I am always on the prowl for a liquid eyeliner that does a great job, but sometimes they end up being disappointing and do not live up to their claims. Especially when it is a budget friendly item, you do not always get what you pay for. So when I received this product to try, I was a bit sceptical to say the least.
At first use I realised that I was judging a book by it’s price.
Application is a breeze with this product. Because it has a thin tipped brush, it enables you to create a very thin and precise line with ease. It dries within seconds which also makes this product virtually smudge proof. That is a huge plus for me as I hate it when my eyeliner messes up my makeup
Colour payoff on this eyeliner is also very good. With it being highly pigmented the colour literally goes pop. What probably impressed me the most is the lasting power. It lasts me the whole day without smudging halfway through the day and it does not affect removal at all. Removal is quick and easy.
Overall I am happy with this product and if you are looking for a budget friendly liquid eyeliner that lasts the whole day, then this is the one for you.
They come in 6 colours: Black Sparkle, Black, Blue, Turquoise, Dark Brown and Brown and you can find them at Clicks stores nationwide and it will only set you back R44.95.
For months I have been hearing about this beauty brand and that it was only available in certain Clicks stores. So when curious me got to try out a Red and a Glittery polishes I was rather happy.
I generally hate red on nails but decided I would use it paired with a glittery red on an accent finger. I totally love the brush , smooth strokes and no excessive polish dripping all over. I used a base coat and 2 coats of the polish. Extremely impressed as its lasted me 5 days before it started chipping and that to me was the sign to remove it. During the festive season I tried on the glittery on I used it as an overcoat of a beige/brown colour. I had to use several coats to get the colours of the glitter evenly over my nail. Once on it was rather pretty and I did get a few compliments. And the removing the glitter polish was a nightmare it took me ages, I scrapped and had to soak my nails. I wasn’t impressed with that and since then I have not used glitter polishes again.
I am keen to try out the other colours and products in the Wet n Wild range, I just wish more stores with stock them.

If you love glitter on your nails, then you are going to love this product. I received the ‘At wild call’ colour to play with and had a lot of fun trying it out. If you don’t know Wet ‘n Wild products then you should probably know that it is a very affordable American drugstore brand. And if you think that because it is affordable that it might lack in quality then you are seriously mistaken. I received a few of their goodies and are seriously falling in love with the brand. What makes this nail glitter seriously cool is the fact that the glitters are not round in shape, but they are actually hexagonal in shape, which makes for a very cool and different effect. It is a thick consistency that has two shades of glitter, one shade being bigger hex’s and the second shade a smaller hex, in a clear polish. In the one I tested the big glitters were purple/lavender and the small glitters were pink. I first used a very nude colour as a base and when it dried I added one coat of the glitter on top. Do not be alarmed about the thick consistency because it actually caught enough glitters for one nail. If you want to cover more of your nail with glitters then I would suggest you using more than one coat. Now the staying power of this product is amazing. I wore this nail polish for 5 days and still I had no chips! And because I wore the glitter coat on top, it actually protected my bottom nude coat. The picture with it on my nails was not taken on day one, but actually on day 4, just to illustrate how long it stays on. We actually had done a bit of home renovations in the week I wore it and not even that could strip my nails of it’s glitter. For me that is pretty impressive! Sometimes when we try and remove glitter from our nails, it becomes quite a time consuming exercise. Not in this case. Removal was a snap. I cannot wait to get my hands on more of these colours. You can buy Wet ‘n Wild products at selected Clicks stores and the Mega Rocks Range retails at about R59.95 each.

Using this nail polish was my first ever experience with a very well known and sought after drugstore brand, Wet n Wild which is available at selected Clicks stores.
The application of the polish was fairly easy, as the formulation of the polish is smooth and applies to the nail with ease however I did battle a little bit getting used to the oversized brush but once you get the hang of it works really well. Being that the shade I am wearing is not a dark or a light shade the pigment was lovely with one coat but for a fuller coverage I applied two coats and finished it off with a top coat. I am really loving the colour ON A TRIP and my nails are looking good!
All the shades In the Wet n Wild megalast range retail for R54.95 each.

The darlings from TRESemme sent me their Instant Refresh to try out. Instant Refresh is a DRY SHAMPOO, which essentially is a waterless shampoo which reduces the greasy appearance of the hair by applying a powder form spray to the root of the hair. Dry shampoo will never substitute for real shampoo which involves the use of the water to completely cleanse and remove grease but it is meant to be an in-between washing solution. While it reduces the appearance of greasy roots, the Instant Refresh gives also gives the hair added volume from the root which results that it is possible to style the hair in some ways which would not be possible with freshly washed soft clean hair.
I have been trying to use Instant Refresh on the days when I don’t wash my hair (I normally wash my hair everyday and I feel like my hair is dirty if I don’t), so I have been using sporadically, maybe once a week. Directions for use are simple, shake the can vigourosly before spraying, part your hair into sections and lightly spray the roots in short bursts about 20-30cm away and then massage the product into your scalp with your finger tips and comb through your hair. Et voila, you have Instantly Refreshed hair (see what I did there?).
When I use Instant Refresh, my hair does feel look and refreshed but I know that my hair is not clean. Its obviously a thing I need to get over. I like to use Instant Refresh between washes if I am planning on wearing my hair up, either clipped, in a bun, in a plait or braided. I still can’t bring myself to wear unwashed (without water) hair loose but who knows, one day I might try soon.
Although I have my issues with dry shampoo, I have to say that my mother is completely besotted with the stuff. She gave me a mini can of Instant Refresh before I went overseas for my Italy trip which I used here and there and I am slowly trying to warm myself to using it but I really need to get over the fact that simply because my hair has not been physically washed that it does not appear clean.
Matthew Monsoor is TRESemme’s celelbrity stylist and his suggestion for the Instant Refresh is to use to give last nights curls brand new life.
“Last night’s curls can be revived into boho-chic waves with a twist, by using the right products to re-awaken the volume. Adding braids gives a pretty finish. “
200ml aerosol of Instant Refresh goes for R76.99 and is available at Clicks and Dischem nationwide.
