Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate

When Clarins say ‘super’ in the product’s name, then you know they are meaning serious business. Allow me to deliberate a little bit.

Clarins created this product to act on all visible signs of ageing around the eyes, from Dark circles to Crow’s feet to Puffiness and Deep wrinkles. I struggle with crow’s feet, discoloration, age spots in my eye area, dark circles and puffiness and thought I am probably the best guinea pig for this products.

20150704_152816

This product is housed in a red, pump action bottle with 15ml of product. The consistency is a white, super light, gel like cream that glides on. They say you apply it twice daily around the eye area from temple to temple, so I envisioned me having a pair of spectacles on my face, and all the areas where the spectacles would cover my skin, would be the total eye area I would cover with this product daily (Take note, you apply it everywhere around the eye area, not just the bottom of the eyes, but the top as well).

This products contains the following ingredients:

  • Organic Harungana Leaf extract helps smooth wrinkles and crow’s feet.
  • Albizia extract brightens dark circles.
  • Guarana extract helps reduce puffiness.
  • Cassie Flower wax instantly smoothes.
  • Cupuaçu Butter nourishes.
  • Golden Pearls illuminate eye contours.
  • D-Panthenol enhances lashes.

Did it work? Yes, yes and yes. I started to see visible results in only 4 days. I am already at day 16, but haven’t had time to take a new picture of my eye area yet. Here is a picture comparing my before picture and my results at day 4.

collage_20150629095219812_20150629095324032

Both are my right eye, I think the angle of the pictures were taken differently. The results are staggering and it is actually hard to document it properly in a picture.

The skin around my eye area is less resilient (for a lack of a better word). To explain that statement I would say that my skin under my eyes was not the delicate flower it was supposed to be, it felt more like a rough patch. Now with using this product my eye area is soft to the touch, velvety, less blotchy and definitely just looks better.

It literally feels to me like this product erases a thin layer of damaged skin each day, over time fading away all the imperfections. I am impressed and will definitely recommend this product to anyone experiencing the same issues than me.

You can find them at Clarins counters nationwide and they retail for R825 for 15ml.

Love,

Leandra

Classic Skincare the Optiphi Way

Optiphi Restore TherapyMy experiences with Optiphi only get more and more enjoyable. From a brand I just knew a name and nothing about, the pleasure of having being introduced to the ladies behind the Cape Town marketing side late last year has made me be completely intrigued by their wonderful and sophisticated approach to skincare.

My first ever encounter was with their Refine-Foliant, which I received in a goodie bag and was so excited to use it in this particular goodie bag I also received the Restore Therapy which I had yet to use until very recently.  I am actually craving to get my paws on another bottle of the Refine-Foliant as it is really amazing stuff. My second encounter with the brand didn’t fail to disappoint and that was with their body care range Body Curve Body Lotion which has been my skin saviour this winter.

For the past few weeks I have been using their wonderful night cream from their Classic Skincare range, called Restore Therapy. It is a dermal restoration moisturiser and it has taken me so long to use it because I have never really battled with dry skin until starting my course of skincare peels.  With the cold weather, and peeling my skin has not been feeling itself and I feel like when I was looking in the mirror my face was screaming dehydration at me. The Classic Skincare range by Optiphi is said to ensure healthy skin by reinstating moisture and redefining skin architecture. The Refine-Foliant is actually also part of the Classic Skincare range too. It is not normal for me to be craving moisture products for my face but because of the dehydration what an amazing product to use to restore the moisture. I started using the Restore Therapy because I do have complete faith in Optiphi living up to their promises, and I have not been disappointed. I also could not leave this gorgeous bottle unattended any longer and had to start smothering my face with this divine moisturiser. The product has breathed a new life of moisture back into my skin and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth.

Restore Therapy moisturiser activates a cascade of effects that restore skin density, supports your skincare structure, promotes elasticity, activates collagen and replenishes lost moisture.

The bottle is huge and a little goes a long way, it is a night cream as they do not have any SPF in the product but in the Classic Skincare range they have a moisturiser called Complete Therapy which is said to work hand in hand with this night cream. The product retails between R650 – R900 and is available at selected salons nationwide. For more information on stockists please contact Optiphi.

Don’t forget to check out Optiphi’s website, Twitter @Optiphi and Facebook.

Introducing The Ordinary Skincare Company

A couple of months ago I was invited to the launch of the Ordinary Skincare Company for South African retailers after being an established and excellent brand overseas in the United Kingdom, the fact that the forelady is South African and uses South African ingredients, it only makes sense for the extra ordinary products be available on South African soil. The products being made locally in new facilities in Cape Town to pharmaceutical industry GMP standards.  The mission from Aesthetic Medicine expert and the ever so passionate founder of the Ordinary Skincare Company, Dr. Claire Jamieson knew that issues surrounding sensitive skin and products made to help them were not delivering effective or long term results due to excessive ingredients which cause multiple reactions rather than results. With having personal experiences of her daughter suffering from long term eczema she was driven to find a solution to help and compiled a range using only the most natural ingredients and ensured that these were placed into ordinary crisp white hygienic, recycable packaging.

The plant oils and extracts used in the range are carefully selected in order to deliver effective results. Keeping to the core philosophy of Ordinary Skincare Company,, they use five African botanicals, being:

  • Aloe Ferox
  • Olive Oil
  • Grapeseed Oil
  •  Shea Butter
  •  Green Rooibos Leaf Extract

All of the above products boast moisturising, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects when applied to the skin. This results in having skin being smooth, supple and healthy.

The range consists of two parts: Plain Ordinary and Extra Ordinary.

Plain Ordinary - Moisturising Balm - R329.00 online

Plain Ordinary – Moisturising Balm – R329.00 online

The Plain Ordinary Range includes one product, the Moisturising Balm which is the solution for any dry sensitive skin. This product is on a mission to hydrate and is safe to be used everywhere on the body from head to heel, even for the most sensitive skins. It plainly is moisture in a tub as it contains no perfume, preservatives, emulsifiers, petrochemicals, heavy metals, essential oils or mineral oils. It rapidly is absorbed by the skin and leaves a long lasting, smooth and silky feel to the skin. It can be used for, but not limited to:

  • To keep your pout soft and kissable and avoiding dry chapped lips
  • Post sun care
  • Cracked heels
  • Chapped hands
  • Eczema affected areas
  • Psoriasis
  • Razor burn
  • Moisturiser for the delicate skin of the face and neck.

The Extra Ordinary Range is designed for daily use as indicated includes a Night Cream, a Day Cream and a Day Cream with SPF 30 all products are for dry, sensitive, hardworking skin to be applied in the morning or evening as indicated to the face and hand area. To greatly reduce dry skin and promote supple texture which will also reduce the ageing. Pillow Talk

A couple of weeks ago I met Lucie, who is better known as the SilkLady. She taught me so much about silk and the benefits of a silk pillowcase which is what her company the SilkLady produces.

Silk Lady

Its a known fact that sleep is a big contributor towards gorgeous, healthy glowing skin and gorgeous locks but until recently I’ve never thought much about my bedding contributing towards this factor, more specifically my pillow. If you are already on a strict skin and hair workout regime, you should invest toward to holy grail of skin care for your face, a beautiful silk pillowcase. The SilkLady provides beautiful quality 100% organic silk pillowcases which are anti-ageing, hypo-allergenic, natural skin care and good for your hair.

Silk is similar to human skin and one of its properties is a natural protein that contributes to skin wellbeing by renewing the rate in which the skin producing new skin cells which will result in the ageing processing being slowed down.Unlike normal pillowcases which can cause facial creases, which is a main contributor to wrinkles, the skin and hair can also be stripped of natural moistures and absorbed, which can result in dry skin and brittle hair. It may take some getting use to if you have been using a cotton pillowcase for years as silk will always have more slip and glide than cotton. This, however is the reason why you should invest in a quality silk pillowcase, the slip and glide of the silk is the reason for its effectiveness in preventing facial creases and dreaded morning bedhead! It may not answer your prayers 100% if you already have a serious problem with facial creases but they will diminish slightly and not be as exaggerated as with cotton.

“The Silk Lady pillowcases are naturally hypoallergenic. Since silk is a high molecular form of protein, it has a strong affinity for bio-organisms, and also has the unusual characteristic of preventing growth of micro organisms and bacteria. The closely woven nature of silk makes it inhospitable for dust mites – properties that have proven to ease conditions such as eczema and asthma. Silk is fungi immune and does not contain harmful trace chemicals and therefore resistant to mold and deterioration.”

The SilkLady pillowcases are a brilliant idea for a present for a lady of any age! Not sure what to get your mum, sister or auntie for Christmas? I think you do now!

The pillowcases are on special online at the moment for R310 each and you can purchase them online at www.thesilklady.com and be sure to follow them on Facebook too, let them know we sent you 🙂
