Victoria Beckham Launches Capsule Collection

Hiya Poutlings! ❤

Victoria Beckham is to launch a capsule collection called Icon featuring the selected reworked designs from her archive collections starting from Spring/Summer 2009 season. The line of seven Beckham dresses coveted by fashionistas around the world will start at £1,000 or roughly R14,000.

Together with my personal edit of the spring/summer 2013 collections, I wanted to be able to offer an exclusive product on the site that was in keeping with the signature aesthetic that’s very special to me, I introduced Icon in response to requests for designs from as far back as my first collection from customers, and I wanted to find a way to offer them key dresses from the archive, but in newly-reworked colours and fabrics.. I hope these updated styles will become unique, limited edition pieces and am excited to revisit other archive designs as the Icon collection continues to grow.NEW ICON RANGE - VICTORIA

The dress that was unveiled as the broke is this navy and spearmint frock inspired by Victoria’s Spring/Summer collection. It will be interested to see what other dress will make it to the Icon collection… are you feeling this one? I don’t know if I like it or not. It may grow on me… maybe?

VICTORIA BECKHAM - NYFW

Meanwhile Victoria showed both her collection at NYFW. The main line textures and colour blocks while Victoria, Victoria Beckham collection is about layers and versatile pieces, which I think I prefer to the first Icon collection piece…

I’m really excited about this collection, it’s effortlessly cool and easy and we’ve developed a lot of textures, it looks like there’s a lot of layers. The idea is that you don’t have to think about it. It looks like two pieces – jumpers and skirts – but it’s just one piece and you can just zip yourself up and off you go.

Be sure to check out Vicky’s website for the new ecommerce website and new pieces of Icon collection.

LFW: saying “Fabulous” In a British Accent

Hiya Poutlings

Hope you’re all doing faaaabulous!! Anyway, anyone been keeping up with London Fashion week? Well, I have, but very briefly.

Who are the front row fame ho’s at this Fashion Week? Well, its certainly not lived up to the celebrity drenched hub that is NYC.

Even New York this year wasn’t up to it’s usual star-spotting standard. This year was just dull in having couples who add up to one mega star between the two of them, I mean Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas or even Kim Krapdashian and Kanye West *vomit* I’d much rather have a Gwen Stafani or a Tilda Swinton over those couples, you know, people who really are known and matter substantially more? Yes. Those!

London, on the other hand has been even more disappointing. A group of “It” fashionaista models, Laura Bauley, Poppy Delevigne, bloggers and self-affected children, Alexa Chung, Kelly Osbourne, Pixie Geldof… oh and of course, Lady Gaga jumping up and down looking for attention, again… a bit like an annoying little dog, but worse.

The highlights of the lowlights so far:

At Henry Holland, Alexa Chung tells the other spiffingly fabulous fashion twigs how she doesn’t even know why anyone is interested in her.

Kelly Osbourne interrupts and offers advice on how to wear sunglasses and speak in two accents at once. And say “all fashion” all the time on TV.

At Burberry, Anna Wintour having a old girls meet ‘n greet with photographer Mario Testino. She actually looks her age in this snake print suit from the cruise ship boutique.

Dita Von Teese starts an impromptu outdoor burlesque by sexily dropping her umbrella then remembers she’s wearing corseting that renders her incapable of even scratching her head and waitis a knight in a shining retro tuxedo to save her.

Who ever the hell Tali Lennox is (I guess by the name she is Annie’s kid – maybe!), I like her Burberry Prorsum swag.

Who ever the hell this chick is needs to go back to her struggling artists loft and brush her hair…

Samantha Cameron wonders why she can’t sit with a bitchy fashion blogger or a child of celebrity.

Child of American music royalty, Daisy Lowe shows no sign of her step mother, Gwen Stefani’s style, grace or genuine rock ‘n roll attitude.

14 year old Marc Jacobs’ muse Elle Fanning shows up to Topshop Unique straight from school… Aaah, does it make you miss how glamourous school uniform can be? hahha. NAAT.

Olivia Palermo does it up proper fashion, like also at Unique. She has an uncanny ability to make you want to buy clothes that will make you look like you are wearing a black plastic bin bag.

…well that’s all for now folks.

NYFW : Marc Jacobs

Hiya Poutlings…

Welly, welly, well, the one and only Mr. Marc Jacobs has taken the world on a time machine with his vision for Spring 2013 in New York.

This type of fashion at New York Fashion week makes me feel glad to be alive. Some of the coats actually made my heart beat a bit faster.

As Marc is renowned for the being the master of making-something-cool-that-you-thoight-wasn’t-cool served up a whole lot of sixties, but managed to do it without leaving your eyes feeling like they’ve been drenched in retro.

Instead, Marc Jacobs has left you, or should I say, me, wanting to look like a sixities chick with panda eyes and a Vidal Sasoon hair cut. I actually want to go back there and live it.  I really love this collection. Except for the neck ruffs. I really don’t know what the deal is with these this season, Valentino had them in his collection too.

Not only did he hit the nail on the head with the clothing but he got the vibe of his runway show down with calling up the sixties cool feel of Betty Draper, Megan Draper, Holly Golightly, Twiggy, Lulu, Mary Quant, Brigitte Bardot and even Gidget.

Normally, I would cringe at the thought of prison effect stripes and clown ruffles, but when you stand back and appreciate the bravery to so bodly and prominetly incorporate such features, you realise you’re watching the work of one of the best show men of his generation.

The man himself wore an outfit that looks like it had stepped  out of “Stayin’ Alive”.

NYFW : Norisol Ferrari Runway Show

Hiya Poutlings!

As I mentioned in my post about the Sheri Hill runway show, I am trying to keep updated with all the news from New York Fashion Week, but there is just an overload of amazing designers, models, and trends that I am struggling to keep ahead of it all. I will try and keep you updated with the most interesting stories, in my opinion of course 😉

For the past five days there has been nothing but familiar teenage faces pouting their way down the runway, show after show. So it’s refreshing to see a designer really kick the trend in the teeth and do something completely different. Possibly cast women that may just *gasp* around the same age as their respective target market. NORISOL FERRARI did just that at her show on Monday morning. Norisol Ferrari sent icons like Carol Alt, Alva Chinn and Carmen Dell’Orefice, who is 81 years young, down the catwalk amidst some of the fresher faces.

Alva Chinn – 57 Years Old

Carmen Dell Orefice – 81 Years Old

Carol Alt – 51 years old

The iconic faces were a huge hit amongst the crowd, especially since they didn’t just do the old walk-turn-repeat favoured by most of the designers these days. Alva Chinn for the most part, shashayed leisurely down the runway, stopping to strike a seductive pose or two along the way. Carmen Dell’Orefice also interrupted her walk to elegantly mug for the cameras, creating lots of applause amongst the audience.

It was a lot of enthusiam coming from the audience, which I would imagine are mostly Upper-East-Types (simply because I have watched Gossip Girl, hahaha) but then, these were definitely clothes for the confident, mature and above all sophisticated women. There was a definite femme fatale vibe to this collection, which included seaside separates paired with oversized hats, trim, neutral pieces and sweeping evening gowns, while I am not sure I have the attitude to pull off the saucer-sized chapeaux, I have no doubt Carmen Dell’Orefice and crew would put today’s street styles to shame under of those hats.

I certainly take my hat off to these ladies to remind the younger generation that this is certainly elegance in its finest form.
