Guest Contribution : Foods for Fit and Fab Health

Have you for long craved a good health? Are you always at the doctor’s because your body is a frequent target of diseases? Well, there is a big possibility you have not been that careful on the choices of foods you make as part of your daily diet. The poor health that has kept you agonizing for a long time could become a long-gone memory if you put the following foods in your shopping list every time you hit the supermarket.

APPLES APPLES

Apples can be quite expensive compared to other fruits but they are among the most important pieces you missed in your daily meal. Apples fight signs of ageing by providing anti-oxidants to your body. The antioxidants found in apples are known as polyphenols and are thought to increase lifespan.

FISH FISH

One of the biggest sources of protein in the world is fish. Salt-water fish, to be specific, are the most consumed and are arguably the healthiest. Overfishing has really had an effect on the availability of fish lately, but you can still afford to obtain one once or twice a week. The best thing about fish is that, unlike cattle, they do not eat foods raised with chemicals and fertilizers.

MUSHROOMS MUSHROOMS

Mushrooms are rich in iron and proteins. They are also important in raising the immune system of your body and defend it from infections. Mushrooms have also been found to be able to fight some diseases such as breast cancer and are also becoming very important in the manufacture of medicines. Be aware of poisonous mushrooms though. Personally, I only really suffer from dull, dry skin during the winter months, tales of winter passed had me researching what would be the best solution for dry skin (especially after being in Gauteng for a week, my skin was very sad) I’ve done some research on what oils will help me best, here are my top picks for moisturizing your skin!

OPI Feet – Double Coverage Review

Disclaimer : This is not a sponsored review, nor am I affiliated with the following brand/company in anyway.

OPI Feet Double Coverage is a moisturiser formulated specially for feet. This deeply hydrating foot lotion which drenches dry skin with a moisture thanks to a luscious formula enriched with nourishing Shea Butter, Antioxidants and smoothing silicones. This product protects feet from irritation with micronized cotton powder and combats unpleasant odours.

OPI DOUBLE COVERAGE

I don’t know about you, but when I’ve spent long hours on my feet applying makeup to clients faces, especially during the summer when I live in my flip flops my heels take an absolute beating. Dry cracked heels and I over makeup-crazy season are no strangers, and I was at my wits end with my feet being sore.

I bought this cream over December, and it is almost finished now (6 months later) and I was promised it would sort out my heels in no time as long as I applied to my feet every day. I asked the sales lady at Yemaya Spa if she was sure, as I am not a person for creams, especially on my feet and she told me – JUST DO IT – and you will see a difference! I apply the cream once I’ve showered or bathed and let it absorb in my skin for a few minutes before walking around/putting on shoes or socks.

Anyway, true to her word, I did see a difference, almost immediately.

Now, applying foot cream is not something that I would want to do everyday, maybe at most once every second day, but you instantly feel the benefits of this cream and it is absorbed into your skin very quickly. During the cold winter months I’ve started applying this every second to third day as living in thick fluffy socks my feet have remained smooth and hydrated thanks to Double Coverage.

It leaves your feet feeling soft, smooth and refreshed.

Although this is a little pricey, it lasts forever and I will not be able to go back to any drug store brands or cheap supermarket peppermint foot creams as they simply won’t compare.

I paid R225 for this, and I would gladly do so again.
