Classic Skincare the Optiphi Way

Optiphi Restore TherapyMy experiences with Optiphi only get more and more enjoyable. From a brand I just knew a name and nothing about, the pleasure of having being introduced to the ladies behind the Cape Town marketing side late last year has made me be completely intrigued by their wonderful and sophisticated approach to skincare.

My first ever encounter was with their Refine-Foliant, which I received in a goodie bag and was so excited to use it in this particular goodie bag I also received the Restore Therapy which I had yet to use until very recently.  I am actually craving to get my paws on another bottle of the Refine-Foliant as it is really amazing stuff. My second encounter with the brand didn’t fail to disappoint and that was with their body care range Body Curve Body Lotion which has been my skin saviour this winter.

For the past few weeks I have been using their wonderful night cream from their Classic Skincare range, called Restore Therapy. It is a dermal restoration moisturiser and it has taken me so long to use it because I have never really battled with dry skin until starting my course of skincare peels.  With the cold weather, and peeling my skin has not been feeling itself and I feel like when I was looking in the mirror my face was screaming dehydration at me. The Classic Skincare range by Optiphi is said to ensure healthy skin by reinstating moisture and redefining skin architecture. The Refine-Foliant is actually also part of the Classic Skincare range too. It is not normal for me to be craving moisture products for my face but because of the dehydration what an amazing product to use to restore the moisture. I started using the Restore Therapy because I do have complete faith in Optiphi living up to their promises, and I have not been disappointed. I also could not leave this gorgeous bottle unattended any longer and had to start smothering my face with this divine moisturiser. The product has breathed a new life of moisture back into my skin and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth.

Restore Therapy moisturiser activates a cascade of effects that restore skin density, supports your skincare structure, promotes elasticity, activates collagen and replenishes lost moisture.

The bottle is huge and a little goes a long way, it is a night cream as they do not have any SPF in the product but in the Classic Skincare range they have a moisturiser called Complete Therapy which is said to work hand in hand with this night cream. The product retails between R650 – R900 and is available at selected salons nationwide. For more information on stockists please contact Optiphi.

Don’t forget to check out Optiphi’s website, Twitter @Optiphi and Facebook.

Embrace the Tennis Bracelet

Hi Poutlings!

serena williams 150709

You don’t have to be Serena Williams in order to rock a tennis bracelet. However, there is something you can learn from her. Even when dressed in her sport wear she makes sure to add a piece of glamour to ensemble with her signature tennis bracelet. This serves well to remind us that although she is sporty and athletic, she is still a lady with elegant taste. With the popularity of diamond tennis bracelets increasing, so have the choices.

classic tennis bracelet

Whenever you hear the word “classic” you immediately think simple and sophisticated, and that is an accurate depiction of a classic four prong tennis bracelet. With a slender row of beautiful diamonds sitting along your wrist, this bracelet is perfect for anyone who likes a mixture of dazzling and delicate. Along with its undeniable beauty, this piece of jewellery is also lightweight and flexible making it the right choice for “soccer mom” or CEO.

designer tennis bracelet

A designer piece is for the one who wants to make a bold statement. The one who thinks that simple is just a little too simple. Designer tennis bracelets have an added charm with their elaborate craftsmanship, taking tennis bracelets to a new level with designs like wavy, twirl, or S-shaped links, to name a few. Like Serena has shown, a tennis bracelet can be worn on and off the court; and with a wide variety of styles to choose from you can make it your own just as she did.

And – DID YOU KNOW: Tennis bracelets were once called eternity bracelets? Quite a beautiful sentiment isn’t it? Why not pair up your eternity bracelet with a diamond eternity ring? This ring is excellent for celebrating a wedding, anniversary, or just your love. With an option of a single or double row diamonds, you can decide just how extravagant you want it. So go ahead, make someone’s day and set their heart on fire!

NYFW : Norisol Ferrari Runway Show

Hiya Poutlings!

As I mentioned in my post about the Sheri Hill runway show, I am trying to keep updated with all the news from New York Fashion Week, but there is just an overload of amazing designers, models, and trends that I am struggling to keep ahead of it all. I will try and keep you updated with the most interesting stories, in my opinion of course 😉

For the past five days there has been nothing but familiar teenage faces pouting their way down the runway, show after show. So it’s refreshing to see a designer really kick the trend in the teeth and do something completely different. Possibly cast women that may just *gasp* around the same age as their respective target market. NORISOL FERRARI did just that at her show on Monday morning. Norisol Ferrari sent icons like Carol Alt, Alva Chinn and Carmen Dell’Orefice, who is 81 years young, down the catwalk amidst some of the fresher faces.

Alva Chinn – 57 Years Old

Carmen Dell Orefice – 81 Years Old

Carol Alt – 51 years old

The iconic faces were a huge hit amongst the crowd, especially since they didn’t just do the old walk-turn-repeat favoured by most of the designers these days. Alva Chinn for the most part, shashayed leisurely down the runway, stopping to strike a seductive pose or two along the way. Carmen Dell’Orefice also interrupted her walk to elegantly mug for the cameras, creating lots of applause amongst the audience.

It was a lot of enthusiam coming from the audience, which I would imagine are mostly Upper-East-Types (simply because I have watched Gossip Girl, hahaha) but then, these were definitely clothes for the confident, mature and above all sophisticated women. There was a definite femme fatale vibe to this collection, which included seaside separates paired with oversized hats, trim, neutral pieces and sweeping evening gowns, while I am not sure I have the attitude to pull off the saucer-sized chapeaux, I have no doubt Carmen Dell’Orefice and crew would put today’s street styles to shame under of those hats.

I certainly take my hat off to these ladies to remind the younger generation that this is certainly elegance in its finest form.

Rooney Mara poses for Agents Provocateurs: A Look at Vogue’s New Book The Editor’s Eye

Hello darling poutlings

If you are as crazy about the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo actress as I am, you would be thrilled to know that the beautiful lady has gone and posed for Agents Provocateurs: A Look at Vogue’s New Book The Editor’s Eye.

An article dedicated to it in Vogue:

“What makes a great fashion image? A new book, Vogue: The Editor’s Eye, celebrates the work of Vogue’s boundary-pushing fashion editors.

Throughout its 120-year history, Vogue has been creating arresting images intended to make the reader’s eye stop. These are images that evoke desire—for something as real as a dress or a lipstick, or as intangible as a whole new body language, attitude, or paradigm. Some are images of stately, introspective calm; others make the heart leap with an adrenaline charge of energy, reflecting a century of change in fashion, society, and culture.

But who are the thoughtful provocateurs who have collaborated with Vogue’s image-makers to capture the moments you see frozen on these pages? The Editor’s Eye is a tribute to eight of these remarkable women (there have also been a handful of remarkable men) who have guided, educated, and enabled photographers and illustrators to create the visuals that have propelled fashion forward. They reveal not only the evolving history of women’s self-presentation but also the extraordinary arc of their journey from the end of the nineteenth century to the beginning of the twenty-first—the roiling ocean of emancipation, liberation, and empowerment, changes reflected in the lives of the women whose work is gathered here.”

Among these “remarkable people” are Rooney, Twiggie,  Baby Jane Holzer, Edie Sedgwick, Marisa Berenson, Barbra Streysand and Cher.

Have a lovely weekend Poutlings

The Naughty Middleton & Her Crown Jewels

Hiya Poutlings!

Pippa Middleton and her sister, Dutchess Kate

The Middleton family is just oozing with style. Dutchess Katherine is the epitome of classy chic, sister Pippa always look stylish and trend appropriate and now their distant cousin, has emerged on the scene with her own unique and risque aesthtic. My dear Pouters, meet KATRINA DARLING.

The “fun gene” in the Middleton family didn’t all just go to Pippa! Some of it went to Katrina Darling who is unique and risque and who also happens to be a distant cousin – but related to Kate nonetheless. All you have to do is take one look at their hair to know they’re related. THE HAIR ON THEIR HEAD! God. You’re so gross.

Dirty dancing … Katrina Darling performs her raunchy show…

Katrina and Kate are technically second cousins once removed (Kate’s grandfather is the brother of Katrina’s grandmother), but still you can see some resemblance from their shiny luxouris locks to their wide set eyes and big smile. Kate and Katrina have many an enviable feature there is no wonder why Katrina is gaining some fame.

While you’re here, take a look at some of Katrina’s pin up modeling….

It was revealed a few months before the Royal Wedding that the soon-to-be Dutchess was related to an ex-banker and soon-to-be full time burleque dancer there was quite an outrage. Fancy British people everywhere dropped their tea cups and their mouths to the floor. Then Hugh Heffner knew exactly what to do – let the dust settle, wait about a year and then give Katrina a chance to publically shake what her mama gave her in an eight page spread in Playboy September 2012. That is my version of events anyway, and I’m sticking to it.

When things get a bit boring around the palace, which I’d imagine as quite often, Kate Middleton can skip over to her cousin’s house to learn some burlesque moves to impress William. (Or Harry…. yes, I still believe Kate will have a ginger heir.)

Apparently, there isn’t any frontal nudity in the photoshoot, except for one topless shot, so it seems like Katrina’s keeping it tasteful. Who knows if the Palace requested she do so or not, but there is one thing we can be certain of, these Middleton girls have style and PANACHE!

Kate has nailed conservative-chic and Katrina’s got bawdy elegance down to a T.

How wonderfully stylish their Christmases must be!
