Guest Contribution : First Impressions of Wet N Wild Nail Polish

For months I have been hearing about this beauty brand and that it was only available in certain Clicks stores. So when curious me got to try out a Red and a Glittery polishes I was rather happy.IMG-20150308-00011

I generally hate red on nails but decided I would use it paired with a glittery red on an accent finger. I totally love the brush , smooth strokes and no excessive polish dripping all over. I used a base coat and 2 coats of the polish. Extremely impressed as its lasted me 5 days before it started chipping and that to me was the sign to remove it. During the festive season I tried on the glittery on I used it as an overcoat of a beige/brown colour. I had to use several coats to get the colours of the glitter evenly over my nail. Once on it was rather pretty and I did get a few compliments. And the removing the glitter polish was a nightmare it took me ages, I scrapped and had to soak my nails. I wasn’t impressed with that and since then I have not used glitter polishes again.IMG-20150308-00012

I am keen to try out the other colours and products in the Wet n Wild range, I just wish more stores with stock them.

Skin – Body – Health – Hair Renewal

SKIN BODY HEALTH RENEWALBy now, I am sure you have come across the growing chain of Skin Renewal clinics, which have further branched into Body Renewal, Health Renewal and Hair Renewal. A complete medical with a touch of aesthetician approach to being the best possible you that you can. After attending the launch of the new IV infusions administered by a registered nurse on offer from Health Renewal, Victor explained how the expansion from Skin Renewal to incorporate Body, Health and Hair solutions came about. He explained it simply with a metaphor saying that our skin is like a dashboard of the car and when the lights come up on the dashboard, it doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with the light that is now shining, rather that there is something wrong with the car. Skin Renewal realised there is a gap in the market for available solutions to underlying conditions which reflect on the surface of the skin, which can only be zapped by a laser so many times which makes them disappear before they come back due the underlying cause of the problem being left untreated.

Instead of being treating for multiple conditions with different specialists the medical assistance offered from the Health Renewal clinics ensures that there will be constant communications from doctors to doctors and nurses to nurses which will be much like the communication within a hospital environment but these doctors work hand in hand together and understand each other. The purpose of Health Renewal and all of their offerings is simple, to treat causes – not symptoms. Health Renewal is not to make sick people better but rather to make you as well as you can be.

IVAbout IV Infusions on Offer at Health Renewal

Intravenous therapy, otherwise known as IV therapy is the infusion of liquid substances directly into a vein. Intravenous means “within vein”. This sounds a lot scarier than it really is simply because it involves needles and when I first read about it I thought I’d spent enough time in a hospitals with drips in my arm to even consider having my own IV infusions.  The liquid substances being directly infused into your blood system are vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants in order to correct intracellular nutrient deficiencies and help various health concerns. It is a more effective why than popping a vitamin because oral consumption of vitamins and minerals is affected and limited by factors which include the condition of the gut as well as stress and anxiety levels. After watching Victor be the test dummy and demonstrate while having the nurse how simple and easy this procedure was, I felt a lot more at ease and thought to myself, well I could do that, if it would make me feel better. Truth is, at Health Renewal, an IV Infusion is almost guaranteed to do so. Health Renewal customise the infusions to a personal note in order to combine the correct cocktail of ingredients just for you. There is no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to IV infusions.

There are various cocktails of infusions available at Health Renewal including but not limited to:

  • Skin Brightening Infusion Cocktail
  • Health/Hair/Skin/ Nails Infusion Cocktail
  • Chronic Stress Infusion Cocktail
  • Detoxification/ Anti Oxidation/ Organ Cleansing Infusion Cocktail
  • Hangover Recovery Infusion cocktail
  • Anti Viral Infusion Cocktail
  • Super Immune Infusion Cocktail
  • Athletes Performance/ Vitality Cocktail
  • Healthy Heart Cocktail Infusion

Dr. Fred at the event explained that you are what you eat but you are also what you digest and absorb. If the digestive system is absorbing impurities eventually your system will hold onto things ad eventually it clogs up your system. Your stomach and gut are critical as they are linked to every part of your body. Probiotics are essential for everyone but the capsules are not 100% successful. A probiotic is a complex science and they can get destroyed so easily. This is why IV infusions internationally have had such acclaim in terms of wellness benefits and the trends are gradually increasing on our shores because we cannot rely so heavily on our guts when there are other crucial influencing factors in ensuring we are receiving the correct nutrients 100% of the time.

Health Renewal boasts that the average age of their customers has shifted from over 40 years old to early 30’s…. This means that the consumer need for medical guidance for everything relating to general well being has shifted to be prioritised a younger age, which is the poster child for prevention being better than a cure.

If you’re intrigued, I dare you to find out more and visit a Health Renewal near you for you to start on your investment to prolonged wellness.

Five Minute Frenchie

A French polish can be a disaster when doing it yourself and can sometimes end up with a huge mess rather than effortless-chic. Essence have a genius French manicure brush which is only R31.95 and is curved to give you easy application of white nail polish to your tips in one fail-proof swoop in order to achieve gorgeous white tips which can then be topped by a nude pink.

I happened to give my latest purchase of Essence polish Nail Art Special Effect topper with a “feather effect” a whirl on top and I was seriously in love with the results! The nail art topper is only R34.95!5 Minute French

How I achieved my manicure:

  1. Prepared my nails by buffing and shaping as desired.
  2. Dipped my Essence French Manicure brush into my white Rimmel Brit Manicure polish for nail tips and in one swoop on each nail achieving a gorgeous white tip.
  3. Swooped one coat on each nail of Rimmel Brit Manicure in natural pink nail colour.
  4. Applied a coat of Essie 3-Way Glaze to each nail.
  5. Lastly applied a topped off with Essence Nail Art Special Effect Topper.

Quick. Simple. Easy. Cheap.

What is not to love? They were the perfect nails for my birthday on the weekend!

Introducing Zoya Nail Products

Hello Poutlings

Well it’s almost the long weekend! Yay!

Today I want to tell about a new nail care range from Zoya.

I was recently invited to one of the product launches hosted by Isma Theron de Wit (who also by the way is an awesome makeup artist) .

I was very pleasantly surprised by this product. As I am very hard wearing when it comes to nail polishes and very few of them actually stay on my nails for more than half a day, this is one of those very products that actually lasts and looks gorgeous.

Zoya was created by Ms Zoya Reyzis and her husband afterthought left native Russia in 1979 to make the US their new home. They decided to make a new line of nail treatments after she fell pregnant and showed sings of allergy towards her regular nail products.

Zoya obtained her cosmetology license and together with her husband, an advanced chemist they set about creating this new line of long wearing toxin-free polish.

Their collection of close to over 500 shades of lacquer is completely free of toluene, formaldehyde, DPB and camphor and formaldehyde resin. These ingredients are found in traditional nail polishes.

As this brand was the first to be “big 5 free” you can rest assured that it is also safe for pregnant mums to use.

As the lacquers are based on demand, you can be assured that your bottle is fresh and new and has not been mass produced and left on a shelf to try and thicken. The bottles are made of Italian glass and the brushes are Spanish, their products are packed in the US and none of their products are made in China.

These are just some of the colors:

Not only do they have nail polishes, but they also have lip glosses, lip therapies, lip plumpers, hand and foot treatments and spa treatments.

These are my favorite colors:

Especially the purple, it’s a gorgeous Matt color and doesn’t chip very easily like most matt colors do.

I am really excited to see this product grow in SA and become very popular. Based on their marketing exposure that they have been getting in all the top magazines ( Lucky, Women’s Health, In Style, People, and other blogs) they are really going strong and definitely are not having problems.

Be sure to follow them on Twitterverse : zoya_fairy_pta

Best of all, Zoya is cruelty free!

So go have a look and have a very colorful weekend!

A MILLION RAND MANICURE

Hiya Poutlings

Nail art has been around for a long while, but only in the past year or so has it evolved into something you were more likely to see on your cool artsy friend into a ubiquitous trend spotted on everyone from Zooey Deschanel to Beyonce.

…on the off chance you have $250,000 (roughly R1,750,000.00 – 1 million, 750 thousand SOUTH AFRICAN RANDS) you’re looking to be really careless with, and you’ve already ruled out eating it, snorting things with it and donating it to the poor, why not make like Kelly Osbourne at the Emmy’s and cash in on the Azature black diamond manicure.

Kelly Osbourne’s Nails @ The Emmys

Ladies and gentlemen of the interwebs, meet the most expensive nail polish in the world: Azature’s Black Diamond. The shimmery black formula contains 267 carats of crushed diamonds, and one bottle will cost you $250,000. The other day, I spent R200 on some Essie nail polishes and I felt a little guilty and self indulgent, so I don’t even know how to comprehend the fact that this exists.

Can you imagine, everytime you chipped your manicure on your keyboard, you’d be losing about $1,000. Talk about stressful.

What, why are you reading this blog post in that tone of voice. It is a completely reasonable and responsible way to spend your money, right?

To Kelly Osbourne’s credit, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that she, being a Joan-Rivers-approved-television-personality and Famous Person, got her Black Diamond manicure for free, it is still completely and utterly fucking ridiculous. There, I said it. Now I’m more optimistic about celebrity nail news.

Apparently, Azature is designing to sell to a department store version for $25, but I think I’ll just DIY my own by shredding up some R200 notes and mixing them into a bottle of Essie and then to proceed to cry myself to sleep…You know, it is a sick, sad, world we live in, especially with $250,000 manicures and all.
