Introducing The Ordinary Skincare Company

A couple of months ago I was invited to the launch of the Ordinary Skincare Company for South African retailers after being an established and excellent brand overseas in the United Kingdom, the fact that the forelady is South African and uses South African ingredients, it only makes sense for the extra ordinary products be available on South African soil. The products being made locally in new facilities in Cape Town to pharmaceutical industry GMP standards.  The mission from Aesthetic Medicine expert and the ever so passionate founder of the Ordinary Skincare Company, Dr. Claire Jamieson knew that issues surrounding sensitive skin and products made to help them were not delivering effective or long term results due to excessive ingredients which cause multiple reactions rather than results. With having personal experiences of her daughter suffering from long term eczema she was driven to find a solution to help and compiled a range using only the most natural ingredients and ensured that these were placed into ordinary crisp white hygienic, recycable packaging.

The plant oils and extracts used in the range are carefully selected in order to deliver effective results. Keeping to the core philosophy of Ordinary Skincare Company,, they use five African botanicals, being:

  • Aloe Ferox
  • Olive Oil
  • Grapeseed Oil
  •  Shea Butter
  •  Green Rooibos Leaf Extract

All of the above products boast moisturising, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects when applied to the skin. This results in having skin being smooth, supple and healthy.

The range consists of two parts: Plain Ordinary and Extra Ordinary.

Plain Ordinary - Moisturising Balm - R329.00 online

Plain Ordinary – Moisturising Balm – R329.00 online

The Plain Ordinary Range includes one product, the Moisturising Balm which is the solution for any dry sensitive skin. This product is on a mission to hydrate and is safe to be used everywhere on the body from head to heel, even for the most sensitive skins. It plainly is moisture in a tub as it contains no perfume, preservatives, emulsifiers, petrochemicals, heavy metals, essential oils or mineral oils. It rapidly is absorbed by the skin and leaves a long lasting, smooth and silky feel to the skin. It can be used for, but not limited to:

  • To keep your pout soft and kissable and avoiding dry chapped lips
  • Post sun care
  • Cracked heels
  • Chapped hands
  • Eczema affected areas
  • Psoriasis
  • Razor burn
  • Moisturiser for the delicate skin of the face and neck.

The Extra Ordinary Range is designed for daily use as indicated includes a Night Cream, a Day Cream and a Day Cream with SPF 30 all products are for dry, sensitive, hardworking skin to be applied in the morning or evening as indicated to the face and hand area. To greatly reduce dry skin and promote supple texture which will also reduce the ageing. There are no harsh chemicals, petrochemicals or colourants in the range and the products are designed to boost your skin vitality when used consecutively.

POUTALITIOUS PESTO PRINCESS PRODUCT REVIEW AND RECIPES

Image

Good day my lovely Pouters!

What a lovely day it is, you wanna know why…. Today I made myself a light lunch before this blog entry, made out of the goodness of the tasty Red pepper pesto from Pesto Princess, some mayo, rye crackers, red bell peppers, and some olives with added cheese blocks. The pesto is from a brand called Pesto Princess, an awesomely fresh brand I recently came accross.. you just have to try them out!

Pesto Princess offers ultimate flavour with added freshness to insure you enjoy every meal.

Here’s some recipes you could try out when using your Pesto Princess flavours:

Pesto Pizza Split a loaf of French bread and brush with pesto. Top with capicola, shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan. Broil until the cheese melts.

Pesto Fritters Mix 1 cup each ricotta and chopped spinach, 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 cup each grated parmesan and pesto, and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder; chill 30 minutes. Deep-fry tablespoonfuls in 350 degrees F vegetable oil until golden, 4 minutes. Serve with marinara sauce.

Pesto Butter Mash 3/4 cup pesto into 4 tablespoons softened butter.

Tuna–White Bean Pasta Cook 1 sliced garlic clove in a skillet with 3 tablespoons olive oil, 1 minute. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, 1 can each drained tuna and white beans, and 1/4 cup pesto. Toss with 12 ounces cooked spaghetti and some torn basil.

Pesto Mussels Saute 4 sliced garlic cloves in a pot with olive oil until golden, 2 minutes. Add 2 pounds mussels and 1 cup white wine; cover and cook until the mussels open, about 4 minutes. Stir in 3 tablespoons pesto.

Pesto Potato Salad Cook 2 pounds quartered new potatoes in salted boiling water until tender, 10 to 15 minutes; drain and cool slightly. Whisk 1 cup mayonnaise, 3 tablespoons pesto and the juice of 1 lemon; toss with the potatoes and 1 cup diced celery.

Pesto Wings Marinate 2 pounds chicken wings in 1/2 cup pesto and 1/4 cup each cider vinegar, hot sauce and honey. Roast at 425 degrees F, 40 minutes. Toss with chopped basil and mint.

And here’s a great video showing you how to make the most delicious egg pesto melt http://weelicious.com/2011/03/25/egg-pesto-melt-program/

REMEMBER WHEN USING THE AWESOME PESTO PRINCESS PRODUCTS TO: Freeze in its glass jar for up to 3 months: 5-10 minutes to soften, use, and safely refreeze!

PESTO PRINCESS FLAVOURS:

  • OLIVE AND AUBERGINES
  • BASIL
  • ROCKET AND WALNUTS
  • RED PEPPER
  • THAI
  • GREEK

Pesto Princess also offers you a monthly Royal Recipe: http://eepurl.com/ctO5r

Footnote…
How did the quirky name, Pesto Princess, come about?
At a market in the early days, someone asked her what her company name was. Without thinking, she replied, “Pesto Princess”, and giggled.
And so it was.
