A couple of months ago I was invited to the launch of the Ordinary Skincare Company for South African retailers after being an established and excellent brand overseas in the United Kingdom, the fact that the forelady is South African and uses South African ingredients, it only makes sense for the extra ordinary products be available on South African soil. The products being made locally in new facilities in Cape Town to pharmaceutical industry GMP standards. The mission from Aesthetic Medicine expert and the ever so passionate founder of the Ordinary Skincare Company, Dr. Claire Jamieson knew that issues surrounding sensitive skin and products made to help them were not delivering effective or long term results due to excessive ingredients which cause multiple reactions rather than results. With having personal experiences of her daughter suffering from long term eczema she was driven to find a solution to help and compiled a range using only the most natural ingredients and ensured that these were placed into ordinary crisp white hygienic, recycable packaging.
The plant oils and extracts used in the range are carefully selected in order to deliver effective results. Keeping to the core philosophy of Ordinary Skincare Company,, they use five African botanicals, being:
- Aloe Ferox
- Olive Oil
- Grapeseed Oil
- Shea Butter
- Green Rooibos Leaf Extract
All of the above products boast moisturising, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects when applied to the skin. This results in having skin being smooth, supple and healthy.
The range consists of two parts: Plain Ordinary and Extra Ordinary.
Plain Ordinary – Moisturising Balm – R329.00 online

It rapidly is absorbed by the skin and leaves a long lasting, smooth and silky feel to the skin. It can be used for, but not limited to:
- To keep your pout soft and kissable and avoiding dry chapped lips

For the past few months I’ve been testing and loving some new products from MUD (Make-Up Designory); which were sent to me for review purposes.
I am already familiar with the brand and have posted about them here: Cover Me in MUD.
I have been spoilt in using an eye shadow compact in Tinsel which is part of the recently launched Muse Collection launched by MUD AND A crème Lip and Cheek Colour. Here is a look I created using the two stunning MUD products + some BB cream, powder, gel liner, mascara and some brow gel.
Let’s talk about: Tinsel, Eye Shadow Compact (R199) from the Muse Collection (if bought together: R1,075).
As previously posted by myself, there really is not much can rival the intensity of colour of a MUD eye shadow, they blend perfectly and you can easily “build” them for a more intense colour which is one of the many reasons why they are so fantastic. By using just one shade you can easily build the colour to be darker in the outer corner of the eye and a light colour to be on the inner eye as pictured above. This is an easy, achievable take on a smoky eye in a few minutes using only one shade of eye shadow and one brush.
Let’s talk about: Crème Cheek Colour – R220
I have NEVER used a cream based blusher before, I have always been a lover of using powder based blushers… I have truly been converted and I will struggle to use anything else. The product has a slight stickiness to it, without being greasy which has probably been my biggest steer-away factor from other crème blushers. When applying it, one must use a very light handed approach as using a little, goes a long way. If you apply too much, it is easily blended away and doesn’t leave you looking like a rag doll. Unlike normal powder blushers that sometimes need reapplying after a few hours as they lose their colour and intensity, the crème stays on as long as you keep your makeup on. I find its better to be applied over foundation for perfect glowing colour which radiates from the face. Absolutely fantastic. Not my go-to choice for a lip colour but for a natural sheer finish it can pull together the face without having to carry tons of different products around.
If you are interested in trying some MUD for yourself, be sure to check their website for the closest store to you. Don’t forget to follow them on Twitter @MUDSouthAfrica and follow them on Facebook.
Disclaimer: These products were sent to me for review purposes. This in no way has altered my view of the products in anyway and I will happily be purchasing more MUD products in the future.
I probably won’t be doing a “What’s in NFNT’s bag post as I probably have the smallest bag with the most things in it lol
So instead I’ll do a Must Haves post.
I’ve recently developed a little addiction towards Catrice Cosmetics. I was first introduced to it by a friend who had a beautiful soft pink lippie that I thought would be gorgeous on brides.
I have quite a few of their products and love them as much as Lady Hellfire loves the Essence Cosmetics range. For those who didn’t know, Catrice is the sister product range of Essence.
So here’s my handbag must-have for today:
Catrice Eyebrow Set
This is a very cute little magic box. As you know we are quite pedantic about eyebrows and this should be our little secret. This cute little box folds open to reveal a tiny mirror and 2 eyebrow powder shades. They are perfect for filling in your brows whether you have dark or light brows and it looks very natural.
I love both the shades as the lighter one is perfect for slight touch ups and blondes.
The best thing about this cute little box? It has a hidden little drawer that holds a mini tweezers for those unruly brows and a little mini comb and brush so you always have it on hand when you need to quickly fix a brow or two.
So go forth little Poutlings, go get yourself some at your nearest Dischem for only R54.95
Lots of love
