Beautiful eyes with Catrice in 6 easy steps

I love doing my eye makeup. Even more so than my lips or my cheeks. I always feel that when my eye makeup is perfect, that everything else will fall into place. In this post I will explain to you how you can have beautiful eyes using only 6 Catrice makeup items.

Step 1: Catrice Prime and Fine Eyeshadow Base (R62-99) – This is such a lovely product to use as you only need to apply a little bit of product. It actually enhances the colour of your eyeshadow and it makes your eyeshadow last longer.

Step 2: Catrice eyebrow set  (R89-95) – Fill in your eyebrows using this product. There are 2 colours, one for blondes and one for brunettes and it also contains a little tweezer. It is perfect for everyday use.

20150905_100949Step 3: Catrice Absolute Rose eyeshadow palette in Frankie Rose to Hollywood (R89-95) – This 6 pan eyeshadow palette contains lovely colours which can easily transform from day to night. The colours are highly pigmented and blends easily while they last the whole day.

Step 4: Catrice Velvet matt smokey Eyes Pencil in 020 Avockhaki (R44-95) – This pencil is dual ended with the pencil being on the one side and a little brush applicator being on the other side. It is matte and the colour payoff is amazing. It blends and smudges easily and this khaki colour compliments the rose eyeshadow colours perfectly. Perfect for daytime use.

Step 5: Catrice Made to stay inside eye Khol Kajal (R49-95) – I prefer to use black eye pencils for a night time look. It is retractable and waterproof. This product glides on smoothly and stays put the whole day which is great. I just hate it when my eyeliner creep into the corners of my eyes after a few hours. This product is wonderful as it eliminates that problem entirely.

Step 6: Catrice Jet Lash Speed Volume Mascara in Ultra black (R74-95) – I love this mascara. The arrow shaped applicator does a great job at seperating and lengthening my lashes while giving me the desired volume I so desperately need. The deep black colour makes my lashes look really defined and beautiful. I am already using my second tube of this lovely mascara.

There you have it. Six products you can use from Catrice cosmetics which can be easily transformed from day time to night time looks. I have been using all of these products for a few months now and they are great quality and they all cost under R500, which is great value.

Catrice Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette – 010 Frankie Rose to Hollywood

There is something magical about eyeshadow palettes, you get so many colours with different effects and it feels like one can never have enough of the lovely colours that makes our eyes pop.

20150606_155647

Housed in a plastic container, this pan contains 6 shades that goes from light to dark. Along with the palette you receive a dual ended applicator, one side being a sponge applicator and the other side being a small brush. To be honest, I never use the applicators provided and use my own eyeshadow brushes.

The colours in this palette is simply beautiful and you can create so many different looks with it. It is hard to capture a picture of the colours that does it justice, so I ended up not including the swatch pictures, because it does not look they way it looks on your eyes.

Varying from light to dark, the colours range from pearly, to matte to shimmer. I have been loving all of these colours and use it basically every day, the only colour I find hard to ‘relate to’ is the dark colour on the far right. I have been struggling to blend the maroon shimmer colour perfectly.

This palette is highly pigmented, smooth on application and very easy to blend, the only problem I am finding with it is that I experience a lot of fallout of product. In the pan itself, but also under my eyes while applying it. So my only tip would be to keep your concealer and setting powder at hand when you apply this product as you might have to follow up with a touch up after applying the eyeshadow. Will it keep me from using it? In no way, no. With such lovely colours it is not a deal breaker with me.

The longevity of this product is quite good, but I have found that if I use it combined with the Catrice Prime and fine eyeshadow base, that the colours seems to stay on longer and that the base just makes the colours pop a little more.

For a budget item, this is definitely a good buy. You can find it at Dischem stores nationwide and it retails for R90.

Love,

Leandra

Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate

When Clarins say ‘super’ in the product’s name, then you know they are meaning serious business. Allow me to deliberate a little bit.

Clarins created this product to act on all visible signs of ageing around the eyes, from Dark circles to Crow’s feet to Puffiness and Deep wrinkles. I struggle with crow’s feet, discoloration, age spots in my eye area, dark circles and puffiness and thought I am probably the best guinea pig for this products.

20150704_152816

This product is housed in a red, pump action bottle with 15ml of product. The consistency is a white, super light, gel like cream that glides on. They say you apply it twice daily around the eye area from temple to temple, so I envisioned me having a pair of spectacles on my face, and all the areas where the spectacles would cover my skin, would be the total eye area I would cover with this product daily (Take note, you apply it everywhere around the eye area, not just the bottom of the eyes, but the top as well).

This products contains the following ingredients:

  • Organic Harungana Leaf extract helps smooth wrinkles and crow’s feet.
  • Albizia extract brightens dark circles.
  • Guarana extract helps reduce puffiness.
  • Cassie Flower wax instantly smoothes.
  • Cupuaçu Butter nourishes.
  • Golden Pearls illuminate eye contours.
  • D-Panthenol enhances lashes.

Did it work? Yes, yes and yes. I started to see visible results in only 4 days. I am already at day 16, but haven’t had time to take a new picture of my eye area yet. Here is a picture comparing my before picture and my results at day 4.

Both are my right eye, I think the angle of the pictures were taken differently. The results are staggering and it is actually hard to document it properly in a picture.

The skin around my eye area is less resilient (for a lack of a better word). To explain that statement I would say that my skin under my eyes was not the delicate flower it was supposed to be, it felt more like a rough patch. Now with using this product my eye area is soft to the touch, velvety, less blotchy and definitely just looks better.

It literally feels to me like this product erases a thin layer of damaged skin each day, over time fading away all the imperfections. I am impressed and will definitely recommend this product to anyone experiencing the same issues than me.

You can find them at Clarins counters nationwide and they retail for R825 for 15ml.

Love,

Leandra

Make-Up Designory – Review

For the past few months I’ve been testing and loving some new products from MUD (Make-Up Designory); which were sent to me for review purposes.

I am already familiar with the brand and have posted about them here: Cover Me in MUD.

I have been spoilt in using an eye shadow compact in Tinsel which is part of the recently launched Muse Collection launched by MUD AND A crème Lip and Cheek Colour. Here is a look I created using the two stunning MUD products + some BB cream, powder, gel liner, mascara and some brow gel. MUD Makeup Review

Let’s talk about: Tinsel, Eye Shadow Compact (R199) from the Muse Collection (if bought together: R1,075).

As previously posted by myself, there really is not much can rival the intensity of colour of a MUD eye shadow, they blend perfectly and you can easily “build” them for a more intense colour which is one of the many reasons why they are so fantastic. By using just one shade you can easily build the colour to be darker in the outer corner of the eye and a light colour to be on the inner eye as pictured above. This is an easy, achievable take on a smoky eye in a few minutes using only one shade of eye shadow and one brush.

MUD REVIEW

Let’s talk about: Crème Cheek Colour – R220

I have NEVER used a cream based blusher before, I have always been a lover of using powder based blushers… I have truly been converted and I will struggle to use anything else. The product has a slight stickiness to it, without being greasy which has probably been my biggest steer-away factor from other crème blushers. When applying it, one must use a very light handed approach as using a little, goes a long way. If you apply too much, it is easily blended away and doesn’t leave you looking like a rag doll. Unlike normal powder blushers that sometimes need reapplying after a few hours as they lose their colour and intensity, the crème stays on as long as you keep your makeup on. I find its better to be applied over foundation for perfect glowing colour which radiates from the face. Absolutely fantastic. Not my go-to choice for a lip colour but for a natural sheer finish it can pull together the face without having to carry tons of different products around.

If you are interested in trying some MUD for yourself, be sure to check their website for the closest store to you. Don’t forget to follow them on Twitter @MUDSouthAfrica and follow them on Facebook.

Disclaimer: These products were sent to me for review purposes. This in no way has altered my view of the products in anyway and I will happily be purchasing more MUD products in the future.
