Guest Contribution : Sorbet Hydro Skin SPF 15 Day Cream and Nigt Cream Reviews

When I heard Sorbet launched their own skincare range last year, I was extremely excited to give these products a try. Not much later Fi sent me these to be reviewed. I first finished the products I was using at the time, and excitedly started to use the Sorbet products.

Hydro Skin Set

I was sent the Hydro Skin SPF15 Day Cream and the Hydro Skin Night Cream. The Hydro Skin range was specifically developed to rehydrate tired and thirsty skin. If I would have purchased it, I would have chosen the exact same products. I am almost 33 years old and living in Mpumalanga with the dry and unpredictable weather really takes a toll on my skin.

The packaging of these products are beautiful. They look like glass pots, but are actually plastic. They look quite good on my dressing table with their clean cut look, compared to my other pots , bottles and potions with their overly branded labels. HydroSkin Day

The Day Cream is a rich face cream with a scent of fresh greens. Because it has a built in SPF of 15, I have stopped using a sunblock on my face daily. Eliminating one product during my morning routine really does make a difference. My skin  feels hydrated after application in the mornings, but the best part of this product is the fact that the moisture stays there the whole day. With this product I have no dry patches making their nasty appearance during the course of my day.HydroSkin Night

The Night Cream is a richer cream than the Day Cream also with a fresh green fragrance. I do not like my night creams to be overly fragranced to prevent irritation, but this scent is so subtle that it does not leave the skin feeling irritated or over stimulated. Of the two products, the Night Cream is my favourite. It is soothing and moisturising. In the mornings when I wake up my skin feels hydrated, soft and plump.

The Hydro Skin range contains ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Omega 3 & 6 Fatty Acids, and Vitamin A & E which are great because I have always loved for my skincare products to have Vitamin E in. It gives the skin that extra boost that we need with factors that damages it over time.

It has been a joy using these products. I also purchased the Sorbet Salon Skin Daily Polish Powder (R220) and it is a lovely product. Combined these three products make my skin feel soft, hydrated and moisturised. I will happily only use these products for the rest of my days as they compliment my skin in so many positive ways.

You can find the Sorbet products at Sorbet Salons and Clicks stores and both the Day and Night Cream will only cost R155 each. Finally a budget beauty range that does a great job!

The Stress Factor

GOOD MORNING STRESSI’ve found myself in a different state of mind the past few months, or the whole year really if I look back. My career is changing which inevitably means that my whole life is changing, even though a career is only a small part of ones life it does influence and affect your life in many ways; on top of that I have an upcoming holiday planned to Italy which I am not prepared for… then there are bills to be paid, a fridge to be filled with groceries and a house that needs cleaning, laundry to be done and so the list goes on! You know what I’m talking about, general life stress. I’ve found that it is really frazzling my nerves out to no end. Constant worrying, struggling to sleep, literally losing my hair, anxiousness, constantly tired and just stressed in every sense of the word. Stress can be paralyzing and doing things within your power to cope is empowering and makes you feel better in the long run.

I have done a bit of reading on how to cope with stress and the basic consensus is that stress is unavoidable, it will always barge into your life uninvited and its easy to let it bully you into feeling helpless but there are many things one can do in order to cope with various stresses. Here is a short guide from me on how I try to cope with everyday stress…

Identify the cause of the stress.STRESS

Sometimes when we are stressed our entire existance seems to be one huge stress factor and every corner you look there are different stressors staring you in the face and you end up taking the defensive position which is not the best solution. Stop spinning in stress. Identiy what you are actually stressed about. Is it a specific project at work, an exam, a fight with a friend, dirty dishes or laundry which are piled up? By enabling yourself to learn to identify the main culprit of stress will enable you to feel one small step towards getting organised and taking action.

You cannot control everything.

You will never be able to be in charge of what your in laws say or the sad state of affair that our country is in, you can learn to control how you react, how you accomplish work and how you spend your own time and what you spend your money on. The worst thing to stress about is things beyond your control as this makes you even MORE stressed and makes you feel helpless.

Spend time doing what you love.

If working your passion is not possible then take another approach and think about life. It is much easier when you manage various bundles of stress in between doing activities you love. If this is not possibly all the time make sure you spend time doing the hobbies you are passionate about. If you haven’t found a passion yet spend some time experimenting with different hobbies. Write, paint, sing, dance, go for a walk. The possibilities for finding a passion are endless and don’t give up if you have yet to find yours.

Time management is key.

One of the biggest stresses in my life is what I perceive to be a lack of time to get stuff done. I never wanted to be one of those people who have to schedule everything into a diary but if I didnt, I wouldnt get time to spend with friends or family. Family and friend time to me is one of the biggest and most enjoyable times to have and it makes me sad that I feel like I have to schedule time for it but in order to give my all to these people whom I love so much, I really do have to schedule them in between all the other stuff that needs to get done.

If all else fails, just book yourself into a salon and have a massage to try and destress your body and try even harder to de-stress your mind. Remember, someone busier than you is having a massage right now!!

Celeb Spotlight : Jack Osbourne on Having MS

Hi Poutlings

At the beginning of the week it was announced that Jack Osbourne has recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. MS is an autoimmune diesease that destroys the myelin sheath of the nerves, causing all sorts of neurological problems in sufferers.

MS  has severy different types which vary in severity. In his Hello! interview, Jack revealed that he has “relapsing remitting” MS, which is considered the “mildest” form of the disease, relatively, and is characterized by doctors as “very treatable“. On the interview and in some of his tweets after the news came out, Jack sounded like he was keeping positive about the diagnosis. MS is one those diseases where people may look “fine”, but may be very tired, dizzy or having problems with vision or balance.

I’ve got too many resonsibilities now to dwell on the fact that, in 40 years, I could be in a wheelchair. You have to take it a day at a time.”

My uncle on her side has MS and, the way mum is, she thinks that somehow it’s her fault. Both my parents were handling it way worse than I was; they were pretty shaken up about the whole thing. They felt upset for me more than anything, and with the timing being so horrible, so soon after [his daughter] Pearl’s birth.”

In a recent TV appearance on The Talk, Sharon couldnt keep it all together and when talking about Jack’s MS. He received the diagnosis about a month ago and it’s obviously still hitting her hard. She thanked everyone for their well wishes for Jack.

Thank you to everyone for all their good wishes. It’s been amazing… for Jack ’cause I really believe that vibes of prayer help.” “What I’m doing is not helping anyone because I’m just feeling sorry for myself. So we have to think positively.”

I have loads of respect for Sharon as a business woman, but this made me have respect for her as a mother, and for anyone that loves to say the Osbournes are rude so-and-so’s who love to pick fight with people, you cannot deny that they sure are a super closefamily.

Jack also tweeted thanks to the people who have supported him throughout this. He also wrote in his new motto #adaptandovercome

For those of you who know about MS, Jack revealed his treatment plan in Hello!. He said he’s about to start a medication called Copaxone, which is a daily injection – a huge amount of fluid he’ll have to self inject. It helps control inflammation. He also said a big part of treating MS is the lifestyle you live, eating heathily, not drinking or smoking, excerise and minimize stress… He added that “everyone should be doing this.” Good advice Jack.

I’m moved by Jack’s story and his attitude, and I know he will go a long way toward educating people about this disease. I hope his health continues to improve. It’s clear he has a lot of family and support around him.

In lighter news, Jack got the chance to promote his new show on the Syfy network, HAUNTED HIGHWAY, which premieres in the States on 3 July. It’s a paranormal reality TV show, where “Jack Osbourne & Dana Workman and Jael de Pardo & Devin Marble do their own first-person investigations of the most frightening claims of paranormal activity along America’s remote back roads.” It looks like a reality show version of the Blair Witch Project, I love these shows even though they creep me out.
