Dermaceutic Regen Ceutic

A while ago I went for my second Dermaceutic Milk Peel treatment. Initially afterwards my skin felt amazing. The day afterwards my skin was dehydrated and had broken out (due to the underlying congestion clearing from my skin after the peel) which made me feel like a teenager again – boy do I not miss those days! To top this off the breakouts were extremely sensitive to touch – so cleansing, toning and moisturising (which is rule no. 1 after a peel) was quite a nightmare. I spoke to Dermaceutic and they recommended that I use the Regen Ceutic to restore my skin post peel… I was looking forward to making my skin feel as amazing as it did following my first peel.

“The synergy of 2 high-performance repairing peptides stimulates dermal synthesis; hyaluronic acid and powerful antioxidants hydrate and help the skin protect and restore itself.”

Regen CeuticMy skin continued with its little breakout moment for about 4 days following peel but religiously using my Regen Ceutic post cleansing my skin and following it up with a high quality SPF coverage to protect my skin from the harmful UVA and UVB rays my skins moisture increased and my face felt rejuvenated. I believe this is partly to do with the cream and partly to do with the peel. I am loving my skin at the moment all thanks to Dermaceutic. The Regen Ceutic is designed to deliver long lasting quality hydration to the skin, is suited for sensitive skin and is 100% safe to use following aesthetic treatments. It is also recommended for generally sensitive, dehydrated and aging skin in order to nourish and firm the skin as a long lasting skin care solution.

3% Peptides Complex

A synergy of 2 of the most efficient peptides, which stimulates collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin production to induce an anti-wrinkle effect from within.

3% Hyaluronic Acid Gel

Moisturises the skin and improves firmness

Stabilized vitamin C & E

Combination of vitramins which combats and limits the signs of photo-aging and has an anti-inflammatory action

Shea Butter

Hydrates and nourishes the skin

I am seriously so sold on this product, it was soothing when my skin was sensitive and I think even just as a night time skin spoil for me, it is staying on my bathroom counter for the foreseeable future and may need a restocking soon. The recommended retail price is R550 but for more information on the Dermaceutic range or where to find a stockist near you please contact Conquest for more information or get in touch on Facebook or Twitter @DermaceuticSA.

Dermaceutic Sun Ceutic

DERMACEUTICLooking at sunscreens on offer can be daunting. What do you need to look for when choosing the correct sunscreen for your specific needs? This needs to be addressed on an individual needs basis and the one I’m eyeing recently for an upcoming trip to Italy is yet another Dermaceutic product, this time in their Protect range. Sun Ceutic 50, this sunscreen lives up to the promise of all Dermaceutic products and boasts the fact that it is safe to be used after chemical peels, laser treatments, cosmetic surgery and injecitons. All of which have a high intensity of treatment on the skin and makes the skin vulnerable and prone to pigmentation if the correct protection is not applied to the skin when exposed to the suns damaging UVA and UVB rays. Regardless of the fact of whether you have had any skin procedures the sun rays can also cause fine lines, wrinkles and there is truly nothing worse than sunburn so skin needs lots of protection from the elements.

I have yet to try the product but as having such successful results from Dermaceutic The Stimulating Night Cream and Dermaceutic Regen Ceutic (review to follow soon).

The Dermaceutic active key ingridients in the Sun Ceutic include:

Zinc Oxide

Promoting healing of skin, also has some antiseptic properties.

Titanium dioxide

A physical suncreen that reflects UV light before it can damage skin. Reducing the risk of sunburn which are associated with increased risk of melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer).

Hyaluronic Acid 1%

This is naturally produced by the body and the average human has approximately 15 grams of hyaluronan in the body, one-third which is “turned over” every day. Because of it occuring naturally in the body it has to be one of the most interesting ingredients in skin care, by adding some extra into your skincare routine the additonal hyaluronic acid secures moisture and creates fullness – resulting in naturally youthful fuller skin.

Aloe Vera

Benefits of Aloe Vera are not just old wives tales, its healing qualities along with soothing qualities make it one of the best ingridients for sensitve skin to build a strong barrier function and sooth aggrivated and dry skin.

30ml sells for R400 and is available from seleced Clinics and Salons, for a stockist near you please contact Conquest.

Dermaceutic Stimulating Night Cream

TurnoverSince I am only really starting to embrace the Cosmeceutical side of life since being introduced to peels from Dermaceutic, I was interested in their line of products for at home use. I was given two 3ml sized testers of the Turn Over Stimulating Night Cream which is said to promote skin turnover and reduce the appearance of signs of aging. Turn over is recommended to treat the loss of skin tone, wrinkles and fine lines.

Upon the application of the product at night after cleansing and toning I could certainly feel the active ingredients working on my skin. The formula is light and doesn’t leave a hint of greasy feeling on your skin,  while it has a slight tingle feel to it but nothing to worry about as this product contains a formula of concentrated glycolic acid (15%) which removes dead cells that build up on the skin’s surface and stimulates cellular renewal for the quest for forever young and beautiful skin. Due to the acidic content the product almost smells like chemicals but it is not a strong smell and disappears quickly.

Because I am so far from being an expert on all things cosmeceutical, here is the explanation from Dermaceutic on what the 15% Glycoluc Acid Solution will do for your skin.

“Reduces corneocyte cohesion of the keratin layer of the skin, enabling homogeneous exfoliation of upper layers. By removing dead cells from the skins surface, the signs of aging are less visible, the skin appears smoother and complexion is more homogeneous.”

Upon waking up in the morning after day 2 of using this my skin felt firmer, brighter and ready to take on the day face forward! The best way I can understand this product is that it essentially makes you shed all the unwanted dead skin cells over night, like a mini-overnight peel, so that you can face the following day with poise and finesse all while having incredible skin with a youthful glow.

The recommended retail price for a full size product is R500 for 50ml and is available at selected spas and salons nationwide. For more information on the at home skincare available from Dermaceutic, please contact Conquest.

Dermaceutic Milk Peel

I must confess, I am very fond of going to a salon or spa to relax and unwind, it is my ultimate guilty pleasure. I love the salons that echo peace, tranquillity and a safe haven to unwind and distress and to top it all off they make you feel wonderful when you leave. To me that is the epitome of luxury and being spoilt – even a wax or laser hair treatment makes you feel better (once it’s finished) and you feel refreshed and ready to take on the world.Guilty Pleasure

Ageless FacesThe salon I visited for my peel was Ageless Faces, and they are a quaint but luxurious skin clinic located in Claremont, Cape Town who specialise in innovative anti-ageing treatments in order to prolong the need to go for cosmetic surgery apart from chemical peels they offer a wide range of treatments including but not limited to Aesther Isolaz laser; PRP “Vampire” Facials; Botox & Fillers; Dermaroller Collagen Induction Therapy; Mesotherapy; Cryo-lift; Dermapen and general beauty treatments including eyelash extensions; Caribbean Spray Tans and pride themselves in only using the top products available in order to achieve the maximum results. Dermaceutic

If you are unsure about what a chemical peel actually is, have a read of my post over here.

Until recently, I have read and heard a lot about peels but it was still very much an area that I was not familiar with and was a bit horrified after seeing shocking results of peels that have gone wrong in the past but being given the opportunity to go and experience a Dermaceutic peel who are the most well known and renown brands for facial peels and being the preferred market leader for over 30,000 aesthetic dermatology specialists worldwide, there was no doubt in my mind that I had to finally embrace a peel and see exactly what all the fuss is about when it comes to peels and what a better way to start off than with the industries best?  I was so excited/nervous before having my peel that I did not think to take before and after photographs to share but no one wants to see me without makeup anyway 😉DERMACEUTIC Milk Peel Treatment

Dermaceutic offered me to go and try their Milk Peel Rejuvenation Treatment and don’t worry because I didn’t know what that was either but I eagerly said YES and jumped at the opportunity. In the broad scale of what peels are available saying on a scale of one to three with number three being a super strong concentrated resulting in maximum downtime following; two being a peel of medium strength which will result in a couple of days downtime; and finally number one being a peel that is of the most gentle nature. The Milk Peel on the before mentioned scale to me, in my opinion would be a one-and-half as it is very gentle on the skin and does not cause the skin to react in such ways that only little or in most cases no downtime is necessary following the treatment however it is very active and the results are very effective and even though there is no specific downtime following the peel it is recommended to be extra vigilant about moisturising your skin and ensuring that you adequately protect it from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

The peel in total probably took a maximum of 15 minutes. It started off with cleansing of the face to ensure that the peel is being applied to the top layer of skin so that it can penetrate the skin faster, once my skin was sparkling clean around my lips and the base of my nose my aesthetician applied some Vaseline to protect the areas where I would be most likely to react very quickly to the peel. The peel itself is then applied on a small brush to the forehead, nose, chin and then finally my cheek area – carefully avoiding the delicate eye area. Upon the peel touching my skin I felt a slight crawling sensation – nothing unbearable – but I could tell there was something very active on my skin. My wonderful aesthetician fanned my face but before I knew it (I think it was 2 minutes), it was time to neutralise the peel which was an incredibly soothing and pleasant feeling.

My skin felt slightly sensitive following my treatment but I was offered to use some Oxygenetix Treatment Foundation to hide the slight redness and was advised that this would also help speed up the recovery process of my skin. Although it was a slight shade too dark for me, mixed in with plenty of moisturiser – no one noticed! On the days following my peel my skin was good –  some of the trials of the Milk Peel experienced slight flaking of the skin but there was no flakiness for me! Only bright, refreshed looking skin which I religiously moisturised (as instructed) on the days following the peel.

The Milk Peel is designed to restore a healthy shine, increase collagen production and leave the skin natural even looking complexions. I don’t believe before I had the peel that my skin was dull but my pores certainly felt quite clogged and in need of a good extraction (the worst part about facials – right?) but after having the peel my skin feels smoother and I believe it is naturally brighter and more radiant and my pores are more clear albeit still large! On days 5 and 6 following the peel I had a few spots come up (quite rare even though I do have an oily skin) but they were really nothing serious and went as quickly as they arrived. I’m still happy to just wear a bit of BB cream over my moisturiser instead of a full face of foundation all-day everyday. Foundation is great for special occasions and photographs but I’m really going through a less face-cake period in my life and enjoying having a natural and glowing skin that’s not being faked by wonderful NARS Sheer Glow Foundation.

A course of Milk Peels are recommend in similar intervals than what one would expect for facials as having a course of regular Milk Peels would eliminate the need for monthly facials and be replaced by monthly peels. If you are looking to feel pampered then treatment masks can be applied once your face has been neutralised but this is a nice-to-have and not part of the peeling process. I am planning on going for another one in about 6 weeks from my first (depending on my budget) and I am really looking forward to see if a series of these Milk Peels will make an even better improvement to my skin health.

Dermaceutic and Conquest, thank you for helping me love my skin again I am quite sure you are to become one of my skin rituals in the future.

Check out Dermaceutic’s website, Facebook and follow them on Twitter @DermaceuticSA to find out more about the other intriguing genius and result-driven treatments they offer.

If you’re in Cape Town or planning on visiting for a pamper-holiday be sure to visit Ageless Faces website and and Facebook and see what they can do for your skin.
