Please Hold Onto Your Knickers, Mr Grey Will See You Now…

fifty-shades-greyAs much as I hate to admit, I have in fact read the 50 Shades of Grey series finally, yes, I know like all my lovely friends told me “about time” and all that nonsense, although I did it I suppose out of peer pressure? I really struggled to read the books and was simply bored with the language. I know a lot of people, men and women alike were so into it and it was the best thing since sliced bread. I actually don’t have a problem with poor literature as long as it gets people to stop watching TV and start to do some reading. ANYWAY, that aside…. I raised an eyebrow however when I saw all the same people frantically sharing the official trailer which has been released for next year February 14th, Valentines Day.

I must say that the way it is portrayed in the trailer makes me slightly more interested in it than the books and I will eventually watch the movie but I promise you I won’t be running to the cinema on Valentines Day to watch this. I can think of better things to do, like wash my hair or sleep.

But, even if you are one of those people who will be running to the cinema please people calm down, pull yourself together because at the end of the day its only a movie of a very poorly written story so please don’t get your hopes up that it will be any better. If you want good stories there are plenty out there but I do not necessarily think this is the one we should all be going googly eyed over.

Fifty Shades of Dismay

Hiya Poutlings

In case we hadn’t noticed, Hermione Granger, *ahem* I mean Emma Watson is all grown up.

Emma in Vanity Fair promoting The Perks of Being A Wallflower

After a couple of months of rumours that she’s been ALREADY been cast in the movie of Fifty Shades of Grey, it turns out that she is still mulling over swapping her broom-stick for a leather paddle and her school tie for a whole wardrobe full of different grey silk ties to play the irritatating virgin-turned-submissive, Anastatasia Steele.

But hold on your wizard hats as Emma, who is now 22 years old hasn’t had the displeasure or pleasure (depends on who you are and what your stand on well written literature is…) of reading the book so possibly she thinks it’s about some painter lacking inspiration when it comes to his colour palette.

“The thing is I haven’t read any of the books because I haven’t read a script so it’s quite difficult to know what I’m turning down potentially but I hear it’s quite raunchy.

I mean if there’s interesting character development and there’s an interesting story then I would consider it – but I haven’t been offered anything.”

This made me laugh, because in her role in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower she says she found it difficult watching the kissing scenes back.

“It’s really funny because when I watch the film back, there are a few things I can’t watch. I cant’t watch the kissing scenes”

-said the potential-50-shades-submissive-actress…

“I told the director [Stephen Chbosky] that I ahve just come from plaing Hermione Granger and you are expecting me to dance and poutting me in corsets, and it’s difficult.”

I’m not sure how she is going to take being spanked and locked up in the play room while whomever is cast as the male lead, (Robert Pattison probably) plays the piano naked with his eyes closed then….

Do you see her being able to pull such a roll off? I’m not sure. I think she could do it, but I don’t think she will…

50 Shades of Grey: What’s All the Fuss About?

Hello my darling Pouters!

If you’re anything like me, you hear stories here and there about the latest book that’s being released, but unless there’s a massive outbreak of new fans and every second person is talking about it, you don’t really give any notice.

Well, this new book series called Fifty Shades, the first being Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James (The second is Fifty Shades Darker, and the final one Fifty Shades Freed) , seems to be one of those books and according to (my favourite source) Wikipedia, it “topped best-seller lists in the United Kingdom, United States, and around the world. The series has sold around 20 million copies worldwide, with book rights having been sold in 37 countries, and set the record as the fastest-selling paperback of all time, surpassing the Harry Potter series. Critical reception of the novel has been mixed.”

Soooo forgive me for not blogging about it sooner, because apparently, I missed an epidemic and I haven’t even read the book yet. Sorry.

I would love to though, it sounds interesting.

The book’s focus on a billionaire named Christian Grey, who becomes romantically involved with a sexually inexperienced young woman named Anastasia Steele and asks her to become his “submissive,” or sex slave. She’s at first quite disturbed by the whole BDSM thing, but then slowly gets into it and also finds out that Christian was abused as a child, which is why he likes it so much (how stereotypical of you E L James).

Anyway, would you  buy the book and have you read it yet?

I’d probably just borrow it from someone since I’m not a big reader myself.

Have an awesome Thursday Pouters!

♥Marinda Liza♥
