Guest Contribution : 5 Great Sunglasses brands

What makes a sunglasses brand great? First of all, it’s the quality of their products. This includes the materials used and the craftsmanship. Then, there’s design, which to some is even more important than quality. Last, but not least, it’s all about business. Taking the right decision at the right time means a successful label. Below are five famous sunglasses models, all created by brands who knew when it was time to enter the field, and how to do it. Click here for amazing brands that have defined what sunglasses are.

5 GREAT SUNGLASS BRANDS

1. Ray Ban Wayfarer. The brand was founded in 1937 with the purpose of making goggles for pilots. They branched out into eyewear for the masses, and to great success. The Wayfarers are one of the most popular sunglasses models of our times, although they’ve been previously adored in the 50s and 80s. Click here for more Ray Ban models on GlassesOnWeb.com.

2. Prada 27 NS. What began as a leathergoods shop in 1913’s Italy evolved slowly, but steadily. They launched a ready-to-wear line for the first time in 1989, and one year later they started designing eyewear. The past few years have been huge for Prada sunglasses, most of their collections immediately becoming popular with the fashion crowd.

3. Persol 0649. Similar to Ray Ban, the brand started early on (1917) to provide eyewear for a specific demographics (tram drivers). Their most famous model was popularized by Steve McQueen in the 60s, and it was revived in the past few years by both male and female celebrities.

4. Tom Ford Nikita. The designer launched his namesake brand in 2006, complete with menswear, beauty, eyewear and accessories. Already experienced from Gucci and YSL, Tom Ford knew what he wanted. Just a few years later, his sunglasses are worn by virtually any famous face and are coveted worldwide.

5. Miu Miu 10 NS. The sister brand of Prada, Miu Miu was founded in 1993. The brand soon launched an eyewear line, which became successful in no time. Along with their pentagonal frames, these are the most popular of recent seasons, especially in their glitter version.

Lingerie Letters – April 2013

Hi Poutlings!

20130417_174226If you didn’t see my Lingerie Letters product & service review from last month – clickety click! I just thought I’d share my April letter with you… and for everyone that giggled about my personal remark about sharing my knickers online, I’m doing it again….

20130417_174239

This month was a pair of French knickers, and Lingerie Letters had gone very tres chic with their love notes they send out along with the knickers!

20130417_174416I don’t think I own another pair of French knickers, which I believe are also called “tap pants” in the USA… They are more similar to a pair of boxer shorts, compared to traditionally fitted underwear. If you wear these during the day, be sure to pair them with very loose fitting pants or a flowing skirt as they can create quite a large visible panty line with the likes of wearing skinny jeans for example.  I think might become a new part of my nightwear, haven’t decided yet though.

20130417_174303

This month Lingerie Letters also sent along with the knickers “Comfitex Feminie Wipes“, which I assume are of a similar nature to the other products of the same genre on the market, but I have never read or can find any information on the company to be more informed, maybe Lingerie Letters would have more info on this?

Don’t forget to check out their website LingerieLetters.co.za and sign up for the one month option, for R95, if you are not sure about how this thing works, it’s fun, cute, a bit cheeky and a very unique idea! They are also quite interactive on their Facebook Page and I’m sure will respond to any queries you may have, alternatively, check them out on Twitter – @LingerieLetters

Lingerie Letters – March 2013

Hiya Poutlings!

So, I know I’m a bit behind on updating you on some of my recent purchases and experiences which I  am dying to share my  with our amazing readers, so here goes my first one (of many to come in the near future!)

If you love pretty things, underwear included, this one is definitely up your alley!

Lingerie Letters – Service & Product Review

The product and service is EXACTLY as the name suggests…. once you have signed up for the service, you will be guaranteed to receive a new pair of knickers in your post box, once a month. Just like that, SUPRISE.

I was slightly taken a back by this in the beginning, but being an open minded individual, I decided to give it a try and I need to say that I have been utterly impressed by the service and how ingenious the idea really is.

You sign up online with your personal details and every month you receive a suprise pair of knickers in the post. It is a different idea but its cute and it works, so very well.

The suprise element is definitely the best feature of this service, as you have the option to choose weather you want your favourite style, i.e. thongs, briefs or suprise me! and preferred size (XS – XXL) and then Lingere Letters suprise you every month with a new pair of drawers, in the post.

Website navigation: 9/10 & Payment: 9/10

Simple, easy, efficent navigation and payment

Notification of Payment: 10/10

I had just closed my web browser and received an email almost immediately that I was signed up for the next postage run

Suprise element: 10/10

by the time the item was in the post I had no idea that it had been sent! In fact, I am not sure how long it had been in my postbox for!!

Originality: 10/10

As far as I am aware, this is the first suprise lingerie postage service in South Africa, and the originality of the knickers they sent were unlike any I have seen in the shopping malls recently, so cute and fun.

Quality of the product: 10/10

These are by no means cheaply made, they are absolutely exquisite.

Price: 9/10

Afforable and competitive pricing, in line with the pricing in stores for buying individual pairs of knickers, especially if you buy the 6 month option. 20130402_08203320130402_082057

Packaging: 8/10

Thankfully the postage is rather discreet, the envelope is a plain white post which appears to be full, inside is the pretty Lingerie Letters envelope which encases the pair of knickers being sent to you in a small little sealed plastic packet. I was ever so grateful for the plastic packaging as I stated earlier, I do not know how long the post had been sitting in my postbox and I can tell that the envelope had been exposed to the elements, so the knickers were not damaged.

Now, that we know the service works because its been tried and tested by me… This would this be such a cute idea for a bachelorette gift for one of your close girl friends that is getting married… I think so.

this has to possibly be one of the most personal things I've ever shared on a post, my knickers. I saved you the fortune of seeing me parading around in them... jokes. ha ha, now stop looking at my knickers... moving on!

Guest Contribution : Why is a Wedding Band so Important?

Although not necessary for the legalities of a wedding, the wedding band, and the swapping of them during a ceremony, is still one of the most symbolic things that many of us will do during our lives.

There are many reasons that a quality wedding band is so important for both the bride and her groom. Here, we turn our focus to the male half of the partnership, and explore the importance of a wedding band both in general, as well as any sex-specific reasons why a quality ring is so important.

Place of Work

Wherever we work, our hands and face are the most exposed parts of our body. Some workplaces, such as building sites and certain factories, are more male dominated and the nature of these locations and lend themselves to a wedding band getting damaged.

Therefore, a stronger metal such as tungsten is a better option for many men than say, gold, which is not as strong and more likely to get damaged. Tungsten also requires less on-going ‘maintenance,’ it’ll never lose its shine, for example.

Man Hands

Whether you believe it is down to God or evolution, the fact is that men have bigger, coarser hands than women do. A wedding ring that is small or feeble looking just seems out of place on a man’s hand. While women a probably better suited to a thin band, on a man it just appears plain silly.

A nice, bold, prominent ring is what is needed for a guy, especially when he will want to show off the fact that he is married to a wonderful woman, and proud to be so.

Only Jewellery

Men tend to wear less jewellery than women do, for whatever reason. It is only natural then, that if a wedding band is going to be a man’s only piece of jewellery, that it should be something of a ‘show stealer.’

Of course, we’re not saying women shouldn’t have a great looking band just because they may wear more jewellery, but you understand where we’re coming from.

The Symbolism

Into the more general reasons now, and we touched on the symbolism that comes with wedding bands earlier.

What exactly does a wedding band symbolise?

In its most basic sense, it is a sign that one is married, but taking it deeper it is a symbol of your love for someone based around the wedding vows related to ‘with this ring,’ for example. If a couple has matching wedding bands, or perhaps they are engraved or customised in some other way, this further adds to the importance.

Everyone Asks

We were not able to talk about quality wedding bands without getting this in! When you are ‘circulating’ at your wedding reception or party later on, everyone asks for a look at the rings, even that of the groom.

Why have the token ‘oh isn’t it wonderful’ when you can have a top quality wedding band and give people a real ‘wow’ factor. You shouldn’t worry too much about what people think, obviously, but if you have a stunning wedding band, why not show it off?
