No Sun? No Problem!

The sun is probably the worst ingredient for anti-ageing around, however the wonderful team at Caribbean tan have you sorted – come rain or shine!

Although, I’m a real pale thing, it doesn’t hurt on a warm winter day when you want to wear a skirt or show a little bit of skin to not be see-through! Being see-through scares people who think you might be dead.

No matter the weather, one always looks better with a healthy sun-kissed glow and an affordable glow is attainable by us all in just a few steps!

  1. exfoliate your skin until its smooth, like a baby’s bottom! – they have you sorted with their Cinnamon & Coconut Skin Smoothing Exfoliator
  2. apply your preferred tan

Guest Contribution : First Impressions Wild Fern Manuka Honey Range

Fi sent me three samples of the Wild Fern Manuka honey products to try out.

The three products were:

-Ultra Rich Night Revival Crème

-Gentle Facial Cleanser

-Conditioning hand Crème

All of these products are manufactured in New Zealand by Parrs products. The key ingredient in these products are Active AAH 650+ New Zealand Manuka Honey.

Manuka is a flowering tree native to New Zealand. The honey collected from these flowers is what makes these products different to so many other products on the market.

Manuka honey contains an enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide, which we all know is an antiseptic. Except for the high antiseptivc and bacterial contents, Manuka honey is also packed with proteins, vitamins and minerals.

AAH stands for Active Antibacterial Antioxidant. The number 650+ is the activity range of the antiseptic value. Ok, so this basically means the Manuka honey is categorised on a scale of numbers from 470-650, and the higher the number, the higher the antibacterial value of the product.

This is how I experienced the products:

Gentle Facial CleanserGentle Facial Cleanser

It is a yellow, milky substance that smells like honey. When I squeezed it into my hand it was quite runny and my initial thoughts were oh no, how is this going to clean my face? When I applied it to my face I actually had to eat a huge chunk of my own humble pie, because even though the product is runny, it is extremely moisturising and I simply cannot describe how silky and soft this is on my skin. I was blown away.

It cleansed my face properly, removed all my makeup and left my skin feeling so soft.

Of all three products, this one is by far the superstar.

Ultra Rich night revival crème

Ultra Rich Night Revival Creme

This cream has a thick, yellow substance and the smell is sweet but more humbling.

My skin definitely felt more moisturised after use and I woke up with a dewy complexion.

Conditioning hand crème

Conditioning Hand Creme

This cream also is a thick, yellow substance that has the sweet honey smell. Even though it is a thick cream, did it not leave my hands greasy. It absorbed immediately and left my hands hydrated and looking good.

Overall I think these are great products and I would definitely purchase them for my daily skincare routine.

DCL Skincare

A while back I had the privilege to attend an event at the Laserderm Aesthetic Clinic branch in Claremont for some informative information on the Gentle Max Pro Laser system as well as the DCL skincare range, which I was not familiar with at all but now I am and thought I would share this new found knowledge with you all.DCL

At a glance the Dermatologic Cosmetic Laboratories, otherwise known as DCL, looks somewhat pharmaceutical in appearance, crisp white with no graphics or imagery but rather just clearly labelled. This first impression is not far from the truth as the products are developed and collaborated with the medical field in order to create a “focus group” which marks out the development of the formulas in order to achieve the best possible result for the end user. The best news: DCL is cruelty free!

The company is 33 years old and co-pioneered the development of AHA’s, (Alpha Hydroxy Treatments) which are unique in their own right. Who wouldn’t want to be able to resurface their skin or address uneven skin tone and decongest pores all while ridding the skin of dead skin cells for great results in clarity and texture?

Similar to other skincare brands, DCL offer anti-ageing, eye care products, antioxidant products, specialised and general cleansing, specialised moisturising, specialised masks and specialised sun protections. The DCL products are a luxury skincare brand which is driven on results. As with most of the luxurious things in life, they are not cheap but can you place a price on the health of your skin?

Some of my top picks for the products within the range are:

Top picks for mature skin

DCL SKIN RENEWALSkin Renewal R1,000

A daytime skin treatment to combat the signs of ageing. The product contains 10% Glycolic fruit acid which resurfaces the skin and evens the tone and texture; the anti-oxidant green tea helps build the immunity of the skin; the chemical free SPF 20 shields the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays; hydrating moisturiser which leaves no residue; makeup can easily be applied over the product.
