Catrice Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette – 010 Frankie Rose to Hollywood

There is something magical about eyeshadow palettes, you get so many colours with different effects and it feels like one can never have enough of the lovely colours that makes our eyes pop.

Housed in a plastic container, this pan contains 6 shades that goes from light to dark. Along with the palette you receive a dual ended applicator, one side being a sponge applicator and the other side being a small brush. To be honest, I never use the applicators provided and use my own eyeshadow brushes.

The colours in this palette is simply beautiful and you can create so many different looks with it. It is hard to capture a picture of the colours that does it justice, so I ended up not including the swatch pictures, because it does not look they way it looks on your eyes.

Varying from light to dark, the colours range from pearly, to matte to shimmer. I have been loving all of these colours and use it basically every day, the only colour I find hard to ‘relate to’ is the dark colour on the far right. I have been struggling to blend the maroon shimmer colour perfectly.

This palette is highly pigmented, smooth on application and very easy to blend, the only problem I am finding with it is that I experience a lot of fallout of product. In the pan itself, but also under my eyes while applying it. So my only tip would be to keep your concealer and setting powder at hand when you apply this product as you might have to follow up with a touch up after applying the eyeshadow. Will it keep me from using it? In no way, no. With such lovely colours it is not a deal breaker with me.

The longevity of this product is quite good, but I have found that if I use it combined with the Catrice Prime and fine eyeshadow base, that the colours seems to stay on longer and that the base just makes the colours pop a little more.

For a budget item, this is definitely a good buy. You can find it at Dischem stores nationwide and it retails for R90.

Love,

Leandra

Absolute Nude, Absolute Love

Sometime last year I received this wonderful eye palette from Catrice. It’s called Absolute Nude.

Absolute NUDE Catrice Absolute Nude

As you can see, the eye shadows are small and compact and pretty much cover all shades of nude through to a dark-ish brown with a mixture of some matte and some shimmer.

I am normally not sold on drug store brands of eye shadows as I believe we should firmly invest in a product if we want it to have durability and staying power. With the use of a quality eye primer this shadow does last. Which is a winner!

Essentially, this is a go-to palette for me when stuck on time of doing your face or stuck on space for over night business trips. I generally only use 2 eye shadows brushes to achieve my nude-ish looks but the shadows are very buildable and obviously you can make your look more dramatic by building and blending a dark outer corner to a beautiful inner corner in a light nude colour which would require 3 brushes. Day time looks, I never touch the shimmer to avoid that greasy look that can happen but for night time the shimmer is king.

For the best results I always use an eye primer for the colour to pop.

Here is a look I created using this palette while on my last business trip. A good solid primer (Urban Decay Eye Potion), some Absolute Nude eye shadow and topped off with some black winged liner is always a winner for me.

Thanks Catrice, I ❤ you guys!

P.S…. Sorry for the delay in getting this ‘lil write-up out.

Makeup Trend : Think Pink

Hi Poutlings!

Do you follow any trends that appear on the catwalk? Have you noticed any trends in the models on the Louis Vutton, Nina Ricci, Ellie Saab and Chanel runways of late?

They’ve ditched the bronzer and gone back to the classic pink blusher or have really gone back to basics with dewy skin with a natural flush of blush.

DEWY SKIN TIPS

This begins with your moisturizer, ensure you have a good skin care routine which will result in you putting moisturizer on your skin daily, if not twice daily.

It will result in youth boosting, and help achieve plump glowing skin for your foundation to sit on to give the skin a real smooth, radiant glow.

I recommend Catrice Photo Finish 18 Hour Foundation, a little bit goes a long way and it’s not badly priced either – available at Dischem.

DOLLY FACED

Nina Ricci catwalk stood out that there was a common inspiration for all the models… DOLLS. Max Factor makeup artista Pat McGrath created radiant skin with pink sculpted cheeks.

At the Stella McCartney show, Pat McGrath, gave the “athletic” theme of the show a twist by making the models to appear modern, sporty with a super healthy appearance by using a sweep of pink.

I recommend Benefit Watt’s Up Soft Focus Highlighter for Face available at Woolworths to recreate the looks – it is a little bit pricer than your standard Clicks or Dischem Revolon and Maybelline brands, but for a little bit of extra money it is sure to last the whole day, instead of constantly having to touch up your face.

Blush up for some makeup that isn’t shy Pouters, and send us some pictures to poutperfection [at] gmail [dot] com
