Essence Soft Touch Mousse Makeup

When it comes to using and loving foundations, I tend to be overly critical. I basically have one type that I love to use, and very seldom try something new or switch it up.

So when these little pots came along, my excitement levels did not rise as it usually would. But then I decided that to be totally fair, I would have to give it a try and see what happens.

It is housed in a small glass pot, with a coloured screw on lid that indicates the shade of the product inside. Upon opening it, it looks divine. So lovely, that I did not want to ruin the lovely inside by using it. The product itself is odourless and the consistency is a mousse, gel like whipped cream. It has a lovely texture.

It is easy to apply and blend. The coverage of this product is quite good and you need only to apply and blend once, because it is matte, whipped and sheer it might look caked if you apply more than one coat.

Longevity of this product is also a surprise. I did not expect it to last as long, but it does. And when I use a primer, it stays perfectly put the whole day. Another added benefit is the fact that it is matte. My skin looks velvety and shine free the whole day. No more shiny patches halfway through the day.

I am happy to report that I have substituted my regular heavy foundation with this one daily. It’s lightness, the matte finish and the fact that it has not clogged my pores once is what won me over. My first tub of this is almost empty, and I have already purchased another one. And for only R63-50 and the quality you are receiving for that price, I am converted.

Catrice Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette – 010 Frankie Rose to Hollywood

There is something magical about eyeshadow palettes, you get so many colours with different effects and it feels like one can never have enough of the lovely colours that makes our eyes pop.

20150606_155647

Housed in a plastic container, this pan contains 6 shades that goes from light to dark. Along with the palette you receive a dual ended applicator, one side being a sponge applicator and the other side being a small brush. To be honest, I never use the applicators provided and use my own eyeshadow brushes.

20150606_155730

The colours in this palette is simply beautiful and you can create so many different looks with it. It is hard to capture a picture of the colours that does it justice, so I ended up not including the swatch pictures, because it does not look they way it looks on your eyes.

Varying from light to dark, the colours range from pearly, to matte to shimmer. I have been loving all of these colours and use it basically every day, the only colour I find hard to ‘relate to’ is the dark colour on the far right. I have been struggling to blend the maroon shimmer colour perfectly.

This palette is highly pigmented, smooth on application and very easy to blend, the only problem I am finding with it is that I experience a lot of fallout of product. In the pan itself, but also under my eyes while applying it. So my only tip would be to keep your concealer and setting powder at hand when you apply this product as you might have to follow up with a touch up after applying the eyeshadow. Will it keep me from using it? In no way, no. With such lovely colours it is not a deal breaker with me.

The longevity of this product is quite good, but I have found that if I use it combined with the Catrice Prime and fine eyeshadow base, that the colours seems to stay on longer and that the base just makes the colours pop a little more.

For a budget item, this is definitely a good buy. You can find it at Dischem stores nationwide and it retails for R90.

Love,

Leandra

INOAR Absolut Daymoist CLR Shampoo & Conditioner

For a long time I have been hearing (and well, reading)  about this Brazilian haircare brand that everyone has fallen in love with. When I was given the opportunity to give their products a try ,it had me excited. Number one, I don’t frequent haircare salons that often and yes, like most ladies, I love to have beautiful and perfect hair.

Only problem is, my hair has been a little out of sorts lately and in desperate need of a moisture boost. And these two gems could not have come at a better time.

20150606_155422INOAR claims that these products will intensely condition and recover you hair, while leaving it with added glow and elasticity.

They are packaged in 250ml yellow bottles with a twist cap (which makes life easier by the way, especially when you are in the shower) and the fragrance of both the shampoo and conditioner makes me think of having my hair washed in a salon.

The products itself contains Cornstarch, Beet Extract and Daymoist CLTRM. I do not really have an idea what all of those ingredients each do seperately, but combined they basically maintain the hair strand to increase bounce and elasticity, preserve colour and shine, protects from discoloration and basically prepares your hair for heat styling.

Did it work for me? Yes it did. After the second wash it was as if my hair had received an instant moisture boost, it was noticeably smoother, and my hair was extremely shiny. One would think that because it is a moisturising combo, that my hair would be ‘heavy’, but it did not weigh my hair down at all or leave it greasy whatsoever. My hair was also manageable and easy to style. Not only did this product recover my damaged hair, but it also protects my hair from heat styling after each use.

Will I repurchase it again? Yes, definitely.

There are three products in this range, Shampoo (R220), Conditioner (R220) and the Mask (350). I have only tried the Shampoo and Conditioner, but are dying to get my hands on the mask.

Love,

Leandra

Review: Wet ‘n Wild Megaliner Liquid Eyeliner

I am always on the prowl for a liquid eyeliner that does a great job, but sometimes they end up being disappointing and do not live up to their claims. Especially when it is a budget friendly item, you do not always get what you pay for. So when I received this product to try, I was a bit sceptical to say the least.

wet-n-wild-mega-liner-turquoiseAt first use I realised that I was judging a book by it’s price.

Application is a breeze with this product. Because it has a thin tipped brush, it enables you to create a very thin and precise line with ease. It dries within seconds which also makes this product virtually smudge proof. That is a huge plus for me as I hate it when my eyeliner messes up my makeup

Shade: Turquoise

Colour payoff on this eyeliner is also very good. With it being highly pigmented the colour literally goes pop. What probably impressed me the most is the lasting power. It lasts me the whole day without smudging halfway through the day and it does not affect removal at all. Removal is quick and easy.

Overall I am happy with this product and if you are looking for a budget friendly liquid eyeliner that lasts the whole day, then this is the one for you.

They come in 6 colours: Black Sparkle, Black, Blue, Turquoise, Dark Brown and Brown and you can find them at Clicks stores nationwide and it will only set you back R44.95.

Essence Maximum Volume Mascara

My latest go-to every day mascara is… Essence Maximum Volume Mascara! ess_MaximumVolumeMascara_offen.jpg

It lasts the whole day…  I’ve been applying about 3 strokes to each eye for the past few months and it really builds so well on your lashes, giving lots of volume and lift to your eyes, its a semi-wet consistency but dries quickly and it doesn’t flake off your eyes during the day. It is a super magic mascara for anyone looking for added volume but I think the trick is down to the wand. Its a plastic rubbery mascara wand.

a full days wear of the Essence Maximum Volume mascara, after experience 37 degrees Celsius heat. The mascara stayed put the whole day!

The wand helps to separate the lashes individually and because of this it doesn’t result in unsightly clumped up lashes while building some length. I’ve been using this mascara for the past 4 months (I know you are not supposed to do this – but it is still fine), the consistency has not changed and the formula has not gone dry which is a huge bonus.

One eye with mascara, the other waiting to be applied. Perfect for everyday volume!

A real steal for anyone lashes as the retail price is only R53.95 and is available from selected pharmacies.
