Penelope Cruz Kisses Superstition Goodbye for the Campari 2013 Calender

Have you ever spilt some salt? Walked under a ladder?

In the highly anticipated 2013 Campari Calendar themed “KISS SUPERSTITION GOODBYE”, Penelope Cruz tackles these nerve-racking accidents and comes out shining on the other side with a cocktail in hand.

Now in its 14th edition, the 2013 Campari Calendar was unveiled in Milan last week and features a series of photos of the Oscar winning actress taking on some classic superstitions, such as opening an umbrella indoors, spilling salt, walking under a ladder and breaking a mirror.

The calendar has been shot by renowned fashion photographer Kristian Schuller, styled by Christina Ehrlich and in dramatic red dresses from Monique Lhullier and Salvatore Ferragamo and Chopard Jewellery.

Penelope joins some of the world’s most stunning women who have graced the pages of the Campari Calendar including Milla Jonvich, Salma Hayek, Eva Mendes and Jessica Alba. With only 9,999 copies of the calendar printed it will be distributed exclusively to friends of Campari internationally.

is it just me or do these once stressful superstitions seem less terrifying and more attractive?

Do You Dare? : Ombre Hair

Miley Cyrus has done it. Gwyneth Paltrow too. Rachel Bilson, and Demi Lovato too. What am I talking about? Ombre hair.

Everything “ombre” is “in” at that moment. Nails, stockings, hair.

I am not sure what to make of this trend, on some people it just looks to me like they’ve missed one too many trips to salon, whereas some people just make me love the look. I feel ambivalent: when it is done right it can look natural and sun kissed but it can also go very very wrong if the lighter colour at the bottom goes brassy.

Here are a few stars who have done the ombre hair trend-thing.

DREW BARRYMORE

RACHEL BILSON

JESSICA ALBA

LEIGHTON MEESTER

SARAH JESSICA PARKER

CAMERON DIAS

LAUREN CONRAD

What is your verdict??

 Who rocks ombre the best?

NSFW : “Leaked” Nekkid Pictures…

Heya Pouters

Disclaimer: NSFW stands for NOT SAFE FOR WORK. You have been warned.

I have tried to make these pictures as user-friendly to all viewers as possible, however there may be some that are still offended by them. I take no responsibility for this, if you don’t want to read about it, DON’T.

You know whenever feeling like a massive whore and you take tons of nekkid pictures of yourself and send them to tons of guys you only really sorta know? After which those said guys happen to have these pictures leaked on the internet… Yeah, you know what I’m talking about, right?

Well, that has happened to Snooki and Hayley Williams (kinda, she just sent it to the world) and Cassie Ventura and Rihanna and Jessica Alba and Miley Cyrus and Leighton Meester and Vanessa Hudgens and Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively and Ashleigh Greene, and millions of other celebrities and millions of other ordinary woman.

So, back to Snooki, are you suprised? I’m not. I’ve only seen a whole TWO episodes of Jersey Shore and well I’m simply suprised it hasn’t happened sooner!!

Her rep confirmed to US Weekly that the images obtained by sites like Egotastic and The Daily Mail in which Snooki is wearing some sort of bath gown left open to show off her body are indeed of the pre pregnancy Nicole Polizzi.

“Clearly these are old and personal photos that were not meant for the public, it’s a shame someone decided to leak them for obvious personal gain.”

So now, all of Snooki’s family and friends and her unborn kid and her kid’s friends will be able to see these forever, so I guess this is a proud moment for her. I didn’t add the rest because to reiterate, it’s Snooki nekkid. Use Google if you are THAT interested. I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.

In news of other “leaked” pictures here is my list of WTF. That “W” is not what, simply  WHY THE FECK?

Drumroll please…

 HAYLEY WILLIAMS

Hayley Williams is the lead singer of the band Paramore. I like their music, and I must point this out that I really do like her style apart from this instance. She “accidently” posted the above picture on Twitter. My one question… How do you accidently post a picture of you with your tits hanging out? I don’t get it. What a tit… no pun intended. Ha ha.

CASSIE VENTURA

Cassie Ventura is a singer, and an actress. She is signed to P Diddy’s “Bad Boy” record label and starred in Step Up 2: The Streets… Although to me, looks like her ultimate career move would be to become a pornstar.

RIHANNA

I know that Rihanna is a troubled young woman with too much fame to fathom however her leaked pictures from Chris Brown’s collection after they broke up just cannot be blocked out to be safe for Pout Perfection, so I leave you with a picture of here smiling innocently. They are bad. That’s all.

JESSICA ALBA

Jessica Alba was the most sought after woman for years in Hollywood she was also known for years because she refused to expose any nekkid bits, which I have always commended her for… There is a big pressure for one to show more and more skin nowadays in the industry. She unfortunately let some pink bits slip out and then that picture got leaked… Poor Jessica Alba, we still ♥ you at Pout Perfection.

 LEIGHTON MEESTER

Leighton Meester is one of the lead actresses from the series Gossip Girl. She also got nailed by some dude and had a sex tape, which she managed to somehow not let it be released. However, image stills from the said sex tape are wadering around on the internet. Sounds like something from the plot of Gossip Girl. xoxo.

MILEY CYRUS

Miley Cyrus may be one of the most forgotton celebrities with leaked photos scandals, so, I had to include her on this list, I’ve included her on this list. There has been more than one instance of leaked photos from little Miley, and many speculations that is it infact her in the pictures. These have been proved to be her. Silly old Miley, its not like you’re famous or anything… and no, we cannot say that your alter ego Hannah Montanna made you do it!

VANESSA HUDGENS

Vanessa HudgensHigh School Musical star, eish wena. She’s had 2 sets of leaked nekkid pictures on the internet and luckily for her she had a group of massive lawyers to remove the pictures as quickly as possible, unfortunately, once the pictures are on the internet, they are there forever and ever.  I must point out, whatever skirt/scarf thing she is wearing around her waist is pretty, but I’m not a big fan of BOOBIES in your face, so maybe next time she should try cover up some more…

SCARLETT JOHANSSON

WHOOPS! Scarlett you shouldn’t be showing your face if you don’t want to be recognised…. publicity stunt maybe? Which she later came out saying it was private, blah blah blah, we’ve heard it a million times, we will be sure to hear it again again from many other people.

BLAKE LIVELY

Blake Lively is well known also from Gossip Girl but has been in multiple movies throughout the years, including the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. This picture must of been part of that movie because her pants are missing, oh wait, so is the top half of her clothing. I’m amazed in one shot she managed to get full frontal nudity going on as well as a full shot of her nekkid behind. That must of took some skill.

ASHLEIGH GREENE

Ashleigh Greene is most well known for her acting in the Twilight series, also more recently she has been in headlines for dating Joe Jonas and making his ex-girlfriend Disney Star, Demi Lovato go somewhat insane before comitting herself to a mental hospital. Her leaked images are OUT there, and this is the most least-risque one I could find so not scar any of you.

Look, you should know by now if you are a celebrity DON’T DO THIS. If you are an ordinary woman OR man… again, I reiterate, DON’T DO THIS. Unless of course you dig the attention, then by all means do so but really, no one elses dignity is on the line apart from yours. Think about it, if you have children running around one day, don’t let their friends find nekkid pictures of their mother or father. It’s not cool. Your kid will be mocked and ridiculed, and you will too (maybe not to your face), if the person you send them to sends them out or whatever nonsense excuse they give you, their computer may get hacked, their cell phone may get stolen… if they want to see it and you are willing to show it: INVITE THEM OVER  AND SHOW THEM.

NO CAMERAS ALLOWED, and in that regard most certainly NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY.

That’s all for now folks

MAKEUP CLASS 3 – FACIAL SHAPES With Sandylash

And we’re back….

Right, so today we are talking facial shapes.

As a makeup artist, we have to assess our clients facial shape.  See what we have to shade and highlight.  We all have features on our face which we would like to camouflage and/or highlight.  For instance, I have an oblong face.  I basically look like a giraffe.  But I’m ok with it, God made them too.. hehe.. I use shading and highlighting techniques to enhance my features I like most, and hide the parts I don’t like so much.

There are 7 basic facial shapes.  Just remember, people are unique.  Sometimes one person can have ‘parts’ of different facial shapes all in one.  So don’t be worried if you can’t figure out which one you are at first.  You might be a special combo!

1)  SQUARE

The forehead and jaw are generally the same width with the sides being quite angular.

Shade the ‘corners’ of the face with a darker shade of foundation/blusher/bronzer

Arch the eyebrows

Lighten the centre of the forehead and chin.  This centers the eye towards the middle of your face instead of paying too much attention on your “harsh” corners.

2)  ROUND

The round face has signs of full cheeks, rounded jaw and often a round hairline.

Shade the sides of the forehead, temples and the sides of the face with a darker foundation/blusher/bronzer.

Lighten the “apples” of the cheeks, but be sure to avoid the shaded section when applying the blusher on the apples.

Place the blusher in a triangle on the cheeks to level out the eyes.

Arch the eyebrows, and shorten their length.

3)  RECTANGULAR/OBLONG

Prominent features will be at the corners of the forehead and jaw line.

It’s pretty much a looooong version of the square face.

Shade around the hairline and the angles of the jaw.

Shade the chin if it’s the more prominent part or the forehead if it is larger.  If you’re me, both!

Place the blusher under the outer corners of the eyes and out to the hairline.

Shape fine long eyebrows.  This adds ‘sections’ to the face so it won’t be seen as one long surface.

4)  DIAMOND

The forehead and chin are narrow and the cheek bones are wide.

Shade the sides of the face with a darker foundation/blusher/bronzer.

Lighten the temples and angles of the jaw.

Arch the eyebrows.

5)  TRIANGULAR/ PEAR SHAPED FACE

The forehead is narrow and the jaw line is wider than the cheekbones.

Shade the full jaw line starting at the bottom of the ears where the chin begins.

Highlight the narrow sides of the forehead including the temples.

6)  HEART SHAPED

Also referred to as the inverted triangle.  The forehead is wide and the cheekbones are prominent.  The jaw and chin are narrow.

Shade across the wide sides of the forehead and the angles of the jaw.

Lighten the sides of the face and chin.

Place blusher low on the cheeks and sweep upwards.

Shape fine, long eyebrows and gently arch them.  Eyebrows shouldn’t have too much of an arch effect as the facial shape provides enough dimensions.

7)  OVAL

The classic, perfectly proportioned face is balanced both horizontally and vertically.  The shape is known as the cream of the crop.  The best of all facial shapes.  Aren’t’ you just lucky?

You don’t need to hide anything.  You’ve got the perfect face.

Just a little highlighting here and there and voila.  Babe of note!

APPLICATION DO’S AND DONT’S

Do’s:

  • Use clean sterilized brushes for applying contour cosmetics.
  • Apply powder with a soft, rounded brush.
  • Flat, square ended brushes often produce demarcation lines, which is difficult to blend in with the surrounding makeup.
  • Tap excess blusher off the brush onto a tissue before applying it to the face.
Dont’s
  • Touching your clients face too much during the makeup application.
  • Have a build up of the eye shadows, blushers, powders etc on your applicators.  This distorts the true color due to interference of old makeup on your brushes.
  • Leave your tray, lipsticks, brushes etc on your clients lap.
  • Allow her to hold her own makeup, e.g. mascara or brushes.
FACE POWDERS
This invisible veil gives and overall velvety soft appearance to the skin and helps prevent that shiny build up.  (Usually noticeable down the center T-zone area of the face)
A loose colourless powder with a fine translucent texture should be used for best results.
The colorless powder does not change the color of the foundation or blusher and can be used on any skin.
APPLICATION
Using a powder brush is the only effective method of powder application.
A puff holds too much powder to be effective and a cotton ball has the tendency to leave fine threads of fuss behind.
To apply, pick up a small amounts of powder each time.  Shake before brushing onto the face.
Starting at the forehead, brushing with light downward strokes over the face, covering the eyes and lips (optional).
Avoid powder build-up particularly in the eye area, as this will emphasize the tiny lines that form around the outer eye.
Too much powder will also exaggerate creepiness on more mature skin.  If the powder  is visible then too much has been applied or the skin has not been moisturized properly.
POWDER WHICH HAS BEEN APPLIED PROPERLY WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
Smooth finished soft look
Reduction of shine caused by sebum
It won’t look dull and lifeless
Always applied over foundation
Transparent
And not have a clogged appearance

WHY HIGHLIGHT AND SHADE???

Well, I’m sure some people wonder what the point of highlighting and shading is…
Well, a darker and more matte tone “hides” a surface.
A shiny surface gives off the appearance that an object is closer than it may be.
For instance, when you in a small room, you would paint it a light color to give off the effect of space.
If you have a high ceiling in a room, you will most likely paint the ceiling a darker shade to bring the room in, giving it a more cozy effect.
The principles of paint in interior decorating pretty much works the same when it comes to makeup.
Shine/highlighting – brings forward/makes it a more focal point.
Matte/shading – hides the space or can bring it in all together.

ULTIMATELY YOU’RE TRYING TO GIVE OFF THE ILLUSION OF AN OVAL FACE SHAPE.

So remember I told you in lesson 1 that this is what we were taught in makeup school and that I would add in my own opinion if  need be.  I agree with the corrective procedures, however practicing is key.  Finding your own makeup application style is what is important.  There are somethings you can’t change.  You can’t apply powder before foundation.  That would be silly, but some artists find it easier to first shade and highlight after foundation, yet before powder application.
Also you have to see which products you prefer using.  Some artists use foundations to highlight and shade, others use powders.  Some just use blushers.
Remember this: taking photos as you go along with a makeup application is important.  Look at the picture, that way you’ll see if the face is coming out too white on photo or too orange.  Remember eyeshadow color also usually looks different on photos taken with a flash.  It’s more complicated than what most people think.
Remember to always brush off excess powder you may have applied under the eyes to prevent eyeshadow “dusting/fall out” while you applied eyeshadow.
Hope this post helped in one way or another..
If you have any questions, pop an email.
(if I have forgotten anything, I apologize!  My eyes are tired and its late)
