Research is showing that the way to good health is lifestyle. Making simple changes to diet, exercise and stress management is all you need to turn knowledge to results. The following are tips to healthy lifestyle:

Think positive and focus on gratitude- positive attitude will help you build healthier immune system and boost your overall health. It is true that our body believes on what you think and thus it is credible to focus on positive undertaking.

Eat more vegetables– put more interest on eating vegetables at least five times a day. A diet high in vegetables is associated with reduced risk of developing cancers of the lung, colon, breast, cervix, stomach, pancreas and ovary. Put more interest on eating foods such as cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, grapes and leaf greens.

Set a five meal ideal– it is credible if you mind what, when and what to eat to help you balance your metabolism and energy levels. This ideal situation will help you manage your weight, keep you cool and maintain your focus towards avoiding cravings.

Exercise daily– investing in daily exercises will help you reduce all biomarkers of aging such as impaired eyesight, blood pressure, lean muscles and bone density. Regular exercise will improve bone density, lower cholesterol and help you live longer. Setting aside ten minutes daily for exercise will help you make difference in your life. You can achieve this through dancing in your room, walking to the park with kids, bike to work and going for a hike.

Eating light meal will help your body and mind to switch to sleep mode. You can also darken your room to help remove stress associated with sleep.

Use foods over supplements– supplements are not a substitute for a good diet. Avoid supplements because they are associated with diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

Ensure satisfaction– eating and physical activities are fun and should stimulate your sensory experiences. When engaging for physical activity, aim at pleasure and not pain. Pay attention to nutritional value of foods you eat as well as satisfaction, relaxation, tension and relieve fatigue. Choose water as a drink– water is the best liquid to quench your thirst. Prefer taking whole fruits rather than juices. Refrain from taking fresh milk as a drink to relieve thirsty.

BORN THIS WAY? Yes, Insecure to the Bone

Hiya Poutlings

I’m sure by now that most of you are aware that I’ve never ever bought into this women… For example, just two weeks ago she was banging on about the media hoo-ha of her weight gain, then she posted a series of photographs of her in her underwear (of doing sit-ups around the clock for a week) accompanied a “Body Revolution” campaign urging others to embrace their bodies. The mixed message of “embrace who you are” with “look I’m thin again” doesn’t agree with me… and I really do not give a shit if she DID suffer from bulimia and/or annorexia since she was a teenager, she has a social responsibility to fufil as her target market is a young generation with young minds, and I must be honest, I don’t believe the bullshit that comes out of her mouth anyway.

So she’s gone back to parading her bod as a matter of business, because frankly, her music is not her main business…. On Friday she went for lunch and Les Pirates, Juan Les Pins in the South of France in a bikini top/bra and denim shorts – so desperate for us to see that she’s toned up again.

I do not call this a Body Revolution, to me that is simply treating your body like a piece of meat. Oh yes, she likes to wear meat too…

I question the likes Yoko Ono and Oprah Winfrey praising Draga as a role model to misaligned youth. The message I’m receiving from Gaga is: Cover your body when it doesn’t meet your perception of society’s expection, then crash diet and compulsively exercise, and walk around half naked to prove that you’ve got a hot bod again.

As I’ve always believed, and it has now been proved yet again, she was in fact BORN THIS WAY, insecure!! She needs a warning label for the under 18s.

So anyway, Draga went back to her fail safe of early 2012 injecting the “Lady” back into her look for the launch of her ironical expensive hooker scent, Fame, at Harrods this weekend. Draga arrived to her appearance in a gold horse drawn carriage. Classy.

for this occassion, Lady Gaga got her RuPaul on with full length figure-hugging black dress, massive hair, winged Winehouse eyes and baroque horror claws… what the feck?

Eleganza!

 I rest my case…

ABSsolutely Fabulous!

Now Ladies we all want a super models body yet we have to remember we all have different body types, shapes and sizes!

So Poutlings here are some amazing AB workouts!

20120715-173625.jpg

These are some of my favourite ab workouts! Training abs is one of my favourite body parts to train! Sharing my secrets is always a pleasure!

Remember with ab workouts, a lot of hard work is required, they are a large muscle group so doing 10min abs won’t help get that six pack or a washboard stomach!

AB Workout 1: Leg Raises

20120715-185811.jpg

A simple exercise, but one which you must be careful with. Remember to never put strain on your back or neck during any ab workout.

For leg raises, you simply climb on the machine and raise your legs, if you a beginner start off with bent knees and once you feel strong enough raise your legs straight up with knees straight.

Stand on the chair and grip handholds to stabilize your upper body.
Press your back against the pad and contract the abs to raise the legs and lift knees towards your chest.
Don’t arch the back or swing the legs up.
Slowly lower back down and repeat for 1-5 sets of 12-16 reps.

AB Workout 2: Incline sit ups

20120715-190545.jpg

This is yet another simple exercise, remember to keep your back straight and not to put strain on your neck.

Sit on the chair, with legs under supportive grips.
Hands behind head, raise your chest towards your knees.
Slowly lower back down and repeat for 1-5 sets of 12-16 reps.

AB Workout 3: Kettlebell Side Crunch

20120715-191352.jpg

This exercise can be done using either kettlebells or dumbells, I personally prefer the Kettlebell.

Standing with feet shoulder width apart, a Kettlebell in each hand.
Bend side to side, making sure you can feel the stretch in your sides.
Slowly go down and back up on each side and repeat for 1-5 sets of 12-16 reps.

AB Workout 4: Rope Crunch

20120715-192017.jpg

20120715-192058.jpg

You need a lot of strength for this exercise, focus on your abs thought the whole movement.

Kneeling straight up with rope behind you.
Slowly bend forward, focusing on abs and slowly go back up.
Repeat for 1-5 sets of 12-16 reps.

AB Workout 5: Lying Leg Raise

20120715-192652.jpg

This exercise work wonders ladies.
Keep your back straight and neck relaxed.

Start lying flat on the floor, you may hold onto a machine with your arms to give you some support.
Raise your legs up, make sure they straight, lifting your bum off the bench or floor once legs have been fully straightened.

So Poutlings, work hard and push through. Do ab workouts for no less than half an hour and watch what you eat, or results will take time.

Basic Wellness

20111207-164559.jpg

Hey Fabulous Pouters!

So we all trying to keep fit and healthy in the busy lifestyles people have now a days, yet most people struggle due to the fact that they are so busy.

We all need to keep it simple, and remember the basics about what our bodies need and what they don’t need, we often put our bodies through stress because of the type of foods we eat or by not giving our bodies time to relax.

I am going to give you our Pouters some helpful tips one should use, whether you male or female.

Tip 1: Replenish your energy.

Energy is essential in this sleep-deprived, over stretched, high-speed world.

-Firstly we need to add more alkaline-forming foods into your diet, such as green leafy vegetables, almonds, dates, celery,

-We must now get rid of excess sugar as this can cause fluctuations in blood sugar level which can cause plummeting energy levels.

-Insufficient protein can cause lowered energy levels, so pack some almonds and nuts for a quick convenient snack.

-I know this will be hard for our very own Sandylash, yet we need to cut down on the intake of coffee, as coffee initially raises stress hormones and gives a rush of energy. Try to gradually cut back on the coffee intake.

-Take time for yourself, at least a 20min relaxation period, where you do nothing stressful, like read a book, have some tea in the garden, listen to some music, or a soothing bubble bath.

-And the all time common one is drink plenty of water.

Tip 2: Revamp your diet.

-Start your morning right, have breakfast! Eating breakfast has shown it prevents over-eating during the day. Stick to a healthier option for breakfasts, either high fibre, or a smoothie, some yoghurt and muslei.

-Eat more veggies, try stick to veggies that are most natural as these contain the most nutrients.

-Cut out butter or margarine, these are both tasteless fatty substances we use to create the illusion of something tasting better, all you tasting is the salt that’s been added into these products. Rather cook with olive oil or avocado oil.

-Cut out fizzy drinks, they packed with sugar and are overall not good for you, if you feel you really need a fizzy drink choose Appletizer, their fizzy drinks are a lot healthier than the others.

-Cut down on the in take of carbs, if you are gaming or doing any type of sporting activity make sure you have your daily carbs before your workout. Don’t eat carbs later than 4pm.

Tip 3: Improve your digestion.

-Chew, chew, chew! Take smaller bites, put your fork in between bites, thoroughly chew each bite of food, do not rush when you eat. If it helps use chopsticks to eat, this will cause you to slow down.

-Increase your dietary fibre. Eat dried fruits, beans and legumes, take an apple to work.

-Practise mindful eating. Slowly savour the flavour of the food, and be aware of how much of the food is enough. Create a peaceful atmosphere to eat in, this will prevent you from rushing and you will enjoy your meal more, which will help with cravings later on.

Tip 4: De-stress your schedule.

-Write it down. Have all your events, meetings, plans, birthdays, etc written down and planned out in a diary of some sort, so you can see where you have space open to make further plans, or to prevent missing important events or meetings.

-The five minute rule. If a task comes up and it’s going to take less than five min, do it there and then. It will help from those little jobs building up, without impacting our productivity.

-Think carefully about the things you take on, do not over crowd yourself with things to do, this will lead to you disappointing either yourself or someone else if you can’t handle it.

Tip 5: Move your body.

-My all time favourite is to get into the gym and get moving, there is nothing better than a great workout, 20-30min of medium intensity exercising daily is sufficient to keep the body going, but it has never harmed anyone to push a little harder and do a little more.

-Target your ‘core’ this is the area around your trunk and pelvis, including your abs and lower back. Targeting these muscles, not only gives you nice abs, but gives support to your lower back. A week core over time can lead to bad posture, lower back pain and injury.

-Try new and different exercises, otherwise you’ll get bored and lose interest.

-Make gym your friend and enjoy the time there, don’t turn it into something you dislike

Stick to the basics when it comes to health and wellness, and your body will thank you for it!
