Bottled Yoga… Bottled Bliss

So since this year I’ve embarked on my personal challenge of living a better healthier, happier life in every sense this has included in the regime something I am not very good at. Exercise. I am persisting and trying very hard but it still is begrudgingly because I have to and certainly not because I want to – side note: you gym bunnies/exercise gurus tire me out when I read about how excited you are to go and work out! Apart from walking frequently, along with some high intensity cardio training at home I have also been attempting to do some very basic DIY yoga at home. This yoga has also been a by-product of a bit of help and advice from my mother who has been doing yoga for more than 10 years when she is visiting teaching me. Needless to say I am horrible and can I just state for the record – its REALLY hard!

The fun fresh and energetic skincare brand Mio, meaning “for me” which has grown from the Mamma Mio Skincare brand which is specifically for pregnant ladies; have some wonderful products on the market for those of us who are not pregnant but who want the healthiest skin possible in order to face all the stresses that we put our skin through on a daily basis and Mio has spoilt me rotten by giving me their amazing Liquid Yoga bath soak to try out. This yoga in liquid form is far more refreshing and rewarding than me falling over in heap while trying to do yoga on a mat. MIO

Mio as a brand are all about skin that is fit; and that fit skin is healthy skin and Mio’s mission is to give you, the consumer, “Fit Skin for Life“.

First, confession time I have not bathed at home in over 2 years! I have had the odd bath at hotels because they look so lush but at home I’m a shower girl as its also 10 times easier to wash your hair and its quicker because, lets face it – who has time to actually bath anymore?

After quite a day on Tuesday and not having had slept properly in 3 nights I was absolutely shattered to say the least and after receiving this product on Friday after smelling it I had been dying to get myself into the bath and see what all the fuss was about. Oh my word – it was the most relaxing 30 – 45 minutes (I lost count) of my life, once I stepped out of the bath I was ready to go to bed and not speak to anyone for a good 10 hours or so and Eskom agreed as the power went out. Good timing Eskom!

Mio Liquid Yoga is far more pleasant than my every-other day attempt of none-bottled yoga which I would imagine to watch would be quite amusing to watch! MIO LIQUID YOGA

Liquid Yoga is simply a product which silently whispers serenity, peace and calm. It is bottled in a gorgeous solid glass bottle that contains 200ml of bath soak, using only one “glug” per bath or a cap full I would imagine you could easily get a minimum of 10 baths per bottle of liquid yoga. The product is a non-foaming which initially surprised me but upon reading more about Mio and their skin care philosophies they have a wonderful policy which they call the “No Nasties” which means that they are not only passionate about what ingredients that they put into their products but also what ingredients are left out; and that is something to help to sit back relax and enjoy the liquid yoga.

When soaking in the tub with the most ostentatious bath soak I’ve ever come across, I felt my stiff muscles relax especially my tense shoulders. The product has also managed to make my house smell absolutely divine for the past few days and I simply cannot wait to have another Liquid Yoga indulgence again. Thank you Mio!!!

The bottle advises: “Warning: Liquid Yoga may cause relaxation and happiness” but there is really no may about it. It does cause relaxation and happiness and it has totally converted me to bathing for relaxation. I think I might just be hooked.

Liquid Yoga is available at selected salons and retails for R550 for 200ml. Well worth the investment and perfect to wind down after a long week. Guess what I’m doing later! 😉

Service Review ~ Rubybox Vs Glambox

Hello Pretty pouters!

Hope you are all doing fantastically well!

So, in the past few months there has been a lot of talk on the net and in magazines about 2 services now offered in South Africa. Rubybox and Glambox. Basically what this service offers is a wonderful little treat for you.

For just the minimal price of R100 you receive a monthly box with a minimum of 4 to 5 products, some trial size and even sometimes a full size might slip into your special box.

So you subscribe to one of these services, you can pay via EFT or Credit card and once a month, like clockwork, you box of goodies is courierd to your doorstep.

So I have subscribed to both services and after about 3 months it is now my turn to give you ins and outs of this service.

So here we go! (Note I will mainly be focussing on the December boxes in this review)

You receive your box within the first week of every month. After opening the courier packaging, you get a matte black box with hot pink writing enveloped in organic packaging.

So as you handle the box, you hear your treats jiggle around inside, which makes you all the more excited (kindof) to just get it open and see what’s inside!

So call this an early christmas present to yourself, afterall, we all know we ladies deserve it and heck, why not put an evening aside during that month, to just relax, sit back and test all your luxury goodies that you received in your boxes?

Right, so when you open your Rubybox this what you find (not all of the December boxes had the same items in them, these are what was in mine though)

Ok first of all, the jiggling about of your treats, is because there is not protective form of cushioning for the products. Luckily in the past 3 months I have not yet received any damaged or broken products, but this should be a level of concern, as this month there was tiny glass jar in the box, which could get damaged should your parcel get squashed by some silly postman.

That aside, the December box from Rubybox contained the following products:

1. GHD Style Final Fix Hairspray – 75ml

2. Elizabeth Arden Intervene 3-in-1 Daily Cleanser Exfoliator Primer – 30ml

(Which you should know by now is my favourite new cleanser, as I received it in my October Rubybox, and now again, but I don’t mind cus now I have a travel one and I don’t have to travel with my full size one)

3. Diesel Loverdose Perfume Sample – 1,5ml

(Oh my this fragrance is just gorgeous!)

4. Africology Neroli Body Balm – 25ml

I absolutely love anything with Neroli oil.

5. A gift voucher for a Facial Analysis at Africology

They are however based in JHB so if you’re not close, you can’t really use the voucher.

All these products are well worth more than R100 (remeber to factor in what couriers cost these days) and considering I don’t have to drive to some crazy ass mall to go into shops and suffer from mall rage to get a few samples, this service is an absolute must if you want to try out products before buying full size ones.

Yes you might have heard Rubybox had some issues with their November deliveries, but every business has some growing pains. Also, a good big thumbs up for Ruby box to include eco-friendly packaging and working with a social upliftment program, Adonis Musati Project, to help pack the boxes.

I’m sure their teething problems will be ironed out soon and due time.

Right, so next up, Glambox

You receive your box within the third week of every month. Although the December boxes were delivered within the first week of December. Kudos for you Glambox for taking into account most Glam ladies will be going on holiday as of the 15th and won’t be at home to receive their boxes. After opening the courier packaging, you get a matte hot pink box. I love hot pink!

So as you handle the box, you hear nothing jiggling around inside, so you open the hot pink box, and revealed inside a very beautiful, glamorous shiny black Glambox. Immediately you feel a 100 times more special because so much care has been taken with the packaging.

So you open up the lovely shiny black box, and what do you find inside?

A little gift, your treats wrapped up with a lovely ribbon and the product explanation card. Unwind the ribbon, and open up the tissue paper and what do you find?

Your lovely treats are cushioned from damage with some black colored paper shreds, all neatly packed and waiting for your attention.

So the December Glambox consists of the following products:

1. Bourjoiss 1001 Lashes Black Quartz Mascara – Full Size

2. Cacharel Fragrance: Anais Anais – 1,5ml

Ah, Cacharel, one of my favourite fragrance companies, the once made a fragrance called Gloria, it was the most amazing ever, it lasted the whole day on your skin and was so clean and fresh and summer-ey.

3. Elancyl Stretch Mark Prevention Smooth Cream – 5ml

4. Suntra Nail Polish by Chic Cosmetics – full size

5. Mama Mio Boob tube ~ Bust & Neck Firmer- 3g

6. Pedi Relax Regenerative Cream – 50ml

It’s Summer girls! We don’t want no muffin tops in your high heels!

7. Toblerone Chocolate – 50g – YES! Every girl loves chocolate for Christmas!

All these products are well worth more than the R100 you pay for this service, and best of all, no driving around, no mall rage. Yes, I’m very mall rage prone, especially this time of the year… Hi-ho-hi-ho…

So far I have not had any hiccups with the Glambox service. (Although the product card indicates a sticker and an x-mas card in the box that wasn’t there, but seriously, it’ll just be petty to get upset about something like that, since I keep my boxes to store my hair stuff in)

I will review all product received as I use them, so that you know what to expect had your ordered your boxes, or if you wish to order a box or two in the near future.

If however you wish to subscribe for any one of these services, or both to test the waters yourself, go to

Have a pouty perfect day!
