Movie Nights Just Got a Whole Lot Better

When was the last time that you went to the movies?  Its something that I’ve stopped doing because le boyfriend and I have an amazing television system at home and we can watch 3D movies if we wish. Sure we miss the latest releases until they are available on DVD but we still watch them – eventually. Going to movies was a huge part of the initial dating scene for us and we watched a lot of movies at the cinemas. We talk a lot about going to the IMAX cinemas when we were kids and always said that we would go to the movies if we could watch an IMAX movie. Well, good news for us because Ster Kinekor is launching a new IMAX cinema at Cape Gate on in December. This is following the successful launches of the IMAX theatres in Gateway in Durban and The Grove Mall in Pretoria. BRND_IMAX_CMYK_DPI300

Fiaz Mohomed, CEO of Ster-Kinekor Theatres explained,

Following the successful openings of our first two IMAX theatres at Gateway and The Grove, and their ongoing performance since then, we have been assessing a variety of sites for the next IMAX theatre. It was always our plan to open an IMAX cinema in Cape Town, and CapeGate was selected as the most feasible venue to accommodate the complex conversion. We believe this new cinema will prove as popular with local cinema audiences as our other two theatres.

The public opening of the Cape Gate IMAX is on 11 December will feature a pre-release screening of the last of the Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. Tickets for an IMAX experience will be R99 each and the new breath taking cinema experiences will be made not-to-be-missed. Other exciting blockbuster titles to look out for launching on IMAX in the next few months – Exodus: Gods and Kings and Taken 3. A lot of things to look forward to over the upcoming holiday season and an IMAX experience to mix-up the date night routine is a fresh fun holiday date vibe this season! The Hobbit

Jennifer Aniston in a Whole New Light

Hiya Poutlings!

Jennifer Aniston strips down to her bra and knickers in the trailer for her upcoming film “We’re the Millers”…. didn’t we already see her bare backside in “The Break Up?”… so much for that girl next door image she generally always portrays in films.

jennifer aniston

This role shows Jennifer in a new light as she swears her way through the scenes and does a strip tease! Anyway, on an unrelated note: I can’t look at Jennifer Aniston without thinking of her as Rachel, but for being 44 years of age, she has a BANGING body. Wow. Props to her.

Without further ado, here is the trailer..

…but in case you can’t watch it – Jennifer plays a stripper who is hired along with 2 kids to help with a drug delivery of marijuana over the US/Mexico border. The trailer also features Jason Sudeikis, right at home with his comedic timing and raunchy laughs, Emma Roberts isn’t someone who I think of as a comedy star, but she doesn’t have enough screen time in the trailer to convince you otherwise.

This looks like it couldn’t be an okay film to watch… I’ll definitely watch it and be sure to let you know once it’s out.

Dakota Fanning Wears Chanel & Couture Cat Ears

In my mind, it is crazy that Dakota Fanning is only 18 years old; the girl has been around for what seems to be like forever. The Fannings obviously don’t waste any time getting into the family business, but what I like about Dakota and her sister Elle is that they both seem incredibly smart and well-adjusted for the amount of fame they have both experienced at such young ages. I don’t forsee any Lohan-ing either in their futures… oh and let’s not forget to mention that they are both FASHION WONDERKIDS who are lucky enough to be outfitted by some of the most revered designers out there.

It’s very rare that an average 18 year old can wear Chanel and look at once totally arresting and also completely age appropriate, but I suppose if anyone’s going to be able to pull it off, it’s Dakota.

Dakota has covered the December issue of InStyle UK to promote her role as creepy Jane in Breaking Dawn : Part 2, and the cover shot itself features a white jacquard Chanel dress. Dakota looks beautiful, youthful and extremely sweet here.

I happen to have mixed feelings about the other photo which pictures her in a Dolce & Gabanna corset, a Roberto Cavalli skirt (which OMG, is GORGEOUS!), and cat ears. I really think we could have done with the cat ears, but from what I understand about styling (not a whole lot) the stylists wanted her to look youthful as she is still only 18 years old even though she’s going semi-risque with the corset. The interview isn’t very interesting but does include a question about Kristen Stewart’s affair with Rupert Sanders and the resultant crimpled heart of Sparkles.

“Everyone thinks they have the right to, you know, publicise the struggles and sadness and heartbreak and all of that. It’s like, ‘Why do you think you are the authority to judge people’s experiences?’ “

“Why have I been able to stay sane in a sometimes insane world? The pure love of what I do. Making movies.”

“I’ve always been drawn to material that’s more kind of heavy, you know? Whether it be dark or dramatic or sometimes disturbing. And that can be hard to do when people think you’re still a kid.”

“You know, I’m not the kind of girl or person who really wants a boyfriend in my life. I’m also the kind of person… I’m very black and white in what I feel and I don’t wanna be with someone that I don’t foresee spending a long time with.”

I think I understand Dakota’s perspective on the situation because she and Kirsten are very good friends and have not only worked together on The Twilight Saga but also grew very close on the set of The Runaways. Dakota only sees the good in Kristin, and she want’s to defend her. However, I don’t really think the bulk of the criticism over the K-Stew affair with Rupert has anything to do with “judg[ing] people’s experiences” in general. Instead, Kristen’s caught a lot of heat (from the non-Twihards, anyway) for pretending to be above all of the Hollywood cliches, and then she got caught behaving like a Hollywood cliche. Or rather, she got banging her married director like a so-called “typical” starlet.

As for Dakota, I hope she carries on just as she’s been doing as a NYU studen who somehow manages to squeeze in a bit of time for films on occassion. I predict she will be just fine.

Breaking Dawn – Part 2: 150 Days to go…

Hey again Pouters

So do you know what tomorrow is? No? Not a very great Twilight fan then, are ya? Well apparently it’s Edward Cullen’s 111th birthday and in celebration, Summit Entertainment has decided it would be an awesome idea to release the newest “teaser” (FML, another “teaser”, kill me now) trailer for Breaking Dawn Part 2. If you feel like watching the old trailer again in the meantime, check it out below:

Also, Entertainment Weekly did a spread on the Breaking Dawn Part 2 , showing us Edward and Bella with their little girl, Renesmee, and isn’t it freaky just how much she looks like Rob and KStew?

150 days remaining little Twi-hards… are you ready?

Makeup LOVES Johnny!

Hi Pouters!

Johnny Depp’s latest movie venture as Barnabas Collins in the Tim Burton film adaptation of Dark Shadows, show cases, rather a lot of makeup. But this isn’t the first time he’s slathered on the cosmetics for a role!

Johnny has made a career out of playing characters with outlandish makeup jobs. So, after seeing a trailer on TV for Dark Shadows yesterday, why should we not revisit a few of these roles.

So I present to you, dear Pouting Readers –  Johnny Depp’s most makeup-tastic roles in order of the heaviness of the cosmetics.

Oh, I feel it unncecessary to point out, but I’ll do it anyway, the majority of the most makeup heavy roles were directed by the one and only Tim Burton.

Barnabas Collins. White skin? Purple shading? Strangely pointy hair? What the heck sort of vampire is this? Once Barnabas new look had a moment to sink, I realized that perhaps I shouldn’t have been so surprised.

ED WOOD, Ed Wood

This is more for the cross dressing factor, than the amount of makeup. The Tim Burton directed biopic told the tale of the notoriously terrible director Ed Wood. Ed was also a transvestite, so naturally Johnny ended up dressing accordingly for the movie. It might be a little hard to see because of the film being in black-and-white, but there’s definitely some lipstick action going on here. And of course, black-and-white films tend to use a different sort of makeup than that used for color. Makeup artists – you can probably imagine how much extra it would take to get all that shading and contrast in greyscale.

WILLY WONKA, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

There is nothing too outrageous here, however, there’s an artificiality to the Willy Wonka look that puts it slightly higher up on the not-at-all-made-up-to-violently-made-up scale. He’s kind of got the same coloring as his candy…just a little more subtle, but you ALREADY noticed that, right??

CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW, The Pirates of the Caribbean Series

Eyeliner! Guyliner, if you will! Massive amounts of it! But not much else in the way of bizarre-looking makeup; the rest of it is really just the standard grime that ends up transferring itself to you when you sail the high seas for months at a time. Of course there was that time when he got captured and all painted up by a bunch of islanders who believed he was the human incarnation of their god…

SWEENEY TODD, Sweeney Todd: Demon of Barber Street

Aha! The first of the “Whoa! That’s a lot of look!” looks! With a totally white face and a wild mane of black hair shot through with a streak of white, Johnny looks appropriately serial killer-esque as the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Just make sure you keep him away from the straight razors. Things could get messy.

TONTO, The Lone Ranger

The Lone Ranger isn’t due out until 2013, but images from it have already begun appearing—and Tonto as played by Johnny Depp has Jack Sparrow’s dreads, Sweeney Todd’s black-and-white face, and a dead raven on his head. Classy.

EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, Edward Scissorhands

Edward’s origins were in a sketch Tim Burton drew as a teenager; and amazingly, Johnny looks exactly like the sketch come to life. Those scissorhand prosthetics are really something else, aren’t they?

THE MAD HATTER, Alice in Wonderland

By far the most makeup-heavy role Johnny has ever taken on. Is that really him under all that? Yes. Yes it is.

Hope you enjoyed going through Johnny’s most makeup-esque roles, in my opinion anway.
