Guest Contribution : Naturals Beauty Essential Collection Milk Cleanser

I love natural products and this was the first time that I used products from Naturals Beauty. I was sent a Milk cleanser  from their essentials collection.Naturals Beauty Essential Collection Milk Cleanser

Naturals Beauty is a Cape Town based family company that makes all natural products that are free from Petrochemicals, Parabens, Synthetic Fragrances and any harmful chemicals. The company was started when they realised the South African  market were seriously lacking natural beauty products that were free from nasties.

They aim to supply products that are affordable, have great quality and are totally natural.

It contains the following ingredients:

Polyphenols (Apple extract) – Has anti-ageing properties.

Omega Oils (Avocado oil) – Moisturise, Smooth, hydrate and refresh.

Sutherlandia and Cucumber – Keeps the skin healthy and radiant.

The milk cleanser has a creamy, thick consistency(it is not at all runny and watery like you would expect a milk cleanser to be, it is more like a lotion)  and smells wonderful. The scent is not too overpowering and you can smell it is naturally fragranced. It felt sheer and creamy when I applied it to my face. I gently massaged it into my skin and rinsed it. My skin was clean, refreshed, soft, smooth and any traces of my makeup was gone. I have been using it for two weeks now and it has not irritated my skin in any way, nor has it clogged my pores or left me with breakouts. This product actually calmed down my seriously over-stimulated skin in a very soft, yet effective way.

I love the fact that it is all natural and that it is so extremely gentle on my skin. I will definitely explore the Naturals beauty range more in future.

You can find these online at www.busweb.org and you pay only R80.00 for a 125ml bottle, which I think is great value considering there went so much time and love into this product. You can also follow Naturals Beauty on Twitter @Naturals_Beauty

Konjac 6 Wave Body Sponge

logo_2

A body spa treatment everyday? Yes please. That was my selling point when buying my latest purchase. The Konjac Sponge Co’s French Green Clay 6 Wave Body Sponge for Oily and Combination Skin. Confession time: I have not used a body sponge in years, in fact I can hardly remember when the last time was that I did! I have had a loofa in the shower which hardly got used, as I’d prefer to just use my body wash with my hands – quick, easy and fuss free but that being said, I have noticed that I am lacking a bit on exfoliating… I am not very good at it, don’t particularly enjoy the sensation and keeping up with it using body scrubs is something that I start out with good intentions but just never get round to doing it… not to mention its messy and requires a great deal of planning. So, after reading about the Konjac Sponge Co. and their philosophies I was intrigued and thought I should give it a try.

Konjac Body French Green Clay

The Konjac Sponge Co’s French Green Clay 6 Wave Body Sponge for Oily and Combination Skin

Essentially, The Konjac Sponge Co create a range of face and body sponges. The one I have been using (and loving) is the Konjac 6 Wave Body Sponge with French Green Clay (for Combination Skin) it a body sponge that doesn’t look very special. Taking it out of the packaging felt like somewhat of anticlimax, the dry sponge which when dry was not big and had a rough texture to it made me shudder at the thought of the sponge being rubbed against my skin. However once the Konjac sponge is completely wet the sponge feels like jelly and is incredibly smooth. The hidden powers of this much talked about sponge actually lie within the wet sponge. The Japanese have harnessed the benefits of the Konjac plant for centuries.

The Konjac body sponges have 6 ranges, one for every skin type (oily, problematic & spot prone skin; for combination skin; for dry and/or mature skin; for tired devitalised skin; for newborns; and one suitable for all skin types) and you’d be sure to find one to suit your specific skin needs and they can be used with or without soap to accelerate the skin cleansing process. The Konjac gently exfoliates, your skin feels incredibly soft and smooth once you are finished and not sensitve at all. The body sponges also assist with with preventing ingrown hairs which is an added bonus as those little buggars are sneaky and from my experience not easily avoided! If you shave, you can use the sponge to assist in lathering shaving foam/cream all while gently buffing the dead skin cells resulting in an even smoother shave.

From my first time using one in the shower, I made sure I massaged the sponge with a circular motion concentrating on all my delicate and problem areas of my skin along with my normal shower gel. I have not yet used the sponge entirely on its own as I prefer to use a body lotion but I will try this eventually! When I get out the shower I feel refreshed, and my skin feels conditioned, radiant and rejuvenated.

The bonus is that the sponge and its properties are 100% natural, and contains NO colouring or additives making it safe for everyone to use.

The downside – for a body sponge – especially for someone that hardly ever used a body sponge, it is not a cheap product. 27Pinkx sell this sponge for R230 and Beauty-Worx sell this sponge for R250 (where I got mine from) and just FYI both online shops ship for free. I ultimately believe my bank balance will forgive me because my skin feels revitalised, rejuvanted and FRESH.. thanks to my latest addition… Konjac! The sponge is not meant to last forever, but with proper care you can get up to 3 months out of the sponge by rinsing it properly by squeezing gently (never wringing) after use and leaving it to dry in an airy or warm dry place. Once the sponge has reached its life span, it is advisable to chuck it into your compost heap (if you have one) and let it go back to nature after serving you and your skin well.

Optiphi Refine-Foliant

A couple of weeks ago, at the wonderful #CptBloggerMeet, read what the lovely Leana had to say about the event here we were given the most fantastic goodie bags, one of the many products in these goodies bags was a tiny blue vile, which looks like its jumped out of a medical cabinet. This is the Optiphi Refine-Foliant.Optiphi Refine-Foliant

To make life easier, this is their website definition and instructions

Smooth Radiance Exfoliator

An active chemical exfoliant for smooth radiant skin, our triple advanced complex is designed to leave your skin looking toned, supple and refined.

Directions for Use:

Apply on face, neck & decollete.

Leave on for 5minutes, thereafter rinse well.

Avoid contact with eye

Now, the website doesn’t make mention of the little pro tips that the wonderful Optiphi reps told me (I love them, this was my second time meeting them!), so I’ll share my experience with you and the tips I picked up from the lovely reps!optiphi

I was told, once the bottle is open, there is enough for 2 applications; I felt like there was enough in the bottle for 3 applications but I smothered it on my face, and it felt like a watered down gel, and once that bottle is open you must use the refine-foliant within 7 days otherwise the active ingredients will not be as effective…  They also told me to cleanse my face before applying the refine-foliant, which makes sense but its not on the instructions 😉  I left mine on for 10 minutes because I’m a rebel… I then jumped in the shower and when I got out I couldn’t stop touching my skin after applying my normal toner and moisturiser. I am obsessed and I know, I shouldn’t be touching my skin so much but I don’t care…. it’s so smooth!

There is something special about using high quality skin care products that give an instant result; Optiphi, as always has never disappointed me and I will be buying more of this lovely refine-foliant for a monthly skin treat. It retails between R520 – R6540 and is available at selected salons and spas.

Be sure to check out their website; like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter @optiphi for some other enticing skin treats, leave them a line and let them know we referred you!

Disclaimer: as stated above I did not buy this product, however it was a gift from an event I attended – this has not altered my view of the product in anyway.

Service Review ~ Rubybox Vs Glambox

Hello Pretty pouters!

Hope you are all doing fantastically well!

So, in the past few months there has been a lot of talk on the net and in magazines about 2 services now offered in South Africa. Rubybox and Glambox. Basically what this service offers is a wonderful little treat for you.

For just the minimal price of R100 you receive a monthly box with a minimum of 4 to 5 products, some trial size and even sometimes a full size might slip into your special box.

So you subscribe to one of these services, you can pay via EFT or Credit card and once a month, like clockwork, you box of goodies is courierd to your doorstep.

So I have subscribed to both services and after about 3 months it is now my turn to give you ins and outs of this service.

So here we go! (Note I will mainly be focussing on the December boxes in this review)

Rubybox

You receive your box within the first week of every month. After opening the courier packaging, you get a matte black box with hot pink writing enveloped in organic packaging.

So as you handle the box, you hear your treats jiggle around inside, which makes you all the more excited (kindof) to just get it open and see what’s inside!

So call this an early christmas present to yourself, afterall, we all know we ladies deserve it and heck, why not put an evening aside during that month, to just relax, sit back and test all your luxury goodies that you received in your boxes?

Right, so when you open your Rubybox this what you find (not all of the December boxes had the same items in them, these are what was in mine though)

Ok first of all, the jiggling about of your treats, is because there is not protective form of cushioning for the products. Luckily in the past 3 months I have not yet received any damaged or broken products, but this should be a level of concern, as this month there was tiny glass jar in the box, which could get damaged should your parcel get squashed by some silly postman.

That aside, the December box from Rubybox contained the following products:

1. GHD Style Final Fix Hairspray – 75ml

2. Elizabeth Arden Intervene 3-in-1 Daily Cleanser Exfoliator Primer – 30ml

(Which you should know by now is my favourite new cleanser, as I received it in my October Rubybox, and now again, but I don’t mind cus now I have a travel one and I don’t have to travel with my full size one)

3. Diesel Loverdose Perfume Sample – 1,5ml

(Oh my this fragrance is just gorgeous!)

4. Africology Neroli Body Balm – 25ml

I absolutely love anything with Neroli oil.

5. A gift voucher for a Facial Analysis at Africology

They are however based in JHB so if you’re not close, you can’t really use the voucher.

All these products are well worth more than R100 (remeber to factor in what couriers cost these days) and considering I don’t have to drive to some crazy ass mall to go into shops and suffer from mall rage to get a few samples, this service is an absolute must if you want to try out products before buying full size ones.

Yes you might have heard Rubybox had some issues with their November deliveries, but every business has some growing pains. Also, a good big thumbs up for Ruby box to include eco-friendly packaging and working with a social upliftment program, Adonis Musati Project, to help pack the boxes.

I’m sure their teething problems will be ironed out soon and due time.

Right, so next up, Glambox

You receive your box within the third week of every month. Although the December boxes were delivered within the first week of December. Kudos for you Glambox for taking into account most Glam ladies will be going on holiday as of the 15th and won’t be at home to receive their boxes. After opening the courier packaging, you get a matte hot pink box. I love hot pink!

So as you handle the box, you hear nothing jiggling around inside, so you open the hot pink box, and revealed inside a very beautiful, glamorous shiny black Glambox. Immediately you feel a 100 times more special because so much care has been taken with the packaging.

So you open up the lovely shiny black box, and what do you find inside?

A little gift, your treats wrapped up with a lovely ribbon and the product explanation card. Unwind the ribbon, and open up the tissue paper and what do you find?

Your lovely treats are cushioned from damage with some black colored paper shreds, all neatly packed and waiting for your attention.

So the December Glambox consists of the following products:

1. Bourjoiss 1001 Lashes Black Quartz Mascara – Full Size

2. Cacharel Fragrance: Anais Anais – 1,5ml

Ah, Cacharel, one of my favourite fragrance companies, the once made a fragrance called Gloria, it was the most amazing ever, it lasted the whole day on your skin and was so clean and fresh and summer-ey.

3. Elancyl Stretch Mark Prevention Smooth Cream – 5ml

4. Suntra Nail Polish by Chic Cosmetics – full size

5. Mama Mio Boob tube ~ Bust & Neck Firmer- 3g

6. Pedi Relax Regenerative Cream – 50ml

It’s Summer girls! We don’t want no muffin tops in your high heels!

7. Toblerone Chocolate – 50g – YES! Every girl loves chocolate for Christmas!

All these products are well worth more than the R100 you pay for this service, and best of all, no driving around, no mall rage. Yes, I’m very mall rage prone, especially this time of the year… Hi-ho-hi-ho…

So far I have not had any hiccups with the Glambox service. (Although the product card indicates a sticker and an x-mas card in the box that wasn’t there, but seriously, it’ll just be petty to get upset about something like that, since I keep my boxes to store my hair stuff in)

I will review all product received as I use them, so that you know what to expect had your ordered your boxes, or if you wish to order a box or two in the near future.

If however you wish to subscribe for any one of these services, or both to test the waters yourself, go to

http://www.rubybox.co.za or http://www.glambox.co.za

Have a pouty perfect day!
