Dakota Fanning Wears Chanel & Couture Cat Ears

In my mind, it is crazy that Dakota Fanning is only 18 years old; the girl has been around for what seems to be like forever. The Fannings obviously don’t waste any time getting into the family business, but what I like about Dakota and her sister Elle is that they both seem incredibly smart and well-adjusted for the amount of fame they have both experienced at such young ages. I don’t forsee any Lohan-ing either in their futures… oh and let’s not forget to mention that they are both FASHION WONDERKIDS who are lucky enough to be outfitted by some of the most revered designers out there.

It’s very rare that an average 18 year old can wear Chanel and look at once totally arresting and also completely age appropriate, but I suppose if anyone’s going to be able to pull it off, it’s Dakota.

Dakota has covered the December issue of InStyle UK to promote her role as creepy Jane in Breaking Dawn : Part 2, and the cover shot itself features a white jacquard Chanel dress. Dakota looks beautiful, youthful and extremely sweet here.

I happen to have mixed feelings about the other photo which pictures her in a Dolce & Gabanna corset, a Roberto Cavalli skirt (which OMG, is GORGEOUS!), and cat ears. I really think we could have done with the cat ears, but from what I understand about styling (not a whole lot) the stylists wanted her to look youthful as she is still only 18 years old even though she’s going semi-risque with the corset. The interview isn’t very interesting but does include a question about Kristen Stewart’s affair with Rupert Sanders and the resultant crimpled heart of Sparkles.

ON THE TWIHARD MELTDOWN

“Everyone thinks they have the right to, you know, publicise the struggles and sadness and heartbreak and all of that. It’s like, ‘Why do you think you are the authority to judge people’s experiences?’ “

WHY SHE HASN’T LOST IT YET

“Why have I been able to stay sane in a sometimes insane world? The pure love of what I do. Making movies.”

ON THE HOUNDDOG RAPE SCENE

“I’ve always been drawn to material that’s more kind of heavy, you know? Whether it be dark or dramatic or sometimes disturbing. And that can be hard to do when people think you’re still a kid.”

SHE’S ONLY HAD 1 BOYFRIEND AND IS CURRENTLY SINGLE

“You know, I’m not the kind of girl or person who really wants a boyfriend in my life. I’m also the kind of person… I’m very black and white in what I feel and I don’t wanna be with someone that I don’t foresee spending a long time with.”

I think I understand Dakota’s perspective on the situation because she and Kirsten are very good friends and have not only worked together on The Twilight Saga but also grew very close on the set of The Runaways. Dakota only sees the good in Kristin, and she want’s to defend her. However, I don’t really think the bulk of the criticism over the K-Stew affair with Rupert has anything to do with “judg[ing] people’s experiences” in general. Instead, Kristen’s caught a lot of heat (from the non-Twihards, anyway) for pretending to be above all of the Hollywood cliches, and then she got caught behaving like a Hollywood cliche. Or rather, she got banging her married director like a so-called “typical” starlet.

As for Dakota, I hope she carries on just as she’s been doing as a NYU studen who somehow manages to squeeze in a bit of time for films on occassion. I predict she will be just fine.

A SURVEY SAYS: If you Bought Leather Pants, You Regret it

Poutlings!

Some trends infect the fashion world like a disease and it’s only a matter of time before you catch the bug. One of those trends last year was leather pants and surveys say that they are the trend you most regret buying into.

Lambrini, conducted a survey of 2,000 women surrounding trends they most regret purchasing. With a 46% REGRET FACTOR, leather pants topped the charts as the “most regrettable purchase“.

As sexy as people perceive leather can be, the material can be very unforgiving and expensive to purchase, making its number one position logical. Following leather pants, is an interesting contender, shell suits. While no one we know of has ever bought a “shell suit” that is under the age of 40… An lastly rounding out the top three is a deliciously tacky trend of velour tracksuits.

Check out what other trends of Christmas past still haunt your memories today. How many of these have you bought into? A lady never reals her past fashion fax-pas, but your closet will surely not lie.

Michaela Kocianova for Suite Blanco Winter 2012

Hiya Poutlings

The renowned supermodel Michaela Kocianova is featured in the new Fall/ Winter 2012 collection of Suite Blanco. Michaela is 23 years old and from Slovakia. Being dazzling and perfect, Michaela Kocianova shows off her best to display the intriguing collection.

I absolutely love how simple, elegant this collection is.

Michaela’s slavic beauty was chosen for her sophisticated looks and internal elegance, that is highlighted by the new collection pieces from Suite Blanco. She wears things casually, yet looks stunning both the elegant formal burgundy dress, or the texas styled shirt and jeans.

Are you loving it?

NYFW : Norisol Ferrari Runway Show

Hiya Poutlings!

As I mentioned in my post about the Sheri Hill runway show, I am trying to keep updated with all the news from New York Fashion Week, but there is just an overload of amazing designers, models, and trends that I am struggling to keep ahead of it all. I will try and keep you updated with the most interesting stories, in my opinion of course 😉

For the past five days there has been nothing but familiar teenage faces pouting their way down the runway, show after show. So it’s refreshing to see a designer really kick the trend in the teeth and do something completely different. Possibly cast women that may just *gasp* around the same age as their respective target market. NORISOL FERRARI did just that at her show on Monday morning. Norisol Ferrari sent icons like Carol Alt, Alva Chinn and Carmen Dell’Orefice, who is 81 years young, down the catwalk amidst some of the fresher faces.

Alva Chinn – 57 Years Old

Carmen Dell Orefice – 81 Years Old

Carol Alt – 51 years old

The iconic faces were a huge hit amongst the crowd, especially since they didn’t just do the old walk-turn-repeat favoured by most of the designers these days. Alva Chinn for the most part, shashayed leisurely down the runway, stopping to strike a seductive pose or two along the way. Carmen Dell’Orefice also interrupted her walk to elegantly mug for the cameras, creating lots of applause amongst the audience.

It was a lot of enthusiam coming from the audience, which I would imagine are mostly Upper-East-Types (simply because I have watched Gossip Girl, hahaha) but then, these were definitely clothes for the confident, mature and above all sophisticated women. There was a definite femme fatale vibe to this collection, which included seaside separates paired with oversized hats, trim, neutral pieces and sweeping evening gowns, while I am not sure I have the attitude to pull off the saucer-sized chapeaux, I have no doubt Carmen Dell’Orefice and crew would put today’s street styles to shame under of those hats.

I certainly take my hat off to these ladies to remind the younger generation that this is certainly elegance in its finest form.
