Mio – My Shrink to Fit Experience

In a nutshell, Shrink to Fit is a cellulite smoother in a cream form which meant to be used once daily. Specifically formulated to work in the most complained trouble areas for cellulite, the thighs and arms. If used correctly it is meant to visibly reduce the signs of cellulite resulting in smooth thighs and arms… If it sounds like something you need in your life then you may have found your product because I can vouch that it does work. With that being said though, and with the product being hailed as a miracle cream to make cellulite disappear- it does not mean that it works instantly. Rather, slow and steady wins the race. Shrink to Fit - Pout Perfection

Continuous use is an must if you wish to see and feel any visible difference; I learnt that the hard way. I started using the cream and then decided when rushing after getting out the shower – oh, I will do that later. Well as you know with most beauty routines – LATER NEVER HAPPENS. I have made a continuous effort to get my 5 minutes Shrink To Fit routine in the morning after my shower and I am slowly seeing some results.

I keep repeating these mantas in my mind:

1. slow and steady wins the Shrink to Fit race;

2. and my personal favourite – cellulite wasn’t built in a day!

Having experienced plenty of other creams and lotions in the past that claim that they will make your cellulite woes disappear, and simply do not follow through, I was quite sceptical before and during the beginning of my Shrink to Fit journey. I read the back of the box, before starting to use I which made me laugh. Mio have their own skin-wisdom when it comes to their products, it said using this miracle cream is not a one night stand. Its a true commitment to using the product each and every day, come rain or shine.

To be honest, it is not the most pleasant body product I have ever used. When busy rubbing it into my skin, I don’t think “oh, this feels so nice” or “I feel so relaxed” because I don’t. Its hard work (and I am inherently lazy by nature). The formula of the cream is quite thick, and you are only supposed to use one pump per area (I use one pump between 2 arms and 1 pump per thigh) and it means that you REALLY have to work it into those trouble spots. Vigorous massage of this thick cream makes those lazy cellulite cells wake up.

When you finish using the cream their is a cool sensation (a bit overwhelming to begin with after the first few applications – but you do get used to it) on the area that you worked that stubborn cream into. The cool sensation can last up to a few hours after application. I like to feel a product working, especially when I have put so much effort into getting the product onto me. This cooling sensation gives me some validation (however placebo that effect of validation might be)  that I have done my application for the day and am slowly working towards fitter, healthier skin in the long run.

Visible results? Well, for someone who is quite aware of their own mass of cellulite, I can say that there has been a slight improvement. I am still not where I want to be with my cellulite (God knows if I ever will be) but I can see that religiously using Fit To Shrink is working for me! Once you are satisfied with your results from using Shrink to Fit it is advised to use the product 3 times a week to maintain your smooth areas.

Thanks Mio for making me work for it, I will continue to do so in my quest for Fit Skin For Life.

SKNLogic Renew Footbalm

Renew FootbalmAbout six months ago my paws got hold of a foot balm from SKNLogic and following this, I received another footbalm from SKNLogic in a goodiebag from #BWB. I had not yet used the first footbalm given to me in December last year at an end of year function because I was busy using another. Anyway, roll on winter time 2014 which is peak season for me to do some serious foot/heel TLC before embarking on a whirlwind overseas adventure and I quickly grabbed my stash of SKNLogic foot balms. I have been using it religiously once a day after showering/bathing and if I’ve had a long day in heels a good slap of this wonderful stuff on my feet before bed is just what is needed! In a short and sweet summary – my feet feel fabulous!

I have just started on my second footbalm after cutting the tube open of my first one because I didn’t want to waste any of the amazing moisturising concuction which soothes sore feet (especially after long days of plodding along in heels).

The SKNLogic Renew footbalm contains amazing ingredients like cucumber extract which hydrates while removing dead skin cells, Vitamin E which protects the skin assists with maintaining the skins oil balance, Orange Oil which works as anti-inflammatory and improves the skins elasticity, Shea Butter providing intense hydration, accelerates healing and soothes the skin, Fig Extract which promotes new cell growth and hydrates regulating trans-epidermal loss and not forgetting the sunflower oil, wheat germ oil and steric acid.

The SKNLogic brand is growing on me, even more so when I learnt that the products are manufactured locally in South Africa with packaging and printing being done here too. If they are not an incentive to support local, then I don’t know what is. To find out more and view their other products visit their website, Facebook and Twitter @SKNLOGIC.

The Renew Footbalm retails for R85 (75ml) and is available at salons and spas nationwide.

Optiphi’s Answer to Dehydrated Winter Skin

Curve Body LotionI received this beautiful crisp white and mint bottle of body lotion from Optiphi and my initial reaction was – oh goodness – I am not a body lotion fan BUT I am an Optiphi fan. So with all that faith I have stored in this wonderful brand I thought let’s give them a try…

Unlike most body lotions which have made me detest them because you apply them on your skin which absorbs the moisture and then the sensation disappears and you’re left feeling a bit greasy or you feel like you have a layer of cream on your skin that just makes you feel sticky. Curve Body Lotion is designed to rather gradually moisturise the skin for the whole day. Just like instead of waking up in the morning and drinking 2 litres of water, we drink a glass or two every few hours, this is the same solution for your skin – Curve allows your skin to sip moisture rather than down it in one go.

Dry, dull and sensitive winter skin from the cold weather conditions are banished and it acts a moisture retainer and reservoir while maintaining a healthy skin barrier against environmental stresses. The lotion is fast absorbing meaning you get out of the shower/bath get dry and apply some lotion by the time you have done one arm and/or leg the other has absorbed the moisture and is already starting to assist your skin in slowly absorbing the moisture rather than over doing it and leaving an excess residue which eventually just wipes off on whatever you wear or touch. It also leaves you smelling clean and expensive. Yes, you read that right, expensive has a smell. Its a smell of luxury that you get from products which have good ingredients.

This product retails for R360 for 250ml from selected Optiphi stockists which is a costly expense compared to most body lotions available, but I believe a complete necessity for skin that suffers from the winter blues.

Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Cream

Crabtree & Evelyn are a brand which silently but proudly portray luxurious British heritage. The brand stemmed from a family run business that made home-made soaps with an international themes which has since grown into a huge international company which is known for quality toiletries and they have stemmed into fragrances and even food. Crabtree & Evelyn are the ultimate hipster company as they made “natural” cool before “natural” was the in thing to do. Working in harmony with nature their products are inspired from a time when the garden played an important role in daily life and they use plant, fruit and flower essences for natural fragances and soothing solutions for the skin.

Crabtree Evelyn Ultra Moisturising Hand Therapy

From two of the recent #BWB or Bloggers Who Bless Cape Town meets – we have been totally spoilt with their wonderful handcreams. The one I’ve been using on my paws is the Iris Hand Therapy. Firstly, it is small enough to carry around in your handbag, they certainly pack a punch in these harsh winter months. They touch your skin and are absorbed leaving you with wonderfully smooth and soft hands that have no left over residue or greasiness. A real winter-must have. On top of this they leave your hands smelling absolutely gorgeous and long after use they leave a very faint scent of beautiful iris. These hand creams are award-winning and its not hard to see why. They certainly win my vote for best winter handcream for 2014 that I’ve used so far 😉 Have a look at the entire handcream range over here at their website.

For 50g this product retails at R180 but you use such a little product it can last you for ages so, its well worth the investment!

Crabtree & Evelyn are not only an easy solution for a gift for the special ladies in your life as their products will happily work in harmony with everyone, they are a healthy and smart choice for daily use.

What is your favourite Crabtree & Evelyn product?

Don’t forget to visit Crabtree & Evelyn’s website, like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter @Crabtree_SA

Product Review ~ BEAUTE PACIFIQUE – Metamorphique Crème

Hello my pretty poutlings!

Hope you are doing well. I’ve been a tad busy, but I just had to pop in to tell you about a product which I recently acquired, and oh-my-goshness! It’s the shiznezz! lol…

BEAUTE PACIFIQUE – Metamorphique Crème

This product sells for R900 for 50ml

Yes I know it’s a bit steep, but this definately worth it.

I was a bit sceptical at first, I mean, really, a cream, is a cream (or so the say).

But then I tried it, after the first few nights, I noticed my skin looking plumper and more radiant, almost as if I have “new skin”. This is a Vitamin A, anti-wrikle cream and a definite must have for all ladies over 25.

It diminishes existing signs of ageing, aided by two forms of Vitamin A. It assists the body to rebuild damaged collagen, reinforcing and rejuvenating the skin. It reduces wrinkles and combats sun damage (we live in Africa after all).

This cream is dermatologist approved, and best of all… it is NOT tested on animals, and it does NOT contain any animal ingredients.

You will use this as a night cream, after cleansing and toning. I do however suggest for the first week or so, only use it every second day, as your skin needs to adapt to the Vitamin A.

Well poutlings, that was a quicky from me!

Have a pretty pouty perfect day!
