Lollypups for the summer days

Hello Poutligs!

Well it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted.

I recently became a beagle mum. Wow what a learning curve this has been and I’ll tell you all about it later.

I’m always looking for ways to treat him as they are very food motivated, but still want to do it in a healthy way, so I’ve started researching and developing treat recipes.

But seeing as Summer is on the way and you will all be enjoying some ice cream and Popsicles, I will share my pupsicle recipe with you to make them for your dogs so they can also enjoy something cold on the hot days.

I made these for my Baley boy and he loves them!

Coconut, apple & Peanut Butter Lollypups

IMG_0890.JPG

Ingredients:
1 cup low fat coconut milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup apple sauce
1/4 cup smooth peanut butter

Whisk all of the ingredients together, divide into ice trays or suitable containers and pop in the freezer. It’s as easy as that!

If you want to add ice cream sticks to make pupsicles, add small sticks about 2 hours into the freezing process.

I hope your dogs enjoy them as much as my boy does!

Gaga for Versace

I had to take a double take when casting my eye upon the latest Spring/Summer 2014 images for Versace featuring Lady Gaga. I initially thought I was looking at a younger Donatella Versace and Lady Gaga, looks different than normal, although poor soul, she rarely looks normal. I actually quite like her appearance in the campaign, its refreshing, feminine, no weird or wacky pieces to look silly; and for a person who is not too fond (to say the least) of her or her general style, that is saying A LOT. Wearing minimal makeup and sporting Donatella’s sleek blonde tresses and wearing beautiful gowns she looks almost like a young Donatella has been cloned and is reliving the glory days of her youth. LADY GAGA FOR VERSACE (1)

Dontatella and Lady Gaga seem to be good friends…

“I am honoured that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign. I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA.”

Well, Gaga certainly seems to be Donatella’s doppelganger, not too sure about family, but who knows the plot may thicken!

The images were lensed by Mert and Marcus at the location in London and so far only these two have been released.LADY GAGA FOR VERSACE (2)

lamelle : Nourish Multi Active Sun 30 Review

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post however this product was sent to me for reviewing purposes. This has not altered my view on the products in anyway.

Have you heard about lamelle? lamelle Research Laboratories are cosmetic dermatology researchers who create products in South Africa specifically for South Africans and South African skin concerns.

LAMELLE_LOGO

They have various ranges, and the one I have been testing is called Nourish. I tried to explain this, but once I read over it I had even confused myself, it involves free radicals and electrons and lots of science stuff, so before I confuse you I thought I will be better to share with you how their website describes The Nourish range:

“Did you know that free radicals are atoms or molecules that have one or more unpaired electrons making them ‘reactive’ with other atoms or molecules creating cellular injury? When the free radical molecule involves oxygen, we call it a REACTIVE OXYGEN SPECIES (ROS). ROS is a free radical.

Free radical production can be attributed to the following:

•The production of energy from the food we eat is a source of free radicals.

•2-5% of the oxygen we breathe is converted to Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) free radicals. In other words even at rest, we are producing ROS.

•The more oxygen we consume, the greater the amount of ROS we produce. This is especially true in athletes or people with a more active lifestyle.

The body has several antioxidants to combat these Reactive Oxygen Species. An anti-oxidant is a vital molecule that has the ability to deactivate ROS.

Lamelle Research Laboratories offers the most comprehensive free radical protection system against free radical damage.

The Nourish range offers the following benefits:

•Significant reduction in free radical injury,

•Reduction of premature photoageing,

•Preservation of the skin immune response

•Restoration of the natural skin antioxidant defence systems.”

I have been sent the Multi Active Sun 30 from lamelle’s Nourish range which is a sun cream.

PROS

First impressions of the product is that the packaging is minimalist. The colour of the cream is a light beige, not white like lots of sun creams, I assume this helps not making the product have that striking white suncream effect which a lot of other products do. The concentration of sun cream initially is thick but this absorbs into the skin in little-to-no time at all. Once the product is absorbed into the skin there is no glossy appearance to the skin. There is a slight “sun cream scent” but it is not overpowering and once worn for a few minutes seems to disappear completely. The concentrations of the product contains Pycnogenol which is significantly proven to reduce free radical formation, just like the other products in the Nourish range.

CONS

Multi Active Sun 30 is not waterproof, and as such needs to be reapplied to the skin after sweating and/or exposure to water. You need to use quite a lot of product in one go, I assume this can be reduced however this would then reduce the amount of skin protection you receive making the product redundant.

The price is slightly off-putting at first – R351.00 for 70ml. It is not a lot of product but the consistency of the product and the results it gives really makes it worth the price in my eyes.

It is advised that if you get sunburnt that the Multi-Active Sun 30 will work hand in hand with the Nourish Rescue Repair Gel if burning occurs to the skin.

Would I purchase this product again? Yes.

Would I reccommend this product? Yes – especially to people worried about free radicals or cellular injury.

Rating? As far as sun products go, one can only do so much before exhausting the true purpose and meaning of sun protection and therefore I give this product a 8/10 ( a real pity about the non-waterproof).

Victoria Beckham Launches Capsule Collection

Hiya Poutlings! ❤

Victoria Beckham is to launch a capsule collection called Icon featuring the selected reworked designs from her archive collections starting from Spring/Summer 2009 season. The line of seven Beckham dresses coveted by fashionistas around the world will start at £1,000 or roughly R14,000.

Together with my personal edit of the spring/summer 2013 collections, I wanted to be able to offer an exclusive product on the site that was in keeping with the signature aesthetic that’s very special to me, I introduced Icon in response to requests for designs from as far back as my first collection from customers, and I wanted to find a way to offer them key dresses from the archive, but in newly-reworked colours and fabrics.. I hope these updated styles will become unique, limited edition pieces and am excited to revisit other archive designs as the Icon collection continues to grow.NEW ICON RANGE - VICTORIA

The dress that was unveiled as the broke is this navy and spearmint frock inspired by Victoria’s Spring/Summer collection. It will be interested to see what other dress will make it to the Icon collection… are you feeling this one? I don’t know if I like it or not. It may grow on me… maybe?

VICTORIA BECKHAM - NYFW

Meanwhile Victoria showed both her collection at NYFW. The main line textures and colour blocks while Victoria, Victoria Beckham collection is about layers and versatile pieces, which I think I prefer to the first Icon collection piece…

I’m really excited about this collection, it’s effortlessly cool and easy and we’ve developed a lot of textures, it looks like there’s a lot of layers. The idea is that you don’t have to think about it. It looks like two pieces – jumpers and skirts – but it’s just one piece and you can just zip yourself up and off you go.

Be sure to check out Vicky’s website for the new ecommerce website and new pieces of Icon collection.

Miss Swanepoel for Agua de Coco Swimwear

Hiya Poutlings!!

It seems like Candice Swanepoel is following in the footsteps of Miranda Kerr and becoming an extremely versatile model. She no longer demonstrates only Vicky’s Secret designs. She walks on the runway, graces magazine covers and represents a number of fashion brands, including Agua de Coco, which has recently released their new swimwear collection. Just in time for all us Southern Hemisphere-rs to get even more excited about the impending summer that is on the way. I wonder if Miss Swanepoel plans to come and strut some of her stuff on her local South African beaches….

If anyone has any informaiton on this, I will be sure to lock myselfs indoors and cry on that day. #justsaying

Posing on a fantastic looking beach, I REALLY wish I knew where this beach is… Candice Swanepoel looks sexy and beautiful as always! She wears everything from single piece suits to barely there bikinis. Monokinis with cutouts, two-piece bikinis with high waisted bottoms, bandeau styles and a number of beachwear items including perforated shirts, colourful bodysuits and maxi-skirts.

Do you love?
