The Beautiful, Dreamy $83 Million Diamond Ring

Jennifer Lopez's $2.5 million sparkler

Jennifer Lopez’s $2.5 million sparkler

Pink diamonds earned their right in the spot light when Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck got engaged, Jen paraded around with a gorgeous 6.1 carat pink diamond on her finger and when they split up it broke my heart that we wouldn’t be seeing that beautiful rock on her finger anymore. Well,  that specific diamond can stay wherever it may be, there’s a much bigger, much more spectacular  pink diamond about town that will put Jennifer Lopez’s predecessor to shame.

A gigantic pink diamond which measures 2.69gm by 2.06cm and is set on a ring, named the Pink Star has been sold to Isaac Wolf, who is a New York diamond cutter who has fondly called it the Pink Dream. How ironic, that is all it will ever be to us mere mortals, a dream.Pink Star/ Pink Dream Diamond

This auction bid for the diamond is huge compared the $46 million paid for the Graff pink diamond which was auctioned three years ago, which until now was the highest record bid for a diamond and it was also half the size of the Pink Star/ Pink Dream. The total amount of $83 million includes the auction house, Sotheby’s commission (which I’m sure they will be laughing all the way to the bank with).

The Pink Star was mined by De Beers in Africa in 1999 but it did not specify from which specific country. All that is clear is the diamond and that it is rare and worth approximately R830,000,000 {Eight hundred and thirty million ZAR}! It has taken many years to cut and polish the diamond which is 132.5 carat in rough state.

So, who wants one?

Red Square have gone Digital

Hiya Poutlings <33

Red Square – famously part of the Edgars group has finally launched an online store where you can get some of your favourite beauty and perfume brands online! They have also stated that they will offer a “free” sampling programme, simply put that when you order online you can choose three sample items to try, at no additional cost. It sounds very Rubybox-esque but it sounds good to me.

Red Square have also taken into account that we, beauty bloggers as a whole are quite loud and proud about our purchases and that we want to share our product experience and knowledge with people on the web, be it via social media, blogging or review sites, and have catered for this on their website providing the opportunity for the consumers to post comments, make recommendations or even give advice about the products on offer in order to strive for consumers to make more informed choices….

The goodies you buy from Red Square can also be gift wrapped with a personalised message on the card…. this sounds like it could be an absolute save for last minute birthday or anniversary presents for the men out there 😉 Look out for perfume-presents, ladies!

Orders over R350 have free delivery, any order under that amount would be subject to an additional R45 on your purchase price. Payments can be made via credit card, or any Edgars or Jet account. HELLO 6 MONTHS INTEREST FREE CREDIT.

I’m really loving the fact that they have finally launched in the correct direction, local South African online stores will most definitely soar over the next few years but I am suprised that they did not think to do this previously…. The website on a whole, is a bit boring for a company with such an established brand however it is still early days and they may actually liven it up a bit.

It however amazing that we can now shop these amazing brands online without having to pay for parking. The brands on offer include (the links are to our previous articles on the brand/person): Antonio Banderas, Avril Lavigne, Azzaro, Beautique, Britney Spears, Burberry, Bvlgari, Cacharel, Calvin Klein, Carolina Herrera, Chloe, Christina Aguilera, CK One Color, Clarins, Davidoff, Diesel, Dolce & Gabana, Dunhill, Elie Saab, Elizabeth Arden, Elizabeth Taylor, Escada, Estee Lauder, Ferrari, Filorga, Giorgio Armani, Gosh, Gucci, Hugo Boss, I Love…, Imedeen, Issey Miyake, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Choo, Joop!, Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, L’Oreal Paris, Lacoste, Lancome, Lanvin, Madonna, Marc Jacobs, Montblanc, Nails Inc., Narciso Rodriguez, Nine West, Paco Rabanne, Placecol, Puma, Quorum, Ralph Lauren, Revlon, Rihanna, Roberto Cavalli, Shakira, Swarovski, Taylor Swift, Ted Lapidus, Thierry Mugler, Trind, Usher, Valentino, Van Cleef & Arpels, Versace, Viktor & Rolf and last but not least Yves Saint Laurent.

I’ll be sure to let you know about any of my purchase experiences from Red Square and how the service is versus the service in the actual shops! Last time I visited Johannesburg, I had superb service at the Sandton City store!

Are you going to check out Red Square online?

Be sure to let me know your experiences, if they are before mine!

P.S. Be sure to check whether or not your chosen brand is cruelty free or not as I do note that some of the above mentioned companies are in fact still not cruelty free!!!

Pout Perfection’s New Year Resolutions for our Favourite Celebrities…

Bonjourno Pouters!

It’s about that time of the year when people start reflecting back on the year — the good, the bad, the ugly. We usually take those moments of greatness and not-so-greatness and try to learn and grow from them by making New Year’s resolutions. Now, we all know how hard it is to actually stick with a resolution set, like, January 2nd, but I feel that celebrities have a better chance of sticking to their guns with the help of personal assistants, trainers, chefs, life coaches, etc.  With this notion, I can’t help but wonder what Lindsay Lohan and J.Lo are planning to change or work on in 2012. (Maybe going away? That’d be nice.)   So I’ve compiled a list of 10 celebrities and their imaginary (but likely) answers to the simple question, “Hey you, what’s your New Years Resolution for 2012?”.

Ashton Kutcher

“My resolution is to get Demi back…by tweeting how how sorry I am. I’m an expert at apology tweets.”

The Cast of Jersey Shore

“Yo! We resolve to drop off the face of the Earth and let Jersey go back to normal.”

Kristin Stewart

“My resolution is to try not to be so insanely socially awkward.”

Lindsay Lohan

“My resolution is to get my comeback started by doing Dancing With the Stars!”

“Our resolution is to adopt six more kids. The more the merrier!”

Kim Kardashian

“My resolution is hit at least 500 red carpet events and reclaim my title as Most Googled Woman. Oh, and also to work things out between me and my husband. Just kidding! But that would make pretty great TV right?”

Alec Baldwin

“My resolution is to host SNL for the 837th time!”

Katie Holmes

“My resolution is to get Suri to stop jumping on her bed and our couches. I have no idea where she gets this from.”

Ryan Gosling

“My resolution is to try not to be such a perfectionist…but let’s be real, I’m pretty much perfect.”

Jennifer Lopez

“My New Year’s resolution is to find a new hubby! Fourth time’s a charm, right?”

In all seriousness, do you believe in resolutions if so – what’s yours?

Happy New Year from the POUTPERFECTION team, party hard but also be safe!!

The Best of the Best : Plus Size Lingerie Models

Howdy Pouters!

Plus-size lingerie models are not uncommon in the industry these days. More and more faces and curves grace fashion magazines carrying a message that it is OK not to be size 0 or 2 to be beautiful, sexy and feminine.

Plus-size models are taking fashion industry step by step appearing in famous fashion magazines, posing in designer clothes and lingerie. Lingerie models on the curvier side are also becoming popular. This might be due to the popularity of such celebs as J Lo and Kim Kardashian who are being celebrated for their realistic curves, the comeback of retro style in Mad Men or the fact that the people are getting bigger in size.

I would like to introduce you to some of my favourite international plus size models!

Tara Lynn is an American plus size model who modeled Plie shapewear and H&M’s Big is Beautiful clothing and swimwear collection. Tata has also posed for V Magazine and Vogue Italia with her fellow models as well as appeared on the cover of French Elle. She has green eyes and brown hair as well as a degree in languages. She speaks French and Arabic fluently and knows a little Spanish. She eats organic food and loves listening to live music.

“As a 16 year old, I definitely felt like my weight was holding me back. I was supposed to have these bones protruding from my body and clearly that’s not the case, and not the way my body’s meant to be.” – Tara Lynn.

Ashley Graham is another American plus-size beauty who is known for modeling Lane Bryant’s Cacique lingerie appearing in an infamous commercial for the brand that has been banned from TV. She has also appeared in Vogue magazine and modeled Elomi’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection. When she’s not modeling Ashley loves doing community and social work.

She might be fluctuating from plus-size to normal but Crystal Renn has worked as a plus-size model for a few years to become known as curvy while gracing the covers of fashion glossy magazines, and releasing a book called Hungry: A Young Model’s Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves. Such models as Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley thank Crystal for opening the door into fashion industry for them. Even though there were plenty of plus-size model pioneers before Crystal the impact of her work has definitely contributed for bringing  plus-size models in Vogue.

Candice Huffine is one of the Vogue Italia cover girls. She has also appeared in V Magazine alongside Marquita Pring, Tara Lynn and Michelle Olson. She has also modeled lingerie for Bloomingdales and appeared in Yo Dona Magazine along with Inga Eiriksdottir.

Who’s your favourite??

You are all beautiful! *missfitzzz

[edit 9am 22 December]

Hi Pouters!

My greatest apologies that this post, lost the information I published it yesterday!

Anyway… back to business!

Do you own a padded bra?

I certainly do, in fact all my bras are padded, included my bikinis… family curse – small boobies!

Or are you “gifted” in the boobies area? And wish to enhance other ASS-ets?

Well, maybe boobies aren’t your problem, do you have a “flat” ass? Do you wish your backside would be more like J-Lo or Kim Kardashian? Well if that is the case… I introduce you to…

I initally thought when seeing this, some men need them as a lot of men have “flat” bums – however I wasn’t being serious when I said that.

However, someone heard my thoughts and thought I was!

Fear not gentlemen!

So, Pouters, will you be sporting these new “jocks”?? I won’t, I’ve got a rather large ass and I don’t want it to look any bigger!

off to the bush I go 🙂
