Easihair Pro

I was luckily enough to be invited to the pink media launch of easihair pro hair extensions at the beginning of the month.

Before the event, my knowledge stretched as far as: Hair extensions –

  1. are either clip-ins, bonded or taped to your natural hair.
  2. are expensive.
  3. are incredibly high maintenance.
  4. take ages to be applied.
  5. are not very good at staying in and random pieces end up falling onto the ground at inconvenient times.
  6. start to look a bit washed and worn out after a few weeks of wear.
  7. damage your hair when being removed.
  8. are not very easy to remove.
  9. apparently make you wish that you never bothered with having them put in, in the first place.

So, as you can see from above, I had VERY little experience and knowledge when it comes to hair extensions, until I met Garron Reynolds the managing director of Fascination Wigs, FRIKA Hair Pty Ltd and the newly ‘launched’ to the SA market, easihair pro South Africa. Amongst the hair business, he certainly has some know-how.

easihair pro has already taken the overseas market by storm, as Garron put it, not all tape-in extensions are made equal. A lot of tape-in extensions which are already on the market have a bad reputation both with the hairstylist and consumer because although they apply well, they have a tendency to “slip” from the root of the hair. If I have to speak to any of my stylist friends they all despise hair extensions because of the above mentioned reasons and possibly why one of the reasons I have never ventured to extension avenue (apart from 2 blue clip-in extensions I had when I was 17 for about 2 days that I completely despised).

easihair pro was founded by Garron’s brother, Paul Reynolds who lives in the USA and the company still remains a family owned and operated business, with a no nonsense approach. This very approach has won over the hearts of salon owners along with the sheer quality, functionally and durability the extensions offer to both a salon, stylists and consumers alike.

Although I’m still pretty clueless about extensions, I learned the following about: easihair pro extensions –

  1. are tape-ins, with special technology to curb “slipping”.
  2. are pricy but affordable especially as they are reusable – so long as they are looked after correctly.
  3. are medium maintenance. I don’t believe they are the highest maintenance extensions available but if you don’t look after them, in turn, they will not look after you.
  4. are in investment, provided you look after them correctly.
  5. are quick and easy to have applied.
  6. are perfect for endurance of all kinds, exercise is nothing for these beauties .
  7. are quick, easy and effective to be removed.
  8. are perfect for commitment-phobes who can’t decide on long or short, high-lights or low-lights. Quick, simple and effective changes can make the difference to your hair.
  9. look natural. You really can’t tell the difference between your own hair and the extensions.
  10. are the easiest choice for the consumer and stylist when it comes to the demand for high quality hair extensions.

The entire event which was held at Scar in Kloof Street had a wonderful dash of pink, in honour of October being breast cancer awareness month. Featuring pink drinks to pink snacks and it finished off in style with the guests leaving with a dash of pink hair courtesy of easi-pro. For someone, like myself who has never coloured their hair, that was quite a moment and all the better that in order for me to get my 2 dashes of pink – I didn’t need to peroxide my hair first…  I have been sporting my pink hair with pride for the whole month and absolutely loving it! The stylist, Leandi from Scar, who applied my strand split it into two, so I have a pink strand on each side. Quite far underneath my hair so its not in your face but rather subtle and shows a pop of colour when my hair is loose.

We were showcased the absolutely breathtakingly beautiful ghd V coral styler which is a limited edition model of the bird of paradise collection. The colours are tropical, bright and happy. This beauty is on sale until 31 October and retails for R2,380. The reason why this beautiful straightener is so special is that all proceeds of this ghd are donated to CANSA. Morgan Taylor nails also treated us to a wonderful shade of Pink, called Let’s Go to the Hop.

I am still unsure whether I, personally will try the extensions realm but I do know for sure that if I decide to try them, my only option would be easihair pro.

The GLAMOUR GLOSS GIRLS – SA’s MOBILE GLAMOUR PROFESSIONALS

Good morning pouters!

I am here to tell you about a fabulous new trend in South Africa. It’s a mobile styling team! They’re the first of it kind in South Africa and they’re taking the industry by storm with their very much unique concept.

We were lucky enough to interview the founder of the GLAMOUR GLOSS GIRLS, JUSTINE ISAACSON.

Justine working her magic on a bride.

1) Looking at your concept, I’m sure many beauticians wished they had come up with the idea first. How do you feel knowing that you are “the first of its kind” especially in something so awesomely different?

I’m sure someone has thought about this concept but just not implemented it like we have..it’s exciting to know there’s scope for something fun and fresh in the beauty industry and I’m sure there is loads more to come!

2) Was it easy getting others to believe in your dream?

Once people had experienced us at events, they loved the idea and so word of mouth has got us moving. It was hard to sell a new idea without actually seeing the service for yourself and of course making sure our beauticians and artists were top quality 🙂

3) What are the most popular functions the Glamour Gloss Girls get asked to be part of?

We have been fortunate enough to have our artists and beauty bar at the launch of Topshop nationwide. That was truely incredible. We also had nail art in store for Women’s Day, Brutal Fruit glambassidor event nationwide and our personal shoppers/stylists inside Forever New stores styling ladies to name a few of our top events and we have such exciting glam events coming up for summer 🙂

4) Where are you based?

I am based in Johannesburg but we have artists and stylists nationwide.

6) Are you planning on franchising Glamour Gloss Girls around South Africa?

One day … 🙂

7) What would you like our readers to know about you Justine Isaacson and your Glamour Gloss Girls team?

We really are unique. What makes us different is that we take beauty and create an entertainment vibe making you and your guests feel like stars. The GGG team cater for any size event or function. We tailor- make the event to suite your needs. Our crew are all skilled and bubbly, ready to pamper and preen guests and make them leave looking and feeling better than when they arrived.

8) What do you see in the future of the Glamour Gloss Girls?

I think there is a huge amount of growth potential. I would like to have a great team of mobile artists and different mobile beauty bars glamming up SA! I can see us making that happen!

9) How many beauty ‘technicians’ are currently in your mobile team?

We have about 32 artists and stylists in our team

10) What tips can you give for brides-to-be?

Make sure you explain exactly what you want to your stylists and artist and have a trial. It’s important to know what look you want so there are no surprises on your big day! What I also suggest is having a trial on a day where you will be going out at night to see how the makeup lasts.

Be careful of spray tans I don’t reccomended them on your face. Make sure you have a translucent powder on the day you can touch up with, it will take the shine away and keep the make up set all day 🙂

11) Can you please tell us what your top 5 beauty DO’s are? And of course, the top 5 DON’Ts?

· Don’t use a liner that’s darker than the lipstick we all know you have lips you don’t need to line them like that!
· Don’t wear foundation that is too dark for your skin tone, rather bronze over but this will look awful!
· I believe less is always more!
· Eyebrows should always be well threaded..I’m a big fan of threading.
· I love hair extensions ( as I have fine hair) provided they are done well! If it’s going to give you the body you need in your hair grea;!just make sure you going to someone reputable.
· Keep a little touch up kit in your bag with a little tester perfume,a nail file, eyeliner, concealer and nice lipgloss you never know where youl land up 🙂
· For a flawless skin, make sure to always clean your face properly with the right product for your skin type.Cleanser and moisturizer daily and the occasional mask will help give you the most radiant look for summer.
· Don’t underestimate how important posture is!
· There’s nothing more attractive to a man than a confident, well- presented women so let’s strut our stuff ladies!!

12) Can you mention some of the products you use?

For nails, unless we are doing an event where they have their own brand,we use Tip Top – they have an incredible range of good quality colours!
Make up : we have MAC,Stila,NARS, Kryolon and a few other professional brands only.
Massage: we have amazing oils, some direct from Thailand
Hair: we only style hair for events so no products really

13) As you get to meet many different people, how would you describe South African style?

I think South Africans are definitely more conservative than Europeans but we are steering more away from that and becoming more unique in our own style; bringing in our culture diversities and becoming more expressive in our dress sense and style.

14) What do the women of South Africa want regarding beauty?

They want quality more than anything! Women in SA want the same selection as overseas and want to look and feel beautiful with the best service possible.

15) If any professional wants to be part of your amazing team, how can they go about it?

They can email us at info@theglamourglossgirls.com with their cv. I am always looking for talented bubbly artists to join our team.

Thank you and we look forward to pampering you soon!

Snooki’s Blonde Ambition!

Jersey Shore’s Pregnant Fairy Gets A Makeover!

Jersey Shore’s Snooki revealed earlier this week that she is not about to switch to flat comfortable shoes, despite being several months pregnant.

The 24 year old has made her pregnancy look even more glamorous by investing in some long hair extensions. She had curly long blonde pieces placed into the back of her black bonnet,  taking her tresses to a significantly longer length.

Snooki was positively blooming as she got her tresses attended to at a New York salon.

The New Jersey lady tweeted her joy at her new look: “My new Barrie hair extensions ❤ rawr”

She was getting her make over at Gemini 14 salon in New York and was wearing a sexy leopard print blouse which showed a pink bra underneath.

To me Snooki is looking fabulously beautiful and stylish, especially while being pregnant. Loving the animal print.

XoXo
Megs :*
