Hair Happiness Comes in a Bottle & it Shimmers!

A while ago, I shared on my Instagram the brand new Kevin Murphy product I got… which I was so excited about.

Since taking this sparkling baby home, who is named SHIMMER.SHINE, every day I have used this product on my hair once it has been washed. Generally I use my SHIMMER.SHINE after some basic blow drying or the occasional time I do style my hair but over the festive period, like normal I washed my hair, brushed it out and then sprayed a bit of the Shimmer Shine on to my hair and left it to dry naturally.

SHIMMER SHINELet me tell you since using this, I feel somewhat obsessed with the beautiful gold spray on my dressing table because my hair feels 100% better in every aspect- it has never felt healthier. My hair feels repaired, looks more shiny, feels healthy and feels stronger.  I did learn every quickly that you need a minimal amount of sprays to your hair, especially around the scalp area as it can make your hair look oily if you go over the top. I normally spritz a light spray over my scalp and 3 sprays to the rest of my hair, which I separate to 2 parts around the sides and one on the back. If I apply it to wet hair which I am going to leave to dry naturally I brush my hair through, however when applied to styled hair I just work my fingers through my hair and leave it to sparkle.

Directions for use are simple, you need to twirl the bottle and awake the sparkle which lies at the bottom. No shaking is required, only twirling. Then go on and spritz as required. Hair and body. Make that sparkling personality shine right through.

The SHIMMER.SHINE contains lots of antioxidants to protect your hair from environmental factors especially excessive sunshine and harsh salt water and its moisturising properties help restore a natural balance to your hair and it is ALSO a lovely spritzer over your entire body to get a hint of a sparkle on your skin while I believe it can almost double as a day-time perfume. If you do not adorn your body in it, the smell lasts on your hair and everyone askes why your hair smells so good…. just saying.

The product is safe to use pre or post styling and leaves a hint of added shine. Side note, my hair stylist said this is apparently what J. Lo uses on her bottom to make it have that “shine” in photo shoots. Take it or leave it. That may or may not have been the deciding factor for me in actually getting a bottle of my own. Anyway, YOLO and absolutely zero purchase regret here.

I think SHIMMER.SHINE retails for around R350 at my salon- contact your nearest hair salon that stocks the wonderful Kevin Murphy to be sure.

I seriously love this product and I think everyone else will too.

Invisibobble Magic

Is it possible to love something as simple as a hair bobble? You know the hair bobble you use to rake your locks up so you can do things without your hair getting in the way? Cook, wash your face, garden, clean and sleep? Yeah, I always battled to get a hair bobble or elastic that didn’t pull at my hair. The ones that I did find never really lasted very long.

After reading countless press releases about the Invisibobble I saw them at my hairdressers and had to ask my dear hair stylist “What’s up with these things – do they work?”, he didn’t respond, he opened the last little box that he had, which was bright red (wouldn’t be my first choice but they do come in all sorts of colours) has 3 hair rings in them in and said “Here, try for yourself”.

Well, oh my goodness, I never ever thought something that looks so weird could really hold your hair up for hours without eventually working its way out on its own accord. It’s magic but not because its “INVIS” like the name suggests, its magic because it doesn’t pull, it doesn’t slide out – even when you sleep!

For R80, which at the time of buying them I secretly thought to myself that I have rocks in my head, I have been using one and only one (I still have two left over in the mini box that they came with) invisibobble and it has stretched ever so slightly, but enough so I can just wrap it over my hair once more than before. I am a bugger for wanting to tie my hair up after getting showered when it is still wet and when I use an invisibobble as apposed to an ordinary hair elastic the invisibobble leaves no visible marks even if my hair dries naturally while being tied up.

It’s a no brainer for me. I will battle to try and live life to the fullest without an Invisibobble close by.  If you have long hair look no further, these things are magic and we should all have one!!
