking forward to see if a series of these Milk Peels will make an even better improvement to my skin health.

Dermaceutic and Conquest, thank you for helping me love my skin again I am quite sure you are to become one of my skin rituals in the future.

Check out Dermaceutic’s website, Facebook and follow them on Twitter @DermaceuticSA to find out more about the other intriguing genius and result-driven treatments they offer.

If you’re in Cape Town or planning on visiting for a pamper-holiday be sure to visit Ageless Faces website and and Facebook and see what they can do for your skin.
