SKNLogic Renew Footbalm

Renew FootbalmAbout six months ago my paws got hold of a foot balm from SKNLogic and following this, I received another footbalm from SKNLogic in a goodiebag from #BWB. I had not yet used the first footbalm given to me in December last year at an end of year function because I was busy using another. Anyway, roll on winter time 2014 which is peak season for me to do some serious foot/heel TLC before embarking on a whirlwind overseas adventure and I quickly grabbed my stash of SKNLogic foot balms. I have been using it religiously once a day after showering/bathing and if I’ve had a long day in heels a good slap of this wonderful stuff on my feet before bed is just what is needed! In a short and sweet summary – my feet feel fabulous!

I have just started on my second footbalm after cutting the tube open of my first one because I didn’t want to waste any of the amazing moisturising concuction which soothes sore feet (especially after long days of plodding along in heels).

The SKNLogic Renew footbalm contains amazing ingredients like cucumber extract which hydrates while removing dead skin cells, Vitamin E which protects the skin assists with maintaining the skins oil balance, Orange Oil which works as anti-inflammatory and improves the skins elasticity, Shea Butter providing intense hydration, accelerates healing and soothes the skin, Fig Extract which promotes new cell growth and hydrates regulating trans-epidermal loss and not forgetting the sunflower oil, wheat germ oil and steric acid.

The SKNLogic brand is growing on me, even more so when I learnt that the products are manufactured locally in South Africa with packaging and printing being done here too. If they are not an incentive to support local, then I don’t know what is. To find out more and view their other products visit their website, Facebook and Twitter @SKNLOGIC.

The Renew Footbalm retails for R85 (75ml) and is available at salons and spas nationwide.

Disclaimer: I’ve received this product twice as a gift at various events. This has in no way altered my view of this product in anyway.

Guest Contribution : Six Beauty Tips to Add Glamour in Women’s Grooming

Ever wondered why grooming is so important? You can have that perfect face and those envious curves to die for, but with a sloppy jeans and that 90’s hair-do you can lose out on a lot of things, you never thought you were meant to own in the first place. Beauty most obviously is about being your own self, nobody is asking you to be a plastic, but grooming is what enumerates beauty, it’s more like teaming that red belt with that little black dress. So here’s six beauty tips that would definitely add glamour to your lifestyle:

Sleep Well

The first and the most important beauty tip is to sleep well, for a minimum of 6-8 hours, that ways you would look fresh. It is important not to wake up with exaggerated dark-circles or puffed eyes, if you look fresh, that makes you feel fresh. So you walk into that board room looking just as good as you were may be two years back.

No Revelations

Women love attention, but it is important to attract the right kind of attention, you don’t obviously want to get mugged. So avoid revealing dresses under all possible circumstances, appear tact and not desperate. Wear properly fitted clothes, with body lines that suit your body-types. Wear what makes you comfortable and respectable.

Mmmmm… Fragrance

It is pivotal for a woman to smell nice, you cannot go out there looking like Angelina Jolie and smelling like a mule. Obviously, not everybody can afford the Chanel No 5, but that does not mean that none of the other perfumes are worth it. Pick out a fragrance that defines you as a lady- summary, sweet and naughty. Avoid perfumes with strong alcohol content and do not apply them directly on skin. Oh and your neck and that wrist, mandatorily requires a sprinkle before a night-out.

 Accessorize it Right

Accessories play a very important role in defining you. Mix and match is a concept which hardly ever goes wrong, but remember do not end up looking like a junk-box. Keep it minimal. It is not always mandatory to accessorize yourself, however a sling bag and a belt is hardly something one can go wrong with.

The Hair and the Make-up

One needs to have an extremely good understanding of how much is too much. The hair and the make-up should be minimalistic and totally based on the place you are supposed to be at. Creating that messy up-do can bring out oomph in the evening party, but would give straight from the bed appearance in the office board-room, not what is expected. For hair, the safest is keeping it straight or rolled into a tact bun, and for daily make-up a little shimmer, soft kohl eyes and a little lip balm should do the trick. Again it’s not always about the skin care products you use, but how you use them.

Comfortable Feet

Lastly, it comes down to the saving grace. Your feet. It is important to moisturize them well, you don’t want them scarred and ugly. When it comes to the shoes you wear, make sure they are comfortable and suited for the place. It does not always have to be high heels, but cannot always be loafers. Pick a shoe that helps you glide and not just walk.

The beauty tips being there, and the skin care products to hide your flaws at their own place, always remember being beautiful is about being confident. Smile a lot, and everything else would just fall into place.

Service Review ~ Rubybox Vs Glambox

Hello Pretty pouters!

Hope you are all doing fantastically well!

So, in the past few months there has been a lot of talk on the net and in magazines about 2 services now offered in South Africa. Rubybox and Glambox. Basically what this service offers is a wonderful little treat for you.

For just the minimal price of R100 you receive a monthly box with a minimum of 4 to 5 products, some trial size and even sometimes a full size might slip into your special box.

So you subscribe to one of these services, you can pay via EFT or Credit card and once a month, like clockwork, you box of goodies is courierd to your doorstep.

So I have subscribed to both services and after about 3 months it is now my turn to give you ins and outs of this service.

So here we go! (Note I will mainly be focussing on the December boxes in this review)

Rubybox

You receive your box within the first week of every month. After opening the courier packaging, you get a matte black box with hot pink writing enveloped in organic packaging.

So as you handle the box, you hear your treats jiggle around inside, which makes you all the more excited (kindof) to just get it open and see what’s inside!

So call this an early christmas present to yourself, afterall, we all know we ladies deserve it and heck, why not put an evening aside during that month, to just relax, sit back and test all your luxury goodies that you received in your boxes?

Right, so when you open your Rubybox this what you find (not all of the December boxes had the same items in them, these are what was in mine though)

Ok first of all, the jiggling about of your treats, is because there is not protective form of cushioning for the products. Luckily in the past 3 months I have not yet received any damaged or broken products, but this should be a level of concern, as this month there was tiny glass jar in the box, which could get damaged should your parcel get squashed by some silly postman.

That aside, the December box from Rubybox contained the following products:

1. GHD Style Final Fix Hairspray – 75ml

2. Elizabeth Arden Intervene 3-in-1 Daily Cleanser Exfoliator Primer – 30ml

(Which you should know by now is my favourite new cleanser, as I received it in my October Rubybox, and now again, but I don’t mind cus now I have a travel one and I don’t have to travel with my full size one)

3. Diesel Loverdose Perfume Sample – 1,5ml

(Oh my this fragrance is just gorgeous!)

4. Africology Neroli Body Balm – 25ml

I absolutely love anything with Neroli oil.

5. A gift voucher for a Facial Analysis at Africology

They are however based in JHB so if you’re not close, you can’t really use the voucher.

All these products are well worth more than R100 (remeber to factor in what couriers cost these days) and considering I don’t have to drive to some crazy ass mall to go into shops and suffer from mall rage to get a few samples, this service is an absolute must if you want to try out products before buying full size ones.

Yes you might have heard Rubybox had some issues with their November deliveries, but every business has some growing pains. Also, a good big thumbs up for Ruby box to include eco-friendly packaging and working with a social upliftment program, Adonis Musati Project, to help pack the boxes.

I’m sure their teething problems will be ironed out soon and due time.

Right, so next up, Glambox

You receive your box within the third week of every month. Although the December boxes were delivered within the first week of December. Kudos for you Glambox for taking into account most Glam ladies will be going on holiday as of the 15th and won’t be at home to receive their boxes. After opening the courier packaging, you get a matte hot pink box. I love hot pink!

So as you handle the box, you hear nothing jiggling around inside, so you open the hot pink box, and revealed inside a very beautiful, glamorous shiny black Glambox. Immediately you feel a 100 times more special because so much care has been taken with the packaging.

So you open up the lovely shiny black box, and what do you find inside?

A little gift, your treats wrapped up with a lovely ribbon and the product explanation card. Unwind the ribbon, and open up the tissue paper and what do you find?

Your lovely treats are cushioned from damage with some black colored paper shreds, all neatly packed and waiting for your attention.

So the December Glambox consists of the following products:

1. Bourjoiss 1001 Lashes Black Quartz Mascara – Full Size

2. Cacharel Fragrance: Anais Anais – 1,5ml

Ah, Cacharel, one of my favourite fragrance companies, the once made a fragrance called Gloria, it was the most amazing ever, it lasted the whole day on your skin and was so clean and fresh and summer-ey.

3. Elancyl Stretch Mark Prevention Smooth Cream – 5ml

4. Suntra Nail Polish by Chic Cosmetics – full size

5. Mama Mio Boob tube ~ Bust & Neck Firmer- 3g

6. Pedi Relax Regenerative Cream – 50ml

It’s Summer girls! We don’t want no muffin tops in your high heels!

7. Toblerone Chocolate – 50g – YES! Every girl loves chocolate for Christmas!

All these products are well worth more than the R100 you pay for this service, and best of all, no driving around, no mall rage. Yes, I’m very mall rage prone, especially this time of the year… Hi-ho-hi-ho…

So far I have not had any hiccups with the Glambox service. (Although the product card indicates a sticker and an x-mas card in the box that wasn’t there, but seriously, it’ll just be petty to get upset about something like that, since I keep my boxes to store my hair stuff in)

I will review all product received as I use them, so that you know what to expect had your ordered your boxes, or if you wish to order a box or two in the near future.

If however you wish to subscribe for any one of these services, or both to test the waters yourself, go to

Have a pouty perfect day!

Sh’Zen

Hey Pouters!

Looking after our skin is very important from the days of our youth until our more mature days, and finding a product that works great for us individually can be very difficult.

I struggled for many years with difficult skin and not to mention the thousand of products I tried that were promised to work and to clear my skin, yet they never did, if anything they only aggravated my skin making it very frustrating for me. Some of those products are still on the market and however they may work for some people but they make me cringe.

In South Africa, many of the products people use are made in countries with a climate totally different to us, and these products are used and tested on people in those countries and often don’t work the same here in South Africa as they do overseas.

Just over a year ago I discovered a South African based beauty solution called

SH’ZEN!

Sh’zen was started in 1989 when research showed that South African women believed there to be a need for a specific solution range specialising in the care of hands, nails and cuticles. Apothecaries, aromatherapists and cosmetic chemists were closely consulted to formulate a range of the highest standard and with great excitement the initial Sh’Zen range of only 7 products was launched.

Sh’ZEn means “natural” in Japanese – and was chosen as it reflected the philosophy of the company – products whose active ingredients are primarily natural – plant extract and essential oils predominate in each product!

I started off with using the Sh’Zen’s facial range:

Sh’Zen Cleansing Cream 200ml (R239)

Sh’Zen Day Cream 50ml (R269)

 Gentle Exfoliating Cream 75ml (R269)

Sh’Zen Radiant Serum 30ml (R349)

Sh’Zen Floral Hydarting Mist (125ml) R175

I have been happily satisfied with all these products, and to some people it might be a bit pricey, however if you use the correct amounts they can last you longer than three months, obviously the more you use, the less time it lasts for. For instance one supply of the cleansing cream lasts me six months.

I have also tried some products for the hands:

Sh’Zen Exfoliating Cream 100ml (R149)

Sh’Zen Repair Cream 75ml (R125)

Loved using their hand products, makes your hands feel fresh and fabulous. I have also tried a few of their foot products, and loved them as well. Sh’Zen has an amazing range of products and so far I am very satisfied.

They run monthly specials every month, and some of their deals are to die for, and in some of their monthly special they bring in limited edition products, which so far I have loved all of them. They have a variety of products for the entire body, from face to feet to body.

They even have a range for men, and the men I have spoken to have loved the products, so ladies spoil your men with something different.

Sh’Zen have stockists country-wide, and all their products, prices and special are available on their user-friendly website: www.shzen.co.za

Go check it out and see if these products are for you!

XoXo

Megs.
