Guest Contribution : Top Trends in Wedding Dresses for 2013

Your wedding gown is the centerpiece of your wedding. All eyes will be on you and the gown, and your choice will influence the colors and style of the bridal party attire, the types of flowers you choose, your wedding cake and your other decor. Of course, it will also be immortalized in your photos forever, so it’s important to make the right choice.

This season, there are many trends in wedding dresses that can make you a beautiful bride with an unforgettable wedding. Here are some of the top trends in wedding dresses for 2013 for you to consider:

Bare Backs

barebackwedding1Wedding gowns are getting away from the prim, covered-up looks of the past. Today’s wedding gowns are a little bit sexy, and they’re not afraid to show off your figure. One of this season’s top trends is the bare back — either from a plunging backline or from a cut out. The result is a sexy view of the bride as she walks down the aisle.

asymmetricalAsymmetric Necklines

The strapless gown is starting to fade into the background as the strap rises again. This season’s hottest gowns have sexy asymmetric necklines with an off-the-shoulder strap. Once reserved for evening gowns, asymmetric necklines are giving a whole new look to wedding gowns.

ivoryweddingdress short hemlineShort Hemlines

This season’s gowns are getting lower in the back and higher in the front. The hemlines are getting shorter, resulting in gowns that have tea-length or even mini-skirts. It makes for a much easier dress to dance in during the reception!

Ruffled hemlines may seem like something that went out of favor in the 80s, but this season’s wedding gowns update that look to create something sophisticated and gorgeous. Sculpted ruffles advance far beyond the hemline and can take up the entire body of the skirt, creating dramatic and abundant swirls.

sheersleevesSheer Sleeves

Long sheer sleeves are hot right now, and they add a touch of old-world elegance to a gown. Lacy, sheer sleeves look romantic and feminine, and they are great for a formal wedding or one with a garden theme.

Of course, any dress you choose should reflect your personal style. Choose one of these trends and you’ll get a dress that’s memorable and a great reflection of who you are.

5 Hot Spring/Summer 2013 Makeup Trends That are Perfect for the Holidays!

The  holiday season is the time of the year when most people have the most parties and functions to attend … which for us girls translates into more excuses to get dolled up and try the latest trends, fashions and beauty looks!  And  since there are so many bold and beautiful Spring/Summer 2013 makeup trends that would be perfect to wear to the parties and outings this the festive season, I thought I would share five of the hottest ones right now!Smile

1) Bright Coloured Matte Lips

Bold, bright coloured lip colours are the perfect way to dress up any outfit which makes them perfect for the festive season!  The way to wear the look and be on trend now is to keep your lip colour matte … which means leave the lip-gloss at home, and keep your lip colours shimmer free! Scarlet red and neon shades like fuchsia and coral are colours that are hot right now! This trend is perfect for both day and night functions … During the day keep your eye makeup ‘barely there’ with just some mascara and maybe pearl coloured eye shadow (if you must have eye shadow), keeping the focus on your lips.  For a night out you can go all out with smoky eye in a neutral colour like gray, brown or black. Personally I love the neon lip shades for summer and these lipsticks are what I use to get the look.

2) Sparkly and Mettalic Eyeshadow

If you’re a fan of glitter and shimmer then no fear, just keep it on your eyelids and you will be on trend! Metallic and shimmery smoky eye makeup is absolutely perfect for a night out! If you use neutral coloured eye shadow to get the look pair it with the bold coloured matte lips mentioned above and you’re good to go! If you’re going with a more fun colour like the aqua blue in the picture above then stick to a nude lip colour and keep the focus  on your eyes.  This Stila eye shadow palette is perfect to create some smoldering metallic looks for a night out during the holiday season! Smile

3) 60’s Inspired Makeup

Bold eyeliner, eyelashes and eyebrows paired with matte skin and nude or red lips is what makes this sexy all eyes on my eyes look! This is another look that’s perfect for a night out and because it’s usually done with neutral or nude eye shadow shades it ends up having that sexy but sophisticated look which is perfect for the office party! Here’s how to take the look from the‘Runway to the Real way’. Smile

4) Colourful eye makeup

Pops of colourful eye makeup in the form of eye shadow, eyeliner and even mascara is a huge trend for summer and can be perfect for day or night holiday events!  Pink, aqua blues and green are some of the most trending makeup colours at the moment. Although these looks from the runways don’t look very wearable there are lots of wearable ways you can wear the trend …  For day time a hint of aqua blue or pink eye shadow just swept across the lid with some mascara or just a line of aqua blue or green liner on the lower lid would be perfect. For night time you just have to add some liquid eye liner and maybe a bold lip and your good to go! You can see how I wear aqua eye shadow for a summery daytime look here.Smile

5) Very Dramatic Lashes

Dramatic lashes are always trending in my books, but the kind of lashes that are trending now are extremely long, extremely full, and obviously fake … While this look can really bring  out your eyes  and make anyone look gorgeous,  it’s probably best left to be worn at night if you are going with fake lashes.  This is how I get my everyday dramatic lash look sans the fake lashes.

Hope you guys liked my post!Smile

New Wedding Trend : Sexy or Strange?

Hiya Poutlings!

There is a new trend in wedding photography. Do you think your actual wedding ceremony was not quite sexy enough, too formal, too classic? Do you want to add a spice to your photographs to brag about how sexy your wedding night actually was?

Well, look no further than “Morning After” wedding shots. Taken hours or days after a couple gets married, this new exhibitionist trend is aimed at showing how spicy new marriage can be.

A photographer from New Jersey, Michelle Jonne told the The New York Daily News:

I wanted to do the shoots to show that [marriage] is happy … it’s sexy and it’s not over, he minute she told me, I thought ‘that is brilliant.’ When you get married, you’re in the best shape of your life and why not have these memories

She went on to say that her client and her new husband agrees who are pictured in the steamy shower scene. Her client intends to share these photos on Facebook and someday show the couples kids.

I’m all for sexy couple shoots, I’ve photographed a few myself. There is something special about intamacy of a couple, but I believe a lot should be left unseen as itis better left to the imagination.

Can you imagine this:

PEPLUM, PEPLUM, PEPLUM… is such a fun word to say!

Hiya Poutlings!

Peplums are sweet and stylish and many times I’ve seen someone sporting one I’ve always thought, LOVELY ON HER but not for me… and you know, that really is a bunch of rubbish! Simply because one automatically thinks a peplum will accentuate the hips that is NOT neccessarily true….

Which is also true for the general public back in day, peplum was critized for being too dificult to pull off, now it has returned with a modern twist to become one of the hottest trends of the season and win hearts of many fashionistas worldwide.

Marchesa Spring Summer 2012

Badgley Mischka Spring Summer 2012

Peplum is simpler and more interesing now, it has transformed into a new, both bolder and more demure shapes and is no longer something to be scared of.

Peplums come on elegant dresses and jackets, girlie blouses and tops, eccentric pants and shorts and due to so many variations there are plentely of ways to wear them. However if you decide to try this trend, there are a few pointers to take into account for example the illusion peplum creates.

Peplums can have both a slimming and volumious effect, cover your problem areas and accentuate the assets. Here are some styling tricks to take into account:

  • To accentuate your waist, look for a peplum on a jacket that is short and sweet. It should end right above your hips. USE A BELT.
  • To add volume to your hips, wear a skirt or dress with peplum that is puffy and fancy and ends in the mid section of your hips.
  • To make your hips look narrower, opt for a sleek peplum with no volume which finishes after the widest area of your hips.
  • Minimize a large bust by wearing a skirt with a darker colour on peplum and a slightly lighter colour underneath.
  • Go for a total black outfit with a peplum, it will have the biggest slimming effect.
  • Avoid A-line skirts with peplums, only pencil skirts will work to balance your proportions right or you will end up looking like a bus… as my dear Sandylashxx says. hahaha.
  • The hem of your skirt or dress should hit above the knee and just bust below it. If you go for a longer design you will look shorter no matter how long those legs are because peplum tends to cut off the length of the legs.
  • Wear high heels with peplums to keep your proportions right, and there is never an excuse not to wear high heels, ladies!!

Do you have any other tips for pulling off this look? Please share in the comments.

Weekend Trend Crush: Pearls

Pearls, Pearls, Pearls…

What I love about pearls is the fact that you could literally wear a dustbin bag with your pearls and look like a million bucks (but obviously this is not advisable unless you are a homeless person). So this weekend your mission is to look absolutely fabulous wearing your pearls with your favourite outfit!

And remember – THE MORE THE MERRIER!!!

Have an awesome weekend Pouters!
Peace and love xoxox
